DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

One step at at time for me. Baby steps. Today I have chugged down 3 bottles of water. Yesterday only 2. But hey, the day before was zero!! SO this is an improvement! :goodvibes

Tomorrow after work I'll go to the gym. I'm putting my gym clothes in the car tonight. :goodvibes Then I'll take them in to work with me or else they will be frigid! :cold: :cold: :cold:

I'll go to the gym again on Wednesday, as Thursday I have a dinner to celebrate a friend's 25th wedding anniversary. Back to the gym on Friday!!! That is my plan. Now to execute!!

And it will be okay if we start a new thread each week. That way we can reply to each person and give each other support :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Steffy--sounds like a good plan!!

im okay for a separate thread each week if thats what everyone wants to do--doesnt matter to me!

Well I had a rough night with he boys taking turns waking up. Thought I would get to sleep in until dh went into our bedroom (Colby was sleeping on a cushion on our floor) and banged around enough to wake him. I was POd. Dh decided today was a good day to stay home. Gotta love him. I had a low carb bar when I woke up and a diet coke with splenda. I went shopping for some supplies for the pinewood derby cars the boys are making and came home and made an awesome low carb meatloaf. I now have leftover chicken from last night and meatloaf from tonight to snack on. I also pick up some very low carb candy to treat myself with. So I am right on track with the diet and have had no slip ups. I also took time and did sit ups and push ups. Not too many, but as many as I can. I hope to see those numbers increase over time. I hope that everyone is staying on track. Can't wait to read about your progress.

Steffy. Great plan. I know that you will do it.
Blueeyes. Great job getting that workout in. Glad your seeing movement on the scale. That's the best motivator.
Ksoehrlein. You know that you were naughty, but are quickly correcting. Nice catch. Keep up the good work.
Glynis. I know how frusterating plateaus are. Stick with your plan and eventually you will see movement again. I know how hard it can be, but you are obviously committed and have already seen amazing results with much more to come.

Deb

Deb-you seem to be doing great! Even though you had a rough night last night- you still did a good job today!!! I am doing what you are doing--hoping to see the numbers increase over time! hope tomorrow is good as well!

Hi everyone. Didn't manage our walk today, but did however do to sets of 20 push ups and 2 sets of 30 situps/crunches. Breakfast was a low carb snack bar with coffee with heavy cream, lunch consisted of one chicken breast (don't tell Deb ;) ) and a diet coke with splenda. I also made egg salad for snacking (no bread of course). Dinner was an amazing low carb meatloaf with cheese and bacon bits. I may have eaten too much, but it's pretty much a freebie :goodvibes . Deb also bought me some low carb candies. She got me a coffee flavored one and a mint one. yummy. :earboy2: . Tomorrow I plan to do an aerobic exercise, probably walking.

Keep up the good work. It sounds like many people are sticking to the commitment. For those of you not posting, Jump on in the waters fine. :rotfl2:

Thanks Deb!

And good for you! When I did Atkins, I lost 35 pounds in a couple of months. It had gotten easy for me and then I went to my nephew's wedding. I have to stop being a "good girl" or a "bad girl" and allow myself to slip without going over the edge.. I figured I had gone "off my diet" and then just chucked the whole thing!

Chris

I think he did two sets of situps and pushups. Little typo there.

Is it too late to join in???? I want to start walking again (did the half at WDW last January- and stopped walking as soon as I was done with that!) and my immediate diet plans are to do the diabetic diet-
Ohhhhhhhhh............. the NY resolutions I have made !

Deb, Can I please please please have the recipe for the low carb meatloaf? I LOVE meatloaf, and hamburger is one meat that I haven't had a hard time eating since the surgery.

Chris, yes the water is fine. I'm up to drinking 64 ounces per day, and DH got our treadmill working again last night. I love living with a "Tim, the Tool Man". I was able to walk for 10 minutes last night, and 10 minutes first thing this morning.

My plateau has broken!!!!!! I'm down to 169 as of this morning. I have to say, it's an incredible feeling! I haven't been this thin since 1992. It definitely gives me the resolve to continue.

As for the threads, I'll do whatever everybody else wants to do. Just as long as I don't get lost in cyber space. Somebody keep an eye on the poor computer illiterate, ok?

