DDA Chapter 9

Wow, has this been a fast week! I was discharged from the hospital on Saturday afternoon, and my mom, stepdad and sister stayed until Monday, to help us celebrate Matty's birthday. Swim lessons ended on Wednesday, and Noah had his first doctor's visit that day, too. On Monday, the nurse who visited determined he had dropped 10% of his weight and he was jaundiced, but by Wednesday, the doctor declared Noah was on the upswing again, so that made me feel better.

I have also been fighting a two week long splitting headache that I had attributed to stress and hormones, but I finally broke down and went to the doctor today, to find out I have a sinus infection. Hopefully the Z-pack will kick in soon, and I'm trying my best to take it easy with my lovely 2nd degree tear (Noah made it 3/3 of my birthing kids with cords around their necks! ).

We have been blessed with friends and family bringing us meals all week long. Today, a friend even came over and took Alyssa and Matty to the park for a couple hours. Kevin goes back to work Monday. I know Matty is really going to miss him...he's become quite the Daddy's boy.

I know I have missed a lot this week. Lots of :wizard: and :grouphug: to you all! I hope everyone has a great weekend!
:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I love my C-sections!

Hope you feel better soon. All the pictures were wonderful, but when I first saw Matty's cake I thought "he's turning 2 not 8" and then I got it. Okay, so it was late at night and I was tired.

Oh my goodness it was so funny. I left her downstairs to come up with the class and when she got up on stage she was on her toes, waving, just hoping to see him wave back. When he did and she finally saw him she was bouncing like crazy. She waved every few minutes just to make sure he could still see her. Way too cute! :goodvibes Afterwards they had carnival type games and she barely let go of his hand as if he might disappear if she did. He was so uncomfortable when we were in the one big room and it was soooo noisy and hectic, but he wasn't going to move from her side she was just so excited he was there.
:goodvibes :goodvibes How wonderful for her!

Elizabeth, you Mom will be in my thoughts. Lots of hugs coming your way.:cloud9:

Bernadette, your hubby will be in my thoughts. Lots of hugs coming your way.:cloud9:

Becky, good to see your trip was fun.:cool1:

Tom, your Mom will be in my thoughts. Lots of hugs coming your way.:cloud9:

I am sending hugs to all in need.

My grandkids got goldfish from the carnival. Those poor fish. As soon as they saw where they were, in a home where the people can't even grow cactus, they knew they were in trouble.:rotfl:

I went out and bought them food and gravel, but to no avail. I knew it would just be a matter of time before they were floating upsidedown. :sad2: The larger one died yesterday. The other probably willed himself to go. All drains go to the ocean right?? I sure hope so, as they were flushed away. I got home and there was no trace of him. I'm going to gently suggest that my grandkids not play any games that give living things as prizes. We are not worthy.:sad2:
Sorry :rotfl: about the :rotfl2: goldfish, Stephanie.

Tammi - I hope Nicholas feels better today and that his game goes well.

Baloo - WONDERFUL to see you on here. I am sure that Disney caught on to the popularity of the great DISigns from here. People (including CMs) are always asking where they came from!

Tia - sounds like you and Phil and Terra had a terrific day!

Jen - I hope you have the most magical, relaxing trip. Say HI to Deb and Chris and the boys!

Stephanie - I doubt you and your clan are unworthy. Those little fishies were overwhelmed by the exercise requirements in your Wii Fit household...

Debbie - It is nice to see you have your internet back up and running, even if you can't see any pictures. Have fun at the water park today!

Kristine and Robyn - are the sickies gone at your house?

Marci - I hope you got some more sleep last night and that the games go well this weekend. Can you explain what run-ruled means to this mother of females who only played soccer?

Janet - I LOVED the BBQ rules. Ain't it the truth??

Sorry about all the lost baseball games. Nicholas has one this morning. I wonder if it's a sign.

Jen - I hope I haven't missed you. Have a wonderful trip!!!!!

Nicholas is still coughing and running a fever. I guess I will break down and take him to the dr. today. My concern is pneumonia, since he has no other symptoms. He had it when he was 11 months, and all he had then was an extremely high fever.

Good morning everyone! I am off to the airport (in 20 min!)

