letting yall know dad goes in surgery tomorrow at 7 am and its a 2-3 hr surgery. if i can get to a computer i will update if not it will have to wait till Sunday we have to move out of the house while they paint and stain the cabinets so i will chat with yall later.

Karen, loads of good thoughts for your dad's surgery tomorrow! :wizard:
The hospital where my mom was had free WiFi. I didn't bring my laptop on the trip, but if I would have I could have used it at the hospital.

Deb, I hope that Colby is feeling better soon! Your ticker looks amazing, huh?

I can't wait...I'm too excited to sleep...Are we there yet :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It's just too bad that you couldn't make a jog from Colorado to Utah. Then I could tell you in person! How's that for throwing a wrench in your planning works.

I'm still waiting for some DDA to take me up on the offer of a real pioneer meal cooked in Dutch ovens over an open fire. That's got to tempt someone!!!

Someday we would love to head west...someday.

Just talked to my dad, and he has some exciting Disney news. He's booked our family trip to Disneyland for the first week of June 2009. Peanut will be almost 6 months old, so that will be eminently doable! I'm so excited!!! Haven't told the kids yet, as they will immediately want a countdown calendar!

Even better, Alan mentioned that he wouldn't be against a winter trip to WDW with our little family. I'm hoping that we can use our tax return next year to put a deposit down on a trip for late 2009 or early 2010. What do y'all think? When's the best time? I know the marathon weekend is in early January, but we could probably work to avoid that (unless I'm up to doing the half again!). Oh, the thoughts that are working their way through my head right now!!! I'll be having Disney dreams tonight!

That is very exciting. You have so much to look forward to in the next year.

Just talked to the doctor and it seems that all is well. So, I can stop worrying and just be. Thanks for all your well wishes and pixie dust. I need all that I can get!
Sounds like good news!!!
Here is a picture of Leighanna's toothless grin. :hyper:

Adorable!!
I am still trying to get Jen back here;)
Well..i MAY be back for a visit in a few months! just decided haha
Since someone mentioned the Nick themed ship, here's a new ship by RCCL that's coming out in 2009.

Looks HUGE!

I got my errands run. Colby now has medication and we have all the supplies for our trip. Tomorrow I just need to run to the restaurant to load up on ice for our cooler. We are heading out to finish packing the camper and then we can close it up for the most part. I'm sure we'll need to toss a few more things in, but it shouldn't be too bad.

sounds great Glynis

I attended a wake tonight and it's really got me in a funk.

By the way, I got a phone call today..I have an interview Friday morning. Its with a Child Study Team--I dont know anything else! I got a message after the offices were closed so I will be calling them in the morning to find out what type of position and that stuff..It is not in the district I was waiting on--so we shall see...

I think im going to bed, thanks for checking on me theresa

Keep us posted! I think often of you as you wait and try and find the right job. It will come!

Sorry I've been mia for so long. Real life gets in the way sometimes...
One of the things that tripped me up was my car. I had to trade in Ms. Blueberry.

So I'm now the proud owner of a salsa red special edition Wolfsburg. :cheer2: I call her Wolfie.

Little story. We were on the way to my dear niece's graduation party and I asked my DD to find a station. One word of caution. Satelite radio is uncensored. She turned to hip-hop and got the NON-radio version of some rap song! :faint: I quickly pressed the preset for radio Disney and we experimented no more...:rotfl2:
Did anyone hear about Nickleodeon building a huge cruise ship? I suppose I could google it.:duck:

Off to bed.. Nitey, nite DDA.:cloud9:

Aww, goodbye Mrs. Blueberry! Congratulations on the new car :)

Leslie was roughly the same size as Avery when she was born: 5 pounds 2 ounces. We took the girls to the hospital the day after we got home for their heel pricks, and when we got them home, I had to snap a picture of her in her car seat. I had made covers for them, and you seriously couldn't tell there was a baby in there. She was snuggled down into the bottom of the seat, and it just looked like a blanket tossed in the car seat.

It's amazing how tiny they are, huh? I remember holding both of them, at one point, and thinking that it was amazing that I was holding 2 babies instead of just one!

Taking care of my "first twins" (Ben and Savannah) for almost 2 years, I just love how much easier it is to hold two 5 pounders than it was to hold 2 16 pounders! :rotfl: I do have some good carseat shots that show how tiny they are. And this morning, I got one where Avery had fallen through the neck of her gown (arms out, it was around her chest/belly at night. Whenever I get them posted, there are a few out of the hospital that almost do them justice! ;) Was Leslie the larger or smaller twin?

How long do you have to keep up the 3 hour thing? Mary was a good eater right from the first, but Leslie wasn't. However, they told us that she was doing well enough by the time we went home, that we didn't need to wake her up to eat. She got a lot better as time went on.