I forgot to mention one thing. If anyone is interested in some GREAT low carb dinner menus, check out www.savingdinner.com. Leanne Ely has written a book that is chock full of low carb menus. I used to subscribe to her low carb menu mailer, and now have about 4 months worth of fabulous recipes. My family likes them too, so we've all been eating healthier. I plan to go to the bookstore today and pick up her complete book. The thing I like about it is that she gives you the shopping list, recipes and ideas for low carb (and some higher carb) side dishes to round out the meal.

Just thought I'd mention it if anyone's interested.

WTG Glynis!! :cheer2:

Thanks. I think we are ALL off to a great start! We can do this, together.

Well I finally stepped back on teh scale today (frist time since before x'mas). I had only gained around 2.5 pounds. I started back walking yesterday. The weather here was in the 70s. Today I am starting back on cutting back on what I eat and really watching it. I go to Disney in 43 more days and really need to lose some.

Glynis- I'm so impressed with you! thanks for the low carb website. Any favorites you can recommend???

Meatloaf. I made a big one this time.

3 lbs of 85% hamburg 0 carbs
3 eggs 0 carbs
1 cup low carb ketchup 12 carbs
1/4 low carb baking mix 3 carbs
1 8 oz package mexican shredded cheese 8 carbs
1/2 cup bacon bits 0 carbs

In large baking dish mix hamburg, eggs, ketchup and 3/4 package of shredded cheese. Mix well using your hands. sprinkle the baking mix (or low carb crackers) and bacon bits over top. Place in 450 degree oven for 1/2 hour, remove and add remained of cheese over the top. Cook until cheese browns.
You may need to adjust cooking time to account for how well done you like your meatloaf. Total carbs = 23 g. We will get at least 10 servings from this amount. Good luck.

I have also become a huge fan of dried seasonings. dry italian dressing mix is 0 carb and can be added to meatloaf or sprinkled over chicken to add wonderful flavor. Dried bbq flavoring is great on chicken or beef. I also top most meats with shredded cheese for added variety.

Where do you get low carb baking mix? Do you make it yourself? This sounds fantastic!

Where to start? Here are a few of the titles of the dishes I've made that I love:

Southwestern Hot Turkey Salad
Easy Apple Chicken Skillet
Lemon Turkey Picatta
Creole Salmon Cakes
Crockpot Beef Burgundy
Really Garlicky White Fish
Crockpot Morock
Balsamic Flank Steak
Pork Chops with Garlic Cream
Chicken Vera Cruz Verde
Steak Diane
Low Carb Picadillo
Teriyaki Salmon
Chicken Balsamic
Turkey Fajitas
Carolina Crock Pork

Seriously, she has recipes for every taste. Her side dishes are great too. She makes a mashed cauliflower that tastes better than mashed potatoes. You can check her books out at the library to see if you want to buy them. Her name is Leanne Ely and the book is Saving Dinner the Low Carb Way. Fabulous!

Well, I just came across this thread today, but I would like to join in as well!!

I have battled with my weight for my whole adult life, whenever I lose I always end up gaining it back. My last effort was through weight watchers and I went from 170 in Sept 2003 down to about 140 by April 2004.

Now I am back up to 160. At least I didn't gain it all back, but I really want to get it under control again. There is diabetes in my family, and I am already on blood pressure medication, so I really need to keep my weight under control for my health. I am 5'3" so if I could get back down to 140 I would be at the top of my healthy weight range. I would even be happy with 145.

So anyway, I will be following the weight watcher point system, as that worked really well for me the last time. I will pledge to exercise at least 10 minutes a day, with a goal of 20 minutes or more at least 3 times/week.

My starting weight this morning was 160.
My DH is very supportive, and is interested in exercizing more and losing some weight, so that should help me. He won't 'do' weight watchers, but he will be happy to eat the meals I fix for him, so he will be eating healthier either way.

I am at work now, but when I get home I will be throwing away any leftover Christmas desserts and other junk food.

I am looking forward to having a group to support me, and to hold me accountable. I already started on my weight watchers plan as of today, before I came across this thread, so this is perfect.

Good luck to all!

Ellen

Well, I finally made it to the grocery store yesterday so we're good to go! Sinner was meatloaf, sweet potatoes and salad. For breakfast this morning I made whole wheat pancakes since I was working from home due to a migrane. So far I'm on bottle 3 of 5 for water (24oz bottles). Still working on the exercise thing, but I'll be checking out OnDemand later when Terra settlesdown a little (very crabby today and doesn't feel like doing much more than sitting on my lap and watching TV).

Keep up the great job everyone!
