DDA Chapter 8

I have an entire day to myself tomorrow! I have a hair appointment at 11:30 but that is all that is on my schedule. I cannot wait.

Good night, friends!

I think the camera thing is an end of year thing to capture those last moments in the current activities. I have noticed them recently, when I have not previously at similar events. I covet them very much. I really would like a DSLR before my trip, but keep telling myself what I have takes good enough pictures for now.

Eventually that is something I will purchase instead of coveting. I have wanted one for 5+ years. I know it is something that would get used. I use what I have weekly if not more often. I am hoping with the economy being crappy that I could get a great deal, but at the same time keep thinking it is frivolous and unnecessary.

As for the weight I know the feeling of wanting to be a size 4. For whatever reason I notice it more now, then when I weighed 250 pounds. I guess I am more aware of my body size. It drives me crazy because I know how I far I have come, but at the same time want to weigh 50 pounds less.:rolleyes1

Night all it is back to work tomorrow. My weekend was far to short.
I've been wanted a dSLR since I bought my first digital camera but I do know that my Sony is the best for right now-especially for Disney with the kids. It wasn't just the dSLR's that got me but the fact that lots of them had what looked like professional equipment. I find it hard to believe that they all knew what to do with it.

I don't think I could be a size 4 unless I was really sick or something so I think I'd be happy with a 14. I did so for so long-lost almost 60 pounds but then my Mom got sick. That was 3 1/2 years ago and I just can't seem to find the gusto to make a change like I had then.:confused3

I already PMed Kristine with this information, but I thought some of you may be interested as well. The Pirate Party now starts at 7:30pm on the Wonder. They are testing it out. The early dinner is at 5:45pm and late dinner starts at 8:30pm. More information is available here.

Bernadette - you don't need a dSLR to take wonderful pictures. You already do. And I know that if you set your mind to making a change in your life, you will do it. You've done it before, so I know you can do it again. When you are ready, you will.

Good morning...

Today is the first day of summer vacation!:cool1: It should be interesting with all the kiddos, all 7 of them, here today. On Thursday, I'll have 9, which I am not looking forward to at all. :faint:

Theresa- I am sorry that I missed this before but I am sorry that you lost your uncle as well.'

Bernadette-'s YOU are an AWESOME person just the way you are!! And I don't think any of us care that you aren't a size 4.

Elin- Enjoy your day to yourself today, sounds heavenly!

Becky- Sorry your weekend had to come so fast, I hate it when that happens.

Marci- Glad that you all had a nice weekend!

Debbie- Congrats on the AP's.

Jen- I watched Army Wives last night, what did you think? I was bawling all through it.

Jen- I watched Army Wives last night, what did you think? I was bawling all through it.

Cried the entire time! my dad walked in and was like "you do know its a show, right?"
SUCH a good episode--none of my friends watch it and it was killing me not talking to someone about it!

have a good day all! its supposed tobe 98 here today--some schools have already closed!

Robyn - That doesn't sound like much of a vacation to me!!

If anyone wants to see Vicki's photopass photos please EMAIL me and I'll send you the link. Since her sister's kids are in the photos she doesn't want the link on the thread, but gave the the ok to forward the email.:thumbsup2

I just looked at them and they are really good photos. They are having an awesome time. The Prince and Princess costumes were perfect. Not to mention Chuck saving one of the girls from Captain Hook lol

Deb, I would love to have the link when you have a minute. Thanks! :)

I've been a fowl little mood..... I discovered my Amex bill was a day late. Of course I just started using it more so I'm going to get hit hard on that.:headache: I took Friday off so DH could have a routine medical test. I went to Joe's concert and was feeling out of place with all the other moms who were young, size 4's, dressed in designer clothes and LOTS of them had VERY expensive dSLR's. I don't care about age or clothes but I would feel better being smaller and would love some of those expensive cameras I saw. I felt way out of place. When I brought Joe to soccer I was surprised again but all the moms who had expensive camera equipment. I'm nost talking dSRL's. They had huge expensive lenses too. Must be a new trend in this town. I suppose the heat doesn't help. We only have a room AC in just our bedroom.

Bernadette, Sorry about the AmEx bill. :headache: Do they have that option of getting an e-mail alert when your bill is almost due? We have that for a couple of our bank cards. I also ended up making a checklist of our monthly bills because the mail is so spotty sometimes. I missed a bill last year and didn't notice until we got the next statement. Luckily that wasn't one that would have kicked us into a default APR!
I will tell you, the moms around here aren't young but they are tiny and always look nice. Then there's me, in a baseball cap with no make-up, still trying to lose the same weight I have been trying to lose for the past 12 years. They don't have nice cameras, but believe me, they could if they felt like it. Try not to let them get you down! At the band concert there was only one camera nicer than ours. BUT DH doesn't know how to use the dSLR to it's full potential so our pics aren't any better than what I used to take with the disposable. Don't tell him I said that.

What is it they say on the photo boards? "Buying a Nikon doesn't make you a photographer, it makes you a Nikon owner." Or maybe it's Canon. You get the point. We have spent over $1000 on dSLR stuff since Black Friday. I nearly choked when I realized that. Yesterday DH said he needs special bag for $90. And he needs a tripod. I get needing the tripod, but we are going to fight about the bag. Your pictures are stunning! I would much rather have the fabulous photos that you take as opposed to the expensive equipment and disposable quality photos we get. Don't tell DH I said that, either. I am just waiting for him to get frustrated and abandon the whole thing. Then I will know where you can get 2 dSLRs, a flash, and 3 lenses in addition to what came with the cameras. Cheap. ;)

Stop! You are scaring me! :scared1: I go back to work today. It might take a few days to get Princess back on her normal schedule, but I think it will be OK. We need to get serious about potty training.

