DDA Chapter 9

It sounds like 3 good things happened today. I'm glad things are looking up. How is Mom today?

Thanks, Deb! I didn't talk to Mom yesterday. I will call her today. I told Diva if she feels funny about something (like if Mom seems "off") that she needs to call and get somebody to help her.

Safe travels!! I hope you guys have a terrific time!! :cool1:
I am so jealous that you will get to meet Captain Sig at Epcot (July 10-13)! I forgot to go back to Norway last year when he was there. I love Deadliest Catch!

I think we're all set to go. The camper is packed, the house is clean, two kids are at my parent's house and the third is supposed to be going to sleep. Chris has been sleeping for a couple of hours now. It should be quick getting out of here in the morning. I have the last load of laundry washing now. Once it goes in the dryer I can go to bed.

I'm really excited, but nervous too. I just pray that we all make it safely since we not travelling together.

We have an amber alert for a 12 year old girl that's been missing since yesterday morning. The town she is missing from is only 30 miles from here. What is this world coming too?

I hope they found the girl! :wizard:

We met Bob at the mall near BWI. He was waiting for us at a Dave & Busters which I had never even heard of until this week! After a beer at their amazing bar we had dinner at a local brewpub and have checked into our Springhill Suites for the night.

Those of you traveling and looking for a little more than a room need to look into this Marriott-owned chain. WiFi is free and there is an indoor pool and workout room. The suite has a little kitchenette and living room/work area. The sofa opens up to sleep two. Through an alcove there is a King bed with a small walk-in closet and then a divided bathroom. This is very roomy and reasonable, in my opinion. We are paying $169 for the night, but that also includes our parking for the next 8 days. The price also includes breakfast, but we will be long gone by then. :(

Safe travels, Elin! Have a wonderful time in Boston!!

So you guys remember the "graphic artist" who's grandmother rents the house next to us?

Today DH noticed there was child's dictionary in our milkbox so he was telling Lizzy how irresponsible she was for leaving the book outside and she tried to grab it away from him. So he asked her what was going on and she said there was a surprise in the book for him-which he didn't believe. There was actually a picture of newborn naked Joe in the book.:headache: So she knew she should never take a photo out of the photo album, she lied to DH AND she was going to humiliate Joe with it by showing it to the "artist". When I talked to her about it she said the "artist" told her to sneak it out of the house to show it to her. Lizzy will be punished as she's responsible for her actions but I am not looking forward to having to talk to the grandmother.

Ugh! :headache: Not again! I kind of think your only course of action is to talk to the grandmother. Do you know anyone who could help you map out that conversation? School counselor, pediatrician, etc? Good luck!!

End of July.

I will be thinking of you guys and hoping for the best!!
My mom starts chemo at the end of July, so it sounds like we'll need truck loads of pixie dust for that time frame!

so funny you mention Dave & Busters Elin...I have never been, but am thinking of taking the kids there next week for lunch

Amy started it. :rolleyes1

Princess has play group today with her preschool classmates, and I think we are going to hit the grocery store. Maybe we'll do the store later and swim before lunch. We'll see how hot the 100 degrees feels and go from there!

Hi Beth! :)

Anything fun going on today?

Not really. I need to get this house in some semblance of order, because Nationals start tomorrow. I'll be working so many days next week that I won't be able to see straight.

We are going to a friend's end-of-school party later today. I need to make a salad of some sort for that. Any suggestions?

I'm a big fan of this, but I don't know if you have the ingredients or the time to wait for jello to set. You don't have to make the parfait version...it's faster to make it in a 10 x 13 inch pan. Yum!

Recipe:

1 1/2 c. pretzels, crushed
1 1/2 T. sugar
1/2 c. margarine or butter, melted
8oz. cream cheese
1/2 c. sugar
5oz. whipped topping
2 three oz. pkg. of Jello

Instructions:
Combine first three ingredients. Spread on cookie sheet and bake 5 minutes in preheated 400° oven. Set aside to cool. Combine cream cheese and sugar; whip until fluffy. Fold in the whipped topping. Prepare Jell-O according to directions on box. Set aside to cool. Begin to layer into glass container in this order; pretzel mixture, cheese, Jell-O, pretzel mixture, cheese, and Jell-O. Refrigerate after each addition of cheese and Jell-O layer. Garnish with whipped topping and a cherry, if desired.