I will have my cell phone, so if anyone needs me, give me a call , okay?

enjoy your week

Tammi-hoep nicholas feels better!

Wonderful pictures, Amy! :goodvibes

BBQ RULES
We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real' man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.

 Too true! Kyle actually does cook some, and this is STILL how barbecues work at our house!

I think the only reason we saw Pocohanas was while we were waiting for Lion King!!! Once was enough....:lmao:

I'm glad to hear this (over and over again!) since we never saw it!

Sounds like you did have a great time, Becky! :yay:

Is it normal for you not to know your cabin number when you cruise? I don't think I would like that either.

It's not on DCL, you know your stateroom when you book (or at least you used to)... that would be really annoying! You can usually choose it, actually.

Nicholas is still coughing and running a fever. I guess I will break down and take him to the dr. today. My concern is pneumonia, since he has no other symptoms. He had it when he was 11 months, and all he had then was an extremely high fever.

Oh no! I hope it isn't pneumonia, and that he's feeling better (or gets something to clear it up) quickly! :wizard:

Hooray for Alyssa losing a tooth! :yay:

Elizabeth

All the windows replaced?? :scared1: I would be taking princess to my house.

Momboss said I can do that, but I worry about leaving the house unsecured. We'll see how hot it gets in the house! :scared:

We just got back from DQ. Apparently Alyssa decided that she needed to go "celebrate" losing her first tooth.

I like DQ, but there isn't one anywhere around here.

Sounds like a very memorable trip, Deb. I agree that since they added the tip into the DDP service has gone downhill considerably. There are rumors about the 09 DDP offering a 'lite' plan, which would be 2 CS and a snack a day.

No tip for DDP, just for large parties and for DDE.

We don't have the DDP, but are using the DDE card. The tip is automatically added with the DDE.

So I guess we'll get shafted on service at all of the meals we pay for with DDE. But I plan to spring the DDE on them at the last minute. I am horrible at remembering to tell them up front.

I'm not sure about the DDP, but they add 18% to any size party using the DDE. What amazes me most is that they don't tell you they add the tip and they put the little cards in the binder that explain that tip is NOT included :confused3 My bet is that people end up double tipping because of it.

I am going to watch carefully. :thumbsup2

Aw glad Terra had such a good time & that Phil was able to share this with her :goodvibes

How sweet! :goodvibes

Jen in case I miss you, hope you have a wonderful time!

Stephanie sorry about the goldfish :guilty:

Night all!

Have a FABULOUS trip, Jen!!

Stephanie, sorry about the fish! Mom and I were talking about DS's goldfish the other day. She gave it to him, and if she is remembering correctly that fish is about 6 years old. I think we have had it for 4 years. Mom won it at the state fair and gave it to DS after the first couple of years! Our pet sitter is always amazed that we still have the SAME fish. :rotfl2:

You and your Mom have them.

Thanks!

The cake is wonderful, Amy. And I love the picture of you all singing Happy Birthday to Matty. You all look so happy! :goodvibes

Mmmm. Cake!
Glad Matty had a fun birthday!
Noah is scrumptious! Congrats again!! :goodvibes

Yes, I keep forgetting that. Just like anywhere, for parties of 8 or more the tip is added.

I think it is 6 or more.

Nicholas is still coughing and running a fever. I guess I will break down and take him to the dr. today. My concern is pneumonia, since he has no other symptoms. He had it when he was 11 months, and all he had then was an extremely high fever.

I hope the Dr. can see him today! :wizard:

Enjoy your trip Jen!!!!:woohoo:

Nope. My DGD has a summer reading list and also summer workbook. She needs to read everyday. She loves it.:goodvibes

You've got them!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :cloud9:

Jennifer the girls are just too adorable for words.:goodvibes :goodvibes

All in all, it sounds like the trip is a success. Really glad you are having fun. Glad the parks are still as much fun as always.:goodvibes

Love these Amy. You and Kevin have the nicest looking kids. Love, love, love the meeting with new little brother!!:goodvibes

Elizabeth, you Mom will be in my thoughts. Lots of hugs coming your way.:cloud9:

Bernadette, your hubby will be in my thoughts. Lots of hugs coming your way.:cloud9:

Becky, good to see your trip was fun.:cool1:

Sorry about the goldfish but thanks for the quotable post!!

