DDA Chapter 8

We've done Amoxicillin and are on Augmentin now. Is it Omnicef you're talking about it? Mo was on that when her ears wouldn't clear up. That didn't even touch Mo's though. We had to have a antibiotic shot which was horrific, the medicine needs to go in slowly so the needle is in their leg for about a minute (it seems like 1,000 though) and then we had to stay there for an hour to see if she had a reaction. She had them 4 or 5 times. I so want to avoid that at all costs. I would much rather them just put tubes in and be done.

The diaper rash is horrific. I am definitely not on top of that. Lucy didn't have any issues the first few days on Augmentin but then woke up with one one morning and I can't get rid of it. She is sick of yogurt and I keep putting the extra acidophilus in her bottles.

Poor kiddos! I think Augmentin did do the trick for Matty. When he does get a diaper rash, it is really hard to kick. He's hit or miss with yogurt, but I found a powdered solution called Domeboro that you can buy over the counter, but you have to ask the pharmacist for it. You dissolve it in the bath for a nice soak. Between that and plenty of "airing out," I could usually win the battle! :wizard:

Thanks for the good wishes for Daniel. He has never been on such a winning team before so its exciting for him.

Amy,
Your bug pictures totally freaked me out!:scared1: There's nothing like the sound of crunching one of those little buggers in the backyard.

Amy - your kidlet-cicada pictures are wonderful!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

The cicadas are now mating, so we see many of them "in the position." My friend called me last night to tell me her 8-year-old son was separating them, thinking they were fighting! :rotfl:

Congratulations to Daniel! :yay:

Honestly, after dealing cockroaches in Texas for three years, I can handle these okay. They don't crunch quite as loud. However, I am not a fan of them flying and brushing against my face.

:wizard: Good luck!

DH got an automated call from Jet Blue Sunday saying his flights had changed(Lizzy & I are on a seperate itinerary). When they changed our flight home a month or so ago to a time that would get us into Boston at rush hour I called and switched us to a later flight. The automated call still had his old flight number but when I looked online they show him on the correct flight and the times on the phone where off too-not the same as what is listed online.:confused3 I don't know if I should call or just assume that what is online is correct.

I would call. With airlines you never know.

Thanks!

But I know I could get even better ones-especially on safari with a few thousand dollars worth of camera equipment. For now I'd rather spend the money on Disney trips!

We really need a new matress. I think I would feel better if I slept better. I just don't know what to do. The matress I liked (same as the heavenly beds at the Swan) will not fit up our stairs in queen size (we already have a split box spring). I don't know if I should go with a smaller depth matress (not too easy to find these days). Or if we should go with 2 extra long twins to make a king bed. We would have to rearrange the furniture in our room to do that but it would fit. We went to a small matress store close to home but I want to go to a large furniture store about 45 minutes from here. Maybe we can do that now that soccer is over.

We got a memory foam mattress, not the really expensive brand, but not the worst either. It took a few weeks for me to get used to it, but Chris and I both love it now. I do sleep much better and wake up without so many aches and pains. The king might be the way to go as more sleeping space is never a bad thing.

Before I forget.....any spare pixie dust would be greatly appreciated....I think I have found the perfect job for me and I have just sent off my resume. It's for admin. asst. for MY pastors:cool1:

Good night DDA!! and hope the bed bugs do night bite!!!

:wizard:  This is not spare either, I've been saving it up for you when you finally see a job that you want :wizard:

I think we are headed back to the doctors today with Lucy. She is still tugging on her ears and having a hard time sleeping. She was up A LOT last night and kept crying out in her sleep the rest of the time. I don't think that her ear is cleared up and she has been on medicine since the Friday of Memorial day weekend.

I hope that they can change her meds and put that smile back on her face ::yes:: As for diaper rashes, ask for a prescription ointment to treat yeasty diaper rashes or by some antifungal cream for atheletes feet (I know it sounds wierd, but it does work) Lotrimin. Colby never got a diaper rash that wasn't yeasty and it needed extra ointments to clear up.

