This is a thread for everyone to post a weekly update with how things are going or any pixie dust requests that you want to make sure everyone sees. If you want to chat, please join us in the DDA Trouble Free Zone or send a pm. This is a place to help us keep track of each other when we get too busy or go out of town and don't have time to read ALL the posts on the main thread. Hopefully, it will help us stay up on the important stuff going on and also keep track of those who need our spare pixie dust. It is definitely not meant to replace the DDA Trouble Free Zone chat thread! We all need that in our every day lives.

You can "meet" many of the DDA in the Hi - my name is thread.

I'll start. As most of you know we had to have our dogs put down on the 15th. It has been a very difficult time for us, but I've had some amazing things happen that tells me that they are still with me and that they are ok. Emotionally I am doing ok because of my little signs. I am now on a mission to get my house in order before winter. The busier I keep myself the less time I have to think and these days that is a good thing. We are tackling the basement and garage on the weekends and I'm working on closets and changing clothes around during the week. I'm still working 3 or 5 nights a week at AJ's and the kids activities are in full swing. I am leading the Webelos scouts again this year, but haven't planned a meeting yet  I have also been doing Weight Watchers. I am impressed at how easily I am able to stay on track. My last weigh in had me 4 lbs down and I'm pretty sure I've lost a bit more since then :thumbsup2. So in a nutshell things are going pretty well here. I look forward to keeping up with all of your lives using these cliff notes as reminders of what I have read on the main thread.
Thanks for the idea Vicki.

Lately, I've been feeling bored. I am only traveling to Lansing once a month for two days. Last year, I was traveling down twice a month for 3 or 4 days each trip. Becky can drive herself now so she doesn't need me as a chauffer anymore. Chuck is teaching two nights a week. I am someone that needs to be kept active. I also need something to force me to be busy and organized. The more time I have the less I seem to get done around the house.

So, I volunteered to be the Area Manager for Girl Scouts again. This is a position that I held for 4 years when the girls were younger but it became too much when they got to older and I started traveling to Lansing. It has been nice getting involved back in my community again. With my job, I don't really have any community ties because my staff work on the entire West end of the UP. Since I have a home office, I also spend a lot of time alone.

Last night, we met with 4 new leaders in two separate meetings to discuss what their roles would be. We then trained 3 returning leaders that are taking on an older level of Girl Scouts this year. It was really nice to be out with adults discussing something that I am passionate about. I have orientation trainings with 2 of the new leaders next week and the other 2 the week after.

We still want to camp a couple of times before winter. We were hoping to camp this week-end but the weather is looking like it will be rainy & cold so we aren't sure if we'll go or not. I  my new trailer.

I continue to enjoy all my DDA friends. You guys are a great bunch of ladies (with a couple of good men thrown in the lot). I can't imagine being where I'm at right now without all your support. I'm down 2 more pounds (after going back up 8).

Everything else is going fine. I'm working on getting my office organized and then I'll be working on scrapbooks. I want to get a scrapbook done for each of the girls before Becky graduates in the spring. I'm also hoping to get a scrapbook (or powerpoint presentation) done for my mother, sister & brother for Christmas.

Heres my update..

Champ (my rottweiler) isnt any better, or any worse..He still is so happy when we walk in the door. I know that he may start getting worse soon, but at least he's happy now.

Alex is doing well-Last night we all went to a viewing for a fireman's mom..I found out that Alex went later in the night since it was one of his guys. His daughter went in for a CT scan yesterday to see if she can play soccer yet . (she hasnt really been allowed to do much because the want the spleen to be completley healed).

The bump on my neck went down and doesnt hurt anymore. Im just going to keep an eye on the area to make sure everything stays the same.

My brother and the EMS guys decided to donate the firehouse hall to the family that lost their dad the other day..they are going to use it for the luncheon after the funeral..I talked to joe and his friend Brian--they realize they did everything they could but they are still pretty upset

School is going crazy--I cannot wait til vacation! ij ust keep telling myself that as long as i get this work done, the trip will be better..

Alright, now September is almost over..october has to be better , right?!