Marci - Thanks! Glad the boys had a good weekend!

I guess I should go get in the shower. Want to be nice and clean before I get in the pool! :rotfl: We have 70% chance of storms though, so maybe not.

Deb, can you send me the link to work please? Thanks!
Is she not responding to your PMs? :confused3

She and I corresponded quite a bit yesterday and she posted on the "moms to be" thread this morning...
Thanks! I hope she feels better soon! ;) You'll be sure to post right? (I'm hoping that they know that you should be the DDA contact! :rotfl:
I'm pretty sure the bridal stores still do this.

Chanon, do you have a Bridal and Formal or a David's Bridal near you?
I have a Davids - do they dye shoes that they don't sell? They too, do not carry wide shoes. :headache:

So apparently I missed the cruise thread that shows that staggered dining stopped too. I guess it's OK...I'm gonna have to go reprint the schedule...see the new Nassau schedule and mull over the pirate party.

It just changed to this and it is only on pirate night it is not staggered. In order to accommodate Pirate night they do not have the staggered dining this night. It appears all the other nights on the Wonder still have the staggered dining. At least from what I have seen. The Magic still has the 9:30pm ish Pirate night.

Have a great day

Also, I agree with you that one of the nicest gifts I receive is a card. I have long ago forgotten what gifts most students have given me, but I have 15-20 cards that I have kept over the years because they were just so special.

That reminds me of a story from dance recital the other day. The studio owner/main teacher had a book that one of the dancers had made for her when the girl was 8yo. MrsB brought her up during the senior recognition and gushed about how she had kept it for the last 10 years. Now that the girl was graduating, she had made a copy of it for herself, but wanted to gift it back to her for her our keepsake collection. The girl started tearing up.

Well, I almost got caught up, but now I've got to get my daughter up and hit the road for work. The kitchen was grouted on Fri so it should be ready for me to set up today. Appliances are supposed to come on Wed and I'm really hoping that they do as Cinderella and BigSis come back that day and I'll have 5 people to keep fed, etc. Not so easy anymore with packing lunches here, fast food and microwave meals.

Catch you all tonight!

And since I caught Jen's Army Wives comment as the page loaded I have jump in with a "totally agree!" Bawling like crazy at the end. Such a great episode to start the season and so well done.

I did PM Jennifer and here is her response. Let's put her and the girls at the top of our prayer list, she could definitley use it :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hi there! Thanks for the PM. I am coming on mostly just when I have a PM notification, so I'm sorry to have you all worried! In addition to just being ready to deliver, I continue to get more and more sick. They're keeping an eye on liver function because the itching, etc has gotten so bad that I literally sleep for about 20 minutes at a time, an hour a two a night, and am covered from head to toe with marks and swelling from when I couldn't "not itch".

I'm sure as a cycle because of both pregnancy and the lack of sleep, I've gotten sick on top of any of that. I started with a sinus infection, which is now bronchitis... and I'm hoping it stops there. They have Kyle and I watching my oxygenation, using my asthma meds, etc (in addition to the rest I was on), and are just walking a fine line between mine and the girls' health until it's time to deliver.

From Jennifer:
I appreciate your concern, and you can pass along my thanks to the thread. Again, I apologize for not keeping up and checking in, but "pregnancy discomforts" - even those coming from measuring WELL beyond what anyone should before delivering - have just been topped by illness that would probably keep me away not pregnant. I have literally just spent the days wandering around trying to a) breathe and b) stay somewhat comfortable for a few minutes at a time.

Hopefully sooner than later I will have delivered and will be on the mend from this illness as well, and I might be able to function again! Thanks again for checking in!

thanks for the update on Jennifer, Deb.

Did you see it (I am sure you know what I'm referring too) coming? Thankfully Eric was in bed when I was watching it or he would have been :rotfl2:

Anne Marie - That doesn't sound like much of a vacation to me!!

I know, but I don't have worry about getting Emma or Mo ready for and off to school. My mornings don't start until 8:30am now!

Deb, I would love to have the link when you have a minute. Thanks! :)

Crazy ain't it! Thankfully Emma is old enough to help out now.

My 2nd grader mom came over on Saturday to discuss the summer with me. We went over their schedule and ours and just sort of talked for about 2 hours. Well right before she left she mentioned that her DD wanted me to know that she didn't want to pick up after the dogs like I've asked her too. I about fell off my chair! I've NEVER EVER asked her to do so. It is Emma's job to do so and she does every day when she comes home from school. And I am outside when Emma does it so I know Allyson hasn't done it. But she told her mom that I make her go out and pick it up. We've had issues in the past as Allyson will get upset about something and tell me she is upset about something completely different so I can never fix what is really wrong. And the mom babies her and tells Allyson that it's ok to just tell her and not me and her mom will talk to me about it. I keep asking the mom that she needs to tell Allyson that I need to know when it starts so I can fix it right then and there, it's much easier than letting it fester. Thankfully, I've learned what sets her off and can usually get to the bottom of it but it's frustrating to know she will go home and tell her parents something different.