The neonatologist that followed them in the hospital wants us to do q3hours until they (really Avery, but we keep them on the same schedule) are growing consistently. I actually worked closely with this doc a lot at Children's, so I feel like I know her plan pretty well. As it stands, I think we will keep on it until they are about at term, and as long as they are eating consistently and growing well (and Avery is above the 10th percentile and staying there), then we'll continue every 3 during the day and stretch to 4 or 5 (if they sleep that long) at night. They were both eating like champs in the hospital, but now Avery struggles a bit. She's still doing well overall, she's just the nosiest baby. Since they are just now at about 37.5 weeks it's not surprising to me that at times when she's distracted it isn't as easy for her. They continue to ultimately eat well, it just takes some coaxing with about 50% of the feeds.

It's nice to be back on line and chatting with you all.

I've been a bit nervous lately, as I feel like there might be something wrong with my pregnancy. I began feeling the baby move while in London. Not a lot, and not every day. When I was with my parents, the same thing. However, I haven't felt any movement since we got home Sunday night. I'm trying not to worry myself into miscarriage, but it's getting harder. Alan is not here, either. It's primary election day here, and he's covering the results. So, I'm alone, trying not to worry.

I think I'll give my doctor a call in the morning and see if I can come in. I have an appointment on the 2nd of July, but I really need to put my mind at ease about this. I guess I'm on edge because of the miscarriage last summer. I really think that would devastate me at this point.

Since it looks like I'm the only one around, I'll finish uploading my photos and work on my trip report.

We've missed you! I'm glad you felt the baby move a bit more, and that you didn't hesitate to call your OB. I didn't stop being paranoid until literally after both babies were visible in warmers out of my uterus, so I can empathize. I think it is fairly normal to feel them intermittently at 24 weeks, so I hope you are feeling more comfortable with that now.

Debbie, lots of hugs and prayers to get you out of your funk! I can't believe the things that happen. I guess I have every right to be as overprotective of Leighanna as I am.

Elizabeth, glad to see you made it home. :cool1: on getting your ME tags.

Glyinis, glad to see you posting! We have missed you! Lots of prayers to you that peanut holds on!

Leighanna lost one of her front teeth tonight. She is so funny! She was talking and surprising herself with how she sounded. Her new favorite word to say is Thursday! Or should I say "srursday"! I need to get a picture of her. She looks different, but still cute in a "redneck" sort of way!

I am having severe leg cramps and I am afraid to go to sleep! Must be from working out in the yard and pulling weeds on my hands and knees!

Hooray for Leighanna!

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

Sounds like our little family could use this:

2BearsHug.gif

That is the most adorable clipart! :goodvibes:

Wow! Y'all are quiet today! :confused3

Then it's your fault! I logged on to about 20 pages this evening! :rotfl:

I'm off to pump and feed, it's (always) that time again!

I'll try to finish catching up shortly, otherwise take care! :goodvibes:

We had to feed Katrina every 4 hours for a couple of weeks. She was in the hospital a week because she was so weak. She was in an oxygen isolette for the 4 or 5 days. She was just too weak to eat. She would fall asleep after sucking for a minute or two.

So here is the update on my interview-I left a message for the woman that called me yesterday--She called me back at work and gave me a time for the interview, directions, etc. She said they do not need me to bring my portfolio and the interview will be 10-15 minutes. So I asked if it was for a specific position or a general interview. She said it was for a positino that is TWO HOURS a day, afterschool, working one on one with an autistic child.

I said thansk and got off the phone and had a meltdown. I wasj ust so looking forward to this interview. this is not a job that I can do--I cannot have just 2 hours a day afterschool--I am still goign to the interview but i am very discouraged..so just wanted to sahre the "update"

 I am sure that the right job will come along for you, but I know that it is hard. There are times that I wish that we could just have a quick glimpse at the future to know that things will work out when we are in the middle of frustrating times.

I was able to get Colby an appointment this morning. It seems that one of his molluscum lesions became infected so he has a bit of cellulitus under his knee. She said that normally she would just treat it with hot compresses and gentle pressure, but since we're going on vacation she gave me an antibiotic prescription. Of course our pharmacy didn't have it in stock and I didn't have his insurance cards with me as they are in the camper so I need to run out tonight to fill the prescription. Hopefully it will do the trick. We are doing hot compresses too, but there is no drainage yet. We also found out while we were there that what we thought was poison ivy on Summer's hand is actually her first outbreak of molluscum. So now she has a couple of years of outbreaks to look forward to :headache:

I came home and got Nick's room completely cleaned and went out mowed the rest of the lawn. Chris did all the trim and push mowing last night so I just had to ride the riding mower for 1 1/2 hours. At least it is done now. tonight we will finish up the housework and begin packing the back of the truck. By the time Chris gets home from work tomorrow I hope to be completely ready.
Hope Colby is all cleared up for the trip. Poor Summer!

You sound ready to go!

I need to think about WDW tickets, too! Now that Laura knows, I think I'm set...we'll need 10-day with hopping and water parks. I was waiting to talk to her about water parks (though I could have figured the answer) and to make sure that we didn't want to switch to a package with DDP. Definitely room only plus tickets. Do you sell 10 days? The AAA magazine only lists up through 7 day.
What are your August dates? I looked on the trips thread but I think I am the only one who hasn't changed plans.:rotfl: I have had good luck ordering through www.undercovertourist.com I used them, my friend Mary K used them and so has my friend Dorinda. The mousesavers newsletter always has a disocunt link.

