DDA Chapter 8

I was looking at the "old pictures" thread & I got to thinking that I knew I had 1 or 2 pictures of me at Disney when I was 5. Just didn't know where it was. Well last night I found it.

We went for 1 day when my uncle was helping someone move to FL. It's from 1973. This is my grandma (who was 73 at the time born in 1899) She raised me while in her 70's. :worship: God sent me 2 angels (her & my uncle) to bring me up when my parents could not. I remember the Emporium & riding It's a Small World. Wish I had more pictures.

What a great picture! How wonderful that you had your Grandma and Uncle!

Glynis, your MIL is a whack job. Wait, I said that last time. Well, she's still a whack job. I hope Alan doesn't let her get to him. Can she assign guardianship of a disabled adult to someone without their permission?

Well, technically, Alan is Marci's payee, so guardianship is just a small step away. I honestly don't know what will happen with Marci, but I just can't deal with any more crap!

Well, I've already snapped at her two or three times. The hostess in me is mortified, but the rest of me doesn't care and is ready for them to go home.

Are they gone, yet? Did you survive?

I am sorry...but snap away!!

I think MIL's who need their eyelids detached slowly is the order of the day....who wants me first, you or Glynis??;)

Well, much as I'd love to have you. My MIL ran away last night to St. George, and is refusing any contact with her kids, so you're off the hook!

Well, so much for the plan for today. Chuck was cleaning out the front pond. Once a year, he drains it and cleans the liner and refills it. Well, I talked him into moving it. He has been wanting to move it farther away from the house for years so that he can walk behind it. We moved all the rocks, took out the liner, moved some of the flowers, Chuck filled in the old hole, I picked up rocks from the yard while he was filling the hold, laid out where the pond is going and I'm now making lunch.

What a B-otch. First of all calm down. She is not worth risking the stress for you or the baby. Secondly do what I do in situations like this. Consider the source. She is known to not be mentally stable and she has a history of manipulation. Her opinion of you or your husband really means nothing in reality as she has lost touch with reality. The thing you may not see is that you have given her guidelines, which she is now recognizing as she is trying to manipulate her way around them. We all can see that her relationship will not work out for any length of time. Look at it this way, if she disassocates herself from Alan then you will have that length of time to have a healthy pregnancy. Once her relationship ends she will find her way back, with more manipulation I'm sure. I know that this is my opinion, but it is based on what we have heard tell of her. I think it is probably best for Alan to stop communications with her though I'm sure it will be difficult for him. He can focus on what's truly important, your family, the one that you are building together. Give her time and space to realize that she is the one missing out, by then she will realize who she is married to now and that will be done or more likely he will realize that she is crazy and he will end it.

You are such a wise woman! This is exactly what Alan and I decided. If she wants to make peaceful overtures, we'll deal with that then. Until then, she's out of our lives, and our children's!

Glynis,
Consider the source...she's obviously 2 sandwiches short of a picnic. My MIL is too so I feel your pain. Hang in there & concentrate on keeping your stress level down for the babies sake. Hope Alan is taking all this well, even though she is toxic shes his mom & that has to hurt.

Thanks! It helps that you guys are here to listen and lend a shoulder. You don't know how much that means to me!

Anyone going to the Kennedy Space Center that wants a Save $5 on admission? It was in the Kraft Mac & Cheese box. Coupon not valid with any other discount or ticketed event. No cash value. Valid for up to 6 admissions purchased on one transaction. Offer expires 12/31/2008.

And, don't forget, if anyone is planning on going....contact your congressman/woman...they can get you tickets. I was so surprised when I opened my letter...it includes admission for all 5 of us...plus tickets for a tour as well. It was a little tedious to get the process moving...but well worth it for the savings.

Now that is precious! What wonderful memories it must bring back! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Well, the wedding was delightful, and now I'm off to help set up for the reception. So far, no MIL sightings. It's nice to know that Alan wasn't the only child to get her hate filled message. She sent one similar to 5 other children. We are all fed up!

Last night, Alan and I decided not to deal with it, so we took the kids to see Horton Hears a Who at the dollar theater. We went for pizza first, and then the movie. It was cute and the kids loved it!

Talk to you all, later!

Have a good time at the reception, Glynis! I hope Alan and his siblings are coping well, though it sounds like they are. Glad you all enjoyed the movie. We did too and I was happy to see it on the list for the free summer movies.

That's great...enjoy your family & don't let anything else disturb that.:thumbsup2

We just got home from dinner & a trip to the airport to see the Blue Angels flying squadron.

Off to watch the 3rd Star Wars...this one is supposed to be scarier as Anikin Skywalker turns into Darth Vadar.:scared:

Hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial day weekend.

Let go Elizabeth! It is a very hard thing to do but for you & your mom, you need to learn to do so. Like you said, she is your mother and DS's grandmother. You need to have pleasant memories for how ever long that is. You aren't going to change her. It is too late in her life for that.
Very well said, Vicki. Elizabeth, I hope you find a way to deal with all of this.

What a nice, memory. But Anne Marie, why do you only have one sock on? :rotfl:

I was just burning CD's of our pictures so that if anything happens to my computer we don't lose the pictures. I found this one and wanted to post.

Hmmm. I wonder if it is an ace bandage. I spent most of my teen years with one of those on my ankle wrapped up that high.

Wow. Were the boards down today or something?

We had a fun time in Baltimore. Traffic wasn't toooo bad, but there were some accidents on the major interstates, but I had the mapbook and we were able to negotiate around them. A little out of the way beats a lot of sitting in traffic.

So we got to Baltimore and ate our picnic lunch we took up with us. Then we met up with Robyn, Eric and the girls. Just as I suspected, Nicholas and Emma hit it off. We toured through a lot of the Aquarium and then went to the Dolphin Encounter. We were talked into sitting in the Splash Zone. I don't know which little imp to blame that on. Anyway, it looked like all was good, until the very end. Then we got a big dose of water. The kids got a kick out of it though, and had a good time. After that we toured through some more and we said our goodbyes. My clan went to the Immersion Theater to see the 4D show. Bethany didn't last through the previews. Bob ended up taking her out. There was a lot of things crawling under your seat, tickling your ankles, water spraying on you, etc. My kids and I liked it.

Of course we had to end our day with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. ;) We have lots of leftovers, so dinner should be easy the next few days.

Thanks for joining us today, Robyn. I wish we could have visited more, but it was nice to see you and yours again.