The food was fine at my Grandma's but she was in rare wicked form...I do feel kind of bad because she is obviously lonely but she brought it on herself.

I stayed up way too late to finish a book last night. The first time in a long time a) I've read a book in such short order and b) that I want to recommend to all of you. Annie G. Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral is an amazing, amazing book that reminded me a lot of the DDA.:lovestruc

We are heading camping this morning and I won't be back until Monday evening. So I really won't be able to post. :rotfl:

Beth-if you start your adventure before I get back I can't wait to me you next Monday. PM where you are going first on Monday and the best contact #.

Jennifer--by the way, im addicted to the flair! ive been sending and taking some for me like crazy :)

oaky im erally leaving now :)

So we're at the 20 day mark. I had a Disney nightmare last night.

We checked in and there was another family in our room! :scared1: ON PURPOSE! They had changed the policy and you had to share rooms. :scared: Well, the other family was weird (parents and a little kid) but we stayed in there the first night.

The next day we tried to switch rooms. They gave us a room where there was a public restroom just inside our room door, so we had to leave our room unlocked so people could get to the restroom. I went to complain about it. While I was gone the check-out deadline passed so the door key wouldn't work (I know - it wasn't supposed to ever lock, but whatever!) So ALL of our stuff was in that room - luggage, park tickets, money, everything. They wouldn't give me another room because I didn't have any money - it was locked in the other room! And they wouldn't open the room for me to get our stuff out. :headache: I went to the concierge desk but the lady told me they weren't open. So I went outside and had a bowl of Raisin Bran (I don't like raisins) and then I told DH I was going back in to stand in the line. Weird!

Did I mention that I spent a good part of the day yesterday reading "Your horrendous resort experiences" and a thread on the DVC about someone's awful trip to AKV? :rolleyes1

Yesterday was girls' day out here. I took Kristin and her best friend Ashley (who watched over Button while we were in Boston) out for the day. We left here and went downtown. Shopped in the little stores and I bought Kristin a new Vera Bradley purse. Other than a plain black microfiber one she has never liked VB so I was delighted to see that there was one of the new styles and patterns that she liked. Birthday present out of the way! I also got a new straw hat for myself. It is black with a black and khaki ribbon. I find myself wearing hats more and more these days. Kristin and Bob say it is because my Dad always wore a hat.

Then we went to dinner. Ate at the new outdoor Kybecca Wine Bar http://kybeccawinebar.wordpress.com/ because Ashley had wanted to try it. This whole afternoon and evening was a thank-you to her since she would not take any money for watching Button for us. We had a wine tasting before dinner. There was a nice white and an outstanding red that we all really liked. Then we went outside to the wine bar. A couple of bottles of a crisp French white Bordeaux and some wonderful food later, and we were content. Back into the shop we went and came out with a few bottles to add to our wine collections.

We walked through downtown and stopped at the coffee shop and had after dinner coffees. Then we stupidly went to buy a swimsuit for Kristin since Ashley's family has invited her to go to the Outer Banks with them for the upcoming week. Moms... do not... I repeat... DO NOT take your older daughters shopping for a swim suit. It does not matter what you say, how you say it, if you say it or just look like you would say it... there is nothing good to come of this kind of outing. 'nuff said.

A lovely day/evening that lasted 7 hours! (And Bob was a happy man since her was not required to attend the hen party. He had beans and wieners at home for a "cowboy supper.")

Nicholas is still coughing and running a fever. I guess I will break down and take him to the dr. today. My concern is pneumonia, since he has no other symptoms. He had it when he was 11 months, and all he had then was an extremely high fever.

Poor Nicholas. I hope the doctor gets to the bottom of the cough and fever very quickly. Hoping for nothing more than a viral thing.... NO pneumonia.

So we're at the 20 day mark. I had a Disney nightmare last night.

With the possible exception of Kristin, you have the most convoluted dreams ever, Elizabeth!

You know, maybe if you spent more waking time trying to work out all the possible angles of your trips your subconscious wouldn't feel the need to work overtime as you sleep. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Theresa, I know it's late but...

Have a great weekend camping!