Mom just finished her Dr. appointment. She said the surgeon thinks the fatigue was from the infection, so her energy should pick up as she gets over the infection. She said she is still tired today, but not as bad as yesterday. She's driving, but Diva is with her so that's something. Hopefully if she falls asleep at the wheel either Diva will grab it or she will shout and wake Mom up!

Diva told me Ms. Selfish is planning to go up there at the end of July. I was pleased, until Diva said it is the whole Selfish family, NOT just my sister. Mom does NOT need 2 undisciplined toddlers running around right after her first chemo infusion! :furious: Diva wasn't entirely sure which week Ms. Selfish was planning for, so I suppose they could go before her first chemo. But they will probably time it to show up right when Mom is feeling horrible. :headache:
Hope Mom will respond to the antibiotics quickly. Your Mom doesn't toddlers around after chemo getting her sick. How can Ms Selfish be so thoughtless.:confused3

I'm still waiting for some DDA to take me up on the offer of a real pioneer meal cooked in Dutch ovens over an open fire. That's got to tempt someone!!!
How long is the offer good for? Maybe in a few years!

 How exciting for a DL trip! I took Joe & Lizzy to WDW for their 7th birthdays so I will be at WDW for Emma's 7th birthday on 1/21/10. Joe & I had perfect weather for our trip 1/6 to 1/11 year. Crowds were very managable and we got a great annual pass rate at Pop of $49/night.

If you go Dec I would think about the 1st or 2nd week. I went for 3 nights 12/14 to 12/17 in 2006 and I thought it was a bit crowded. Dec has lots of great things to offer but it does make things at home a bit crazy with the holidays.

I'm waiting for that one! It's done at 20 weeks here, so I've got a bit. It's scheduled for July 22nd.

Ooh, how exciting! Are you going to find out the gender?

That's wonderful! We love early December :goodvibes

Both of my girls do this, at least some of the time. We got preemie nipples after about a day home, and they have helped tremendously. Still, there are times when they just can't suck for long - especially Avery. Thankfully, with coaxing, we can stimulate the reflex at least and the nipple does the rest (they are the most ridiculously soft things I've ever seen). They do a really fabulous job eating at least half of the time though, and they are at least continuing to meet their minimum requirements. Worst case scenario, they would have to switch to high cal formula and a breast milk fortifier, all of which we already have from a formula rep. This should all become a thing of the past in the next couple of weeks, as they reach "term" :goodvibes

 Hang in there, Jen. I know this is very frustrating for you... know that I'm thinking of you and hoping the right job finds you soon! :wizard:

Deb,
Hope the medication helps Colby quickly. Poor little guy, that sounds painful.:wizard:

Glynis,
Horray for WDW & DL trips. I would say early in December for WDW for the lower crowds..it only gets worse as you get close to the holidays.

Tom,
Yay for the lost tooth!

Beth,
What a great iternerary!

Kristine,
How nice you got to have lunch with Marci!:thumbsup2
Our transfer bled last trip too. Katie is so done with matching shirts that I am not sure how many we plan on wearing in August.

Jen,
Hang in there!

Karen,
:wizard: for Dad's surgery.

Elizabeth,
How's your back?

Both of my girls do this, at least some of the time. We got preemie nipples after about a day home, and they have helped tremendously. Thankfully, with coaxing, we can stimulate the reflex at least and the nipple does the rest (they are the most ridiculously soft things I've ever seen). Katrina did it ALL the time. We had these little teeny bottles with really soft nipples. The nurses taught us how to stimulate the reflex. She was still lucky to get an 1/8 of the bottle down before she'd be asleep again. We'd keep waking her up to get the mandatory amount down. Then she'd sleep until it was time to wake her up to feed her again.

We realized after having Becky that it was probably good that we didn't know how strong a baby could be because if Katrina had been born after Becky, I'd have been scared stiff with Katrina. The one thing that we had in our favor was that the girls were born less than 30 miles from one of the top baby hospitals of the time in Grand Rapids. We were told if there was any question at all, she would have been transferred immediately. Since they were so close, it was standard practice. Since she was never transferred, we figured it was no big deal.

Becky was born, they laid her on my chest and she lifted her head and body up off my chest within minutes. It was amazing. She was never still while she was awake.

Isn't it amazing how all babies are different.

I really, really, really want to do Utah. That, along with the plans to make it all the way to Disneyland, had to be scrapped due to time and money. Oh, I wish we had unlimited time and money. ::yes::

I know. In a perfect world, we could all be like Jeannie, and blink our way to visit each other.

Well, we like them! :teeth: I kept saying in the hospital, "The nurses sound genuine when they say they are really cute babies. I can't tell if they're telling the truth or it's just a mother-baby nurse line, but I of course think they are the best! :)"

I mostly am still beyond impressed with the photographers skills!

They are DARLING!!! You can believe the nurses. I can't believe how beautiful they looked right from the beginning!
