DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Melanie, I can totally understand the feelings you are having. I, too, had a really bad weekend. I had to travel to a christening where lots of yummy food was served. I stayed away from the Dutch Oven potatoes (my favorite), and I even pulled the meat and cheese out of the sandwiches and discarded the bread. I did have a serving of baked beans, though. The beans were ok on my diet, but they were cooked in lots of honey and brown sugar. Oh my gosh, they were so good! Unfortunately, when I stepped on the scale, I had gone up almost a full pound. Yikes! I did a lot better yesterday, and took those ounces off, so I'm hoping that I can continue on!

Here's to a much better week! I'm still exercising regularly, and feel like that's doing some good on my leg muscles. I really hope that I don't find any excuse to give it up! I am trying so hard to be able to do the half marathon, but lately, I've been feeling like I might not make it. I'm sure it's just hormones, as it's getting to be that time of the month again. Oh well, this too shall pass, right?

Hello All,
My diet is going well. I have been a very good girl. Chris rejoined me in our efforts today. I am still feeling a bit out of sorts which seems to happen for the first week or two each time I start. I hope to add exercise in very soon. I know that I will get lots of exercise this weekend as we are tapping over 1400 maple trees which means walking up and down a mountain for two days. My legs will not appreciate it I'm sure. Glynis and Melanie, don't get down on yourselves, put past mistakes behind you and start tomorrow with a renewed commitment. I know that both of you can do it. Just think how great we will all look on our next visit to WDW.

Thanks, Deb. You always manage to say just the right thing! I surely wish that we all lived in the same neck of the woods. How wonderful it would be to be able to get together to do our walking/exercising. I'm just so grateful for all your support.

We are aware and most of us have been WISH members at some point in time. The people on this thread all have a common interest in Disney design and are part of the "DDA". We are all addicted and post regularly on the main thread. This weight loss thread is just another common interest we share and are supporting each other. Thank you for your invitation to join the "official" forum, but we have all bonded here for now. If you would like to join us, you are welcome to do so.

Deb

Thanks for the offer to join. I prefer to keep my posts where they belong.

Good luck with your weight loss journey.

TPCShauna do you have a link to that other forum?
Maybe that is where I saw the recipe - since obviously noone here knows.... or cares to respond otherwise...
if you could pm me - I will go explore some more and try to find it on my own. These board are confusing me.

I'm sorry that no one responded. I don't remember seeing the recipe. I remember some fish recipes though. I hope that you find what you are looking for.

I don't think anyone is ignoring you, I am just betting that they did not see your post or possibly the recipe was not on this board. I post on this particular thread only once a week, so this is the first chance I would have had to respond...

Sorry... I don't know the recipe you are looking for. have you tried doing a search on this thread?

Down another 1/4 pounds. That makes 16 pounds since January 14. I am delighted!

Everyone else on here... keep doing what you are doing! It is definitely working, even if there are slip ups every once in a while. Just get back on the wagon :thumbsup2

ETA: It is actually 1.4 pounds. I hit the wrong key :)

I just got back from an unexpected trip and saw your post. I've been trying to find the recipe you wanted, but I don't think it was this thread. I'm sorry you think we've been unfriendly. It was not intentional. I'll keep checking for the recipe. It sounds yummy!

Hi there!

Here's the link. W.I.S.H. Board

They are extremely welcoming there. Good luck finding the recipe! It certainly sounds yummy!

Cheers! :cutie:

Well, I gained 0.5lbs this week :crazy2: but that's ok. I know there will be weeks like this. I was hungry all week & I went over my flex point allotment so I expected a gain so I guess I should be glad it was only 0.5.
Back on track today & not so hungry.
Still haven't made much progress on the excercise front. I know I have been talking for weeks about joining Curves & between the dreaded ear infection I had & various other things I haven't done it yet....but I called & made an appt today to join on Friday. I gotta get off my butt & excercise!!!!!!
Hope everyone is having a great week.
Good job on your loss PNO4TE.....

Let's all keep going......WE CAN DO IT!!!!
:cheer2: :woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Melanie, .5 lbs is nothing, I flucuate several lbs in any given day. I know as well as you that exercise is the key, but I like you, am having a very hard time motivating myself to exercise. I am really hoping that the weather here gets nice so I can walk outside. It's been too cold here from my taste.
I hope that curves works for you. I tried it a couple of years ago and the hours were far from ideal for my schedule and I didn't find the workout challenging enough. I did however get some exercise there.