Hi everyone! It sounds like this thread could use a huge dose of PD, so here's a big one coming from Texas! :wizard:

Work, then vacation, then a business trip and now catch-up from all of that have had me way behind, then throw in baseball, Baptisms, camps etc. I'm sorry I wasn't around to lend more support.

I had a fabulous visit with Kristine earlier this week between my conference and flight back home. K -- please tell Bill that I expect to get to meet him next time.

All the pictures that have been posted are terrific. It's funny how most of you I haven't met face-to-face, but those pictures can bring such a smile to my face. Thanks for posting them and please post more! (Amy -- the pics of the kids in their "Texan" gear were so cute!)

Happy Birthday to Debbie! party:

Happy Belated Birthday to the Figs! party:

Mac -- it's great to see you around, though I'm sorry for the circumstances. Don't forget that you have a fan club here in Dallas if you need us. I'm happy to help, and I'm sure Elizabeth and Lindsay would as well. My husband was laid off and looking for a job for four months recently. He took his time and found a great job that he seems to like, though he's only been there a few months so I'm still praying it works out.

I'd better get back to work -- the kids get out of soccer camp at 12, then we have baseball lessons and I need to run an errand for Merrie, plus we have a baseball tournament over an hour away from us this weekend. Gosh -- I hate it that it's close to a fab outlet mall...

That sounds YUMMY! If I get myself to the store soon, I can probably get it done.

I'll be expecting your call.

Bernadette. Keep your kids AWAY from that family. It sounds like there is abuse going on in the household with the potential of it happening to your kids. That little girl shouldn't behave that way and the fact that she is coaxing Lizzy to behave in an inappropriate manner is worrysome. I know that you think the Grandmother and he male friend are very nice, but that IS the MO for pedifiles. They must gain the trust of their victims and their families in order to pull off the horrific acts that they do. Maybe I'm wrong, and I hope so, but it is much better to protect your family anyway

Deb, You got it right on the money so I will quote your response. I totally agree.

Good morning!

I booked my December flights yesterday!! I used our American miles. AA is changing the fee structure next year so you have to use more points for a ticket...:headache: But I am booked! Yay!:dance3:

Thanks for the info...I feel a little better...I was starting to wonder if it was an appropriate place to take kids...I kept getting mixed vibes from different people...either they think it's GREAT for kids...or people HATE IT...I do wonder though if the people who hate it...dislike it because of the money for the games...I can only imagine how quickly it goes

We were just there celebrating BIL's college graduation. It's a lot of fun. Take advantage of the power lunch combo (buy a $15.99 lunch, get a "free" $10 game card). Also, check your Entertainment Book for more game coupons (we blew through our $20 in less than an hour).

Good morning :)

Seems the Dis was down for me & Chanon this morning. Must not have liked us :rotfl:

It was quite fun, I'd have to agree :)

Bill wanted to come and I wouldn't let him :rotfl:I came home to find him spending quality time with the children.....watching the movie ALIEN!!! :scared1: I had to laugh, here I am downloading Mary Poppins for us to watch as a family....Mary Poppins sure is a far cry from Alien

I had a fabulous visit with Kristine earlier this week between my conference and flight back home. K -- please tell Bill that I expect to get to meet him next time.

Are you ok? Tired, or feeling sick? You've got to take care of yourself right now. Is there any chance of you and Kyle tag teaming through the night? One of you could get sleep while the other played parent. There were many nights when Alan and I did that.

Please take care!

I was feeling really sick, but it was short-lived. I slept some, and feel fine today! :goodvibes

Jen-I love the pictures of the girls:goodvibes Once Abi was old enough to be out of a crib my two quite often slept the way Avey and Elise do...it's the absolutely sweetest thing I've ever seen, a bond nobody can break. :lovestruc

I think you should be doing a little more taking it easy, please, especially if today is another 98 degree day!

I intend to, today! Alan is working from home, so the kids have to find someplace else to play with their friends. Consequently, my house is cool, and quiet! I didn't sleep well last night (did I mention that lately my husband is SNORING!), so a nap is definitely in my future.

The temperature actually went down to 92 degrees today. Balmy!

I got out of the shower today to find that Katie (all on her own) was sweeping the floors, cleaning the kitchen counters, and generally pitching in without complaint! What a great surprise!!!

My ranch potato salad is always a hit! Let me know if you want the recipe!