I didn't plan on reading the WHOLE thing. Just a page or two so that I could post support!!! Though, I need some "down time" away from all the family and the DDA is usually just the thing! :lmao: :rotfl:

Oh No, too much family time :confused3 I'm seeing that in our near future. :lmao:

No taste tests, but these insects provide free entertainment EVERY day. Our walks to the park and pool no longer take 10 minutes, because Alyssa and Matty stop to talk to almost every single cicada, dead or alive! :rotfl:

We have had a couple of photo sessions. In the beginning, Alyssa would rather look, not touch, but she has since changed her tune. I guess it's better than having children who are deathly afraid and screaming their heads off (we see a lot of those kids in the neighborhood), but I wish they didn't have to pick up so many of them!

The photos are cute and I'm glad that your kids aren't afraid of them but Ewwwwwww. I'm not a big bug fan. Thankfully I haven't seen any in our neck of the woods.

Colby and I are about to embark on a busy day. We are chaperoning Nick's end of year trip which is to a local state park. They have fields, a pavillion and can swim in the little lake. That's from 9 - 2:30 and it's going to be hot. Thankfully it is only 5 minutes from the house. I'll have to grab all 5 kids a bit early as Nick has an orthodontist appt at 3 and all 3 of my boys have dentist appointments at 3:30. Hopefully I will have a relaxing or at least productive evening here in the AC.

Ditto!!

Thanks for the heads up on the powder. I'll call the pharmacy and see if they carry it.

Oh, I completely forgot about the Lotrimin. One of the little girls I used to watch had to use that and it worked like a charm!

I woke up at 5am & couldn't go back to sleep...:faint:

Daniel's baseball team won last nights game so they are on to the final round of playoffs. Although he did well, at one point he strike out & threw the bat in frustration. (he has a temper like his mother what can I say?:lmao: ) Thankfull the coach gave him a stern talking too which was good since he doesn't listen to me. He made some other good plays so the he was redeamed in the coaches eyes. It was 90 degrees in the shade while they were playing, I thought they would have cancelled the game but nooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Thursday they play the #1 team (which they have never beaten before) in the division for all the booty. Fingers crossed.

Have a Disney day!!!! (I say this to my kids everyday when they leave for school ;) )

Love your pictures!

Can't deal with bugs. I would come unglued if DS or Princess picked up a live bug. That big dead tree roach from a couple of months ago was more than enough. Hopefully Princess will develop a nice fear of bugs.

Hope you have a great day Deb!

Have fun, Deb!

Robyn - If the rash is yeast based from the antibiotics then the Lotrimin should clear it up. If it is just raw from acidic diapers then you can mix Desitin with Mylanta (the consistency of thin peanut butter) and coat her tushy with that. When Brother had that stomach virus his tushy was SO sore. That was the one where we had to take him off dairy for a month. It was awful, but that mixture helped heal the rash.

WooHoo!! Daniel!! WTG!!! and some:wizard: for the next game!!!

poor pumpkin, I hope she is feeling better fast...seems like an awful long time to be on medicine.

I'm not posting a link! You don't have time to read a 100+ page thread, because you're at WDW! :rotfl:

Thanks!! That's EXACTLY what I was going to post to Vicki...back to your vacation please.

Beth- When and where are you going to be in PA?

PA is just a drive-through for this trip. We'll be on the 90 around Erie to get between here and Dayton, OH which is our first stop.

Amy - your kidlet-cicada pictures are wonderful!!

::yes:: I agree!

Oh No, too much family time :confused3 I'm seeing that in our near future. :lmao:

I'm beginning to worry a little about that myself. All 5 of us trapped in a minivan and then a single hotel room for 15 days. :scared1: :rotfl: Your "togetherness" will be much longer than ours, but we may end up more tired and crankier.