Melanie - I agree a half a pound is not something to worry about. I've been doing that for the last week. I'll be down a half pound one day and the next up a half pound. It's frustrating, but I keep reminding myself that it's PMS week, and it's to be expected. I just keep doing what I can and exercise as much as I can. Important thing is not to beat yourself up about it! I'm glad that we are all doing as well as we are. I think my positive attitude it largely due to this group! I know that I couldn't do half as well if I didn't know I had all of you behind me to kick me in the rear when I need it, and to pick me up when I go down! Thanks so much!!!!

Glynis you are doing so well. A lot of it is your dilligence. We have a family friend that had a Gastro Bipass done a few years ago. He lost a ton of weight and started walking. He looked amazing. His family says that he is now back to his old ways of eating and is beginning to regain weight. They went to Hawaii for a month and his MIL said that he ate 5 course meals and cleaned his plate each time. She said her and her daughter were splitting the meals as they were so large. I guess that he has lost the dilligence that he initially had. I'm glad to hear that you are on program. I hope that you will not be tempted by old ways and hearing stories like this one will certainly help. Keep up the good work.

Deb

Deb - Thanks for your kind words. I DO NOT want to go back to the way I was before. We paid a lot of money for this surgery, and it would be like flushing it down the toilet! I never want to feel the way I've felt the latst 15 years. I am just so much happier, now, and have more energy. My kids say I'm really "cool" now. I play with them, and we have fun together. Whenever I get discouraged, I think about that and can't imagine ever wanting to sacrifice that for food.

Thanks for the encouraging words Deb & Glynis. I am feeling pretty good about my success so far, but sometimes it hard to focus on how much you've lost when you still have quite a bit more to loose.
I am motivated though & with that motivation & a little help from my friends
:goodvibes I plan on sticking with it & getting to where I want to be.

:disrocks: and especially my DDA buddies rock!!!! :thumbsup2

Well the weather was beautiful today & I got off early after having to work late Tuesday night so I took my dog for a walk & finally got some excercise. :rotfl2:

I am having an excercise decision dilemma. I know I keep saying I am going to join Curves. Well, Deb's comments about it not being that beneficial go hand in hand with me worrying that I don't think it will be the work out for me. I need aerobic activity to burn off some of this fat & I just don't know that those machines combined with the aerobic recovery stations will be enough for me to tell a difference in my weight loss. So, I have decided not to join Curves & I think what I am going to do is order the Firm DVD's & their new system & do that instead. I can do that at home & combine it with walking & I think I will see better results. I hate being so indecisive but I just couldn't make myself join Curves after the preview I went to, but I kept on thinking some excercise would be better than none.

Sorry to be so long, but I feel better now that I have made a decision.

Melanie-
There was a thread on the WISH Boards about the Biggest Loser Workout DVD. Everyone says it quite a tough workout. Maybe that's something that would be beneficial for you? I bought it, but it was the wrong one! There is a Biggest Winner workout tape (with Jillian in it- YUCK)- that's the one I bought- don't buy that one! Buy the Biggest LOSER tape- it's only 1 dvd. I'm gonna go looking for it again.

Melanie - It always feels good when you make a decision. I've had really good luck with the Richard Simmon's Sweatin' tapes. I love the music and it really gets my heart pumping.

Karen - Nice to hear from you again! How are things going? Did you meet with the doctor on the 13th? How is/was the dance festival? Has your house sold, yet? I can't imagine doing a workout tape with Jillian. She kind of scares me. Let me know how the Biggest Loser tape is, though. I'd be interested!

Glynis- I did not meet with the Dr. on the 13th because DH'd company is changing insurance companies- and they said it wo0uld be better to wait until the insurance was intact with his company. So... I'm waiting until April now- and I'm bummed. The house is not up for sale yet. DH's company lost the last bid in Pittsburgh and they have a new job bidding opeing in 3 weeks for a job in Seattle. Hopefully they'll get taht.... who knows. EVERYTHING in my life is on hold for now- and I can't stand it!
Dance Festival is going as planned- it will be held on June 24th- you should come up here and visit the fam on that weekend! We haqve over 3200 kids doing this festival! We just can't believe the support we've been getting. It's been very exciting.
Thanks for thinking about me.