I've been very busy between working, Girl Scouts, and taking classes for a master's degree in nonprofit management.

I've also been having some health issues. Abdominal pain, Gerd, and on and off sinus issues. On Wednesday, September 20th I had a sinus cat scan and a chest x-ray. On Tuesday, September 26th I had an abdominal ultrasound and an upper GI. I am now in more pain from the ultrasound than before I went to have the tests done. I go back to the Dr. on Tuesday, October 3rd to discuss test results with the Dr.

Despite my health issues I have still been eating healthier and excericising and my weight has continued to go down. I am now at 199 pounds. So hopefully no more 200's for me. :Pinkbounc

My grandmother also had surgery on Tuesday, October 26th to reset her pace maker as she was having irregular heart beats. She came home from the hospital on Wednesday and is doing well.

I hope to start cleaning and organizing stuff but it just never seems to happen.

Sending prayers, :wizard: :wizard: and :grouphug: :grouphug: to all of you.

The past two weeks have been so wild! My friend V (the god mother of my girl) is a loan officer and works out of her home. Well one of her clients told her to prepare because her plans to buy about 50-75 houses in the next few months. She about Pluto pooped. She has one other loan officer in her office and an admin type gal who does lots of other things.

Well they are behind in getting the current loans finished and then cleaned up and filed away. I told her I would help her get her act together so when we go to Mexico she felt better and she would be better put together for her incoming lot of loans from the one guy.

She has a nanny who comes to help with her two kids (they are 3 ½) while she is n her office. So now Bethie is playing with them every morning for 3 ½ hours while I help to organize things for this wild amount of loans.

At first this was a I am your friend and just here to help you. Then her and her DH (B) said this is wrong and we want to pay you because you have been here doing so many things. So this last week she paid me for the work I had done. She has now asked me to stay on and once the office is back in order to work the mornings while Ellie is at school.

So I guess I now have a job. It’s weird because I was not intending to get a job…. I was just going to help her until things settled down a bit. But things changed and she wants me to stay and learn and also she can use me as a notary.

BUT!!!!!! The past two days I spent the mornings and went back in the afternoon to help process the files for three-year storage. This means papers need to be in a particular stacking order in the file and the things not needed are shredded. No big deal right???? WRONG because I was told the wrong thing by the gal who had been cleaning up the files for the storage. So I found out at just about the end of the day that I had been copying things I did not need to and then wasting my time putting the wrong papers together. I could have been done with the 10 files they needed processed in morning had the admin gal known the correct way to process the file.

This brought to light one of the reasons they are so far behind in putting the files to “bed”. So I will be making a checklist and having my friend V check it over to ensure it is correct. Then I should be able to process a file in about 15 to 20 minutes.

SOOOO next week I should only be in the “office” in the mornings as originally planned and agreed upon. With the exception of Monday because Bethie has gymnastics in the morning.

THEN…. Next Saturday I leave for Mexico and I don’t know if I will have internet access or not.

Speaking of Mexico, I need to get a few things done this morning to get ready for the trip. Not being home so much put things aside that I had not planed on.

So all my medical tests are over. I went to the Dr.'s for my results today and the only thing they found was reflux. I didn't need a test to tell me I was having that. The Dr. doesn't know why I am having pain. I am supposed to keep taking the meds for the reflux and am supposed to go back in two months.

I'm still busy with my classes and work and Girl Scouts.

Classes are going okay-I have a ton of homework to do b efore the cruise, but I am going to try t o get a big chunk of it done today.

I went to the dr for the bumps on my neck and got antibioltics and i am starting to feel better. My mom was diagnosed wtih diabetes yesterday so its been another crazy week!

Alex, the fireman, is still doing great--i havent seen him in 2 weeks, so maybe ill stop by his house tomorrow. His daughter was supposed to find out if she is a ble to start playing soccer so i want to find out about that.

Since this is a thread for Pixie Dust (& hopefully some prayers too), I would like to make a request for our county. I live in Lancaster County Pa, & I'm sure all of you have read about the horrors that our families in the county have had to endure this week. Please send prayers & Pixie Dust to all of the families this tragedy has touched. This is something you read about happening in other areas & it is always horrifying to read about, but when it hits home.....well, we are all in a state of shock & disbelief. Our county (& our country) has been touched by so much violence this year. It sure makes you so thankful for all that you have & hopefully reinforces the saying "Don't sweat the small stuff". Thank you for listening. Barb

Here's my update for the week. I spent all last week getting my house and plans together for a big birthday bash. That bash was yesterday and all the hard work paid off. We had a blast and my house is clean :thumbsup2 . Hunter has been sick since last Tuesday. I ended up taking him to the ER today and he has pneumonia. I'm glad that it was caught early and hopefully the antibiotics will get him back on his feet within a day or two. That is my update. I hope all is well with all of you.

Deb

Hi, all! I have been too busy to even think about reading the main thread, so I thought I'd post a quick update here.

Nothing out of the ordinary is happening in my life. It's just all the ordinary is happening at break-neck speed at the moment.

Cross country season is almost done. That makes me :Pinkbounc and :sad2: at the same time.

Take care all! I'll try to get back on the thread soon.

Beth

Hi Beth. Glad to hear all is ok. I'll give a quick update too.

Hunter has recovered from his pneumonia and is feeling much better. Nick seems to be getting over the cold/fever part of the virus that he had and he is now just fighting an annoying cough. Colby just has the cough and so far has been fortunate enough to not get the fever. Somehow Chris and I have avoided catching it all although I do have a slight sore throat this morning. We went to a fun Cub Scout event this past weekend and the boys had a great time. We have managed to get most of our Pre Winter work done around here, we just need to move the rest of the stuff from the garage to the basement then I will be able to move my car into the garage. So far I haven't had to scrape frost so I guess I still have a bit of time. We are doing much better at keeping up with the housework around here too. So in a nutshell everyone seems to be on the mend and we are super busy with Karate, Scouts and work, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Got the call just befor lunch today, that my uncle who was diagnosed with cancer 2 weeks after my dad, passed this morning.

Heres my update-
Things are looking a bit better here! My cruise is 2 weeks away and i am starting to get excited about that. I have gotten a good bit of my homework done and still have a couple weeks to get some more--the way things are going, i am not going to have to bring homework with me on the cruise!! WOOHOOO!

I just saw Alex today--he is doing great..He is continuing his therapy, but all the doctors just told him that it is amazing he is walking right now.

Classes are okay--I am working on my senior seminar paper, whichi s taking up alot of time..

Other than that,nothing too exciting!

Things in the U.P. are going along pretty well. I had my office organized and it looked pretty fantastic. I had asked Chuck if we could put the walls up at Christmas (since I was using curtains on one end to separate from his workroom) and another wall had no drywall). He decided to do it now. So my organized office is organized no more. We have the walls up and drywalled and each has the first layer of mud on them. Otherwise, things are the same as usual for us. We head to Disney for the double Mickey/Minnie wedding ceremony in around 32 days. We will meet 6 other DDA ladies while we are there.

Things have been going good here lately...
I have been spending time getting ready for my cruise and doing alot of homework so i dont have to do it on the cruise!

Wednesday-last day of classes til after the cruise! Classes til 3
Thursday-No school! Will probably clean my room , since i hate coming back from vacation to a messy room
Friday-Getting my hair done and my brother and i will clean the rest of the house
Saturday-everything packed and ready ..babysit at night

I got a Treasure Chest today!!! Oh and I needed a pick me up!!Thank you all so much.:grouphug:

Life is really rough for us around here right now and it means so much to me that you're thinking of me. :goodvibes

Here's a quote I found that I want to share with all of you....

In loneliness, in sickness, in confusion-the mere knowledge of friendship makes it possible to endure, even if the friend is powerless to help. It is enough that they exist. Friendship is not diminished by distance or time, by imprisonment or war, by suffering or silence. It is in these things that it roots most deeply. It is from these things that it flowers." :flower:
-Pam Brown

I am so very lucky to have found all of you.Thank you...thank you so much...it meant a great deal to me!
