Congratulations to Daniel & his team & good luck in the play offs!

I woke up at 5am & couldn't go back to sleep...:faint:

Daniel's baseball team won last nights game so they are on to the final round of playoffs. Although he did well, at one point he strike out & threw the bat in frustration. (he has a temper like his mother what can I say?:lmao: ) Thankfull the coach gave him a stern talking too which was good since he doesn't listen to me. He made some other good plays so the he was redeamed in the coaches eyes. It was 90 degrees in the shade while they were playing, I thought they would have cancelled the game but nooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Thursday they play the #1 team (which they have never beaten before) in the division for all the booty. Fingers crossed.

Have a Disney day!!!! (I say this to my kids everyday when they leave for school ;) )

Poor Lucy  Hope she is feeling better soon!

I think we are headed back to the doctors today with Lucy. She is still tugging on her ears and having a hard time sleeping. She was up A LOT last night and kept crying out in her sleep the rest of the time. I don't think that her ear is cleared up and she has been on medicine since the Friday of Memorial day weekend.

I don't usually read trip reports (except DDA'ers of course:goodvibes ) but CampbellScott is in the middle of writing an amazing one that I know some of you have been reading along with also.

Anyway there is a thread that dis'ing her and now they are getting bold and actually posting not so nice stuff on her trip report....so if you have been reading along please show her the love tonight!! Thanks!!

Please post the link. I don't have time to search for it. People that are rude to others on here should be kicked off.

Well I checked my flights for Aug, tonight & our flights have been changed. They dropped the non-stop flights & now have us on flights with layovers in Atlanta. We are also arriving later & returning earlier, I am not real happy :worried:

So my small delima begins & tomorrow I will switch flights & will add a couple days onto our trip. I do not want to deal with layovers, especially beings the boys are with me.

Poor Chanon :rotfl:
Ugh! I'm sorry to hear that. I checked my flights again yesterday, and they haven't changed since the initial change in the beginning. I didn't have great flights anyway, since I'm flying out of our little, rinky dink airport. I'm changing planes TWICE on the way home.

Thanks!

But I know I could get even better ones-especially on safari with a few thousand dollars worth of camera equipment. For now I'd rather spend the money on Disney trips!

We really need a new matress. I think I would feel better if I slept better. I just don't know what to do. The matress I liked (same as the heavenly beds at the Swan) will not fit up our stairs in queen size (we already have a split box spring). I don't know if I should go with a smaller depth matress (not too easy to find these days). Or if we should go with 2 extra long twins to make a king bed. We would have to rearrange the furniture in our room to do that but it would fit. We went to a small matress store close to home but I want to go to a large furniture store about 45 minutes from here. Maybe we can do that now that soccer is over.

We need a new mattress, too. Ours is over 20 years old and not particularly comfortable any more. I don't think it was a great mattress at the time either, since we were both newly employed. I guess I've put the new mattress off at least one more year, though, with my trip to WDW.

Before I forget.....any spare pixie dust would be greatly appreciated....I think I have found the perfect job for me and I have just sent off my resume. It's for admin. asst. for MY pastors:cool1:

Good night DDA!! and hope the bed bugs do night bite!!!

Bernadette,
Great TR & love the pictures. I like the one of Woody bending down to hug her. Its nice when a tall character does that or sits on the floor so a little one can see their face. :thumbsup2

Oh & one question for ya...why did you wait to get to a bench to start eating your dole whip float? :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Bernadette, I also enjoyed the newest installment! I need to go look at the pictures again on the other computer, though. This monitor is going, and things are pretty dark, so I couldn't fully enjoy them. I couldn't wait to get a peek, though.

Matthew is prone to ear infections, and his doctor ended up having to switch him to a stronger (and more expensive) antibiotic which finally did the trick. Of course, the medicine caused some nasty diapers, but I was vigilant, and we avoided a diaper rash on top of everything else.

I hope Lucy feels better soon! :wizard:

I'm so confused! I got emails from Bernadette a while back...is this a link or more emails? :confused3

Beth- When and where are you going to be in PA?

I really need to get my butt to work, so I can leave early. I would rather climb back in bed.

Have a great day everyone.

Do you all know what cicadas are?

This is what one looks like:
IMG_0765.jpg

Here's a little background (with personal commentary in bold print):

Old red eyes are back. And singing - through July 4 - in a tree near you. (and on the sidewalk, and on the patio, and all over the community pool...)

Cicadas belonging to the family known to experts as Brood XIV emerged over the Memorial Day weekend to menace East Siders from New Richmond to Sharonville. (Guess who lives in Sharonville?!!)

"I spotted 175 per square yard on the lawn of Mariemont's administration building," said Gene Kritsky, cicada sage and College of Mount St. Joseph biology professor. "At this rate, expect between 2 and 3 billion of them in Southwestern Ohio." (Just so you know, these bugs not only crawl, but they fly!)

Those numbers are down from the last cicada invasion. In 2004, 5 to 7 billion members of Brood X swarmed mostly to the west of Interstate 71. (That was the year I had Alyssa and Jennifer got married!)

While the bugs might be fewer in number, they'll still be singing.

"Individual songs can be heard right now," Kritsky said. "They will start chorusing over the weekend and be at their peak by June 7. By July 4, they'll be gone." (Thank goodness!)

Until Independence Day, the cicadas will be singing their mating songs. At full blast. (Seriously, they are LOUD!)

"I once measured the sound of a cicada singing in a tree at 96 decibels," Kritsky said. "That's louder than the planes flying over my Delhi Township home."

Brood XIV is a bunch of latecomers. Initial computer models that Kritsky looked at predicted an emergence by May 13.

"But then, we had the two cool weeks in April," he said. "That slowed things down. Otherwise, owing to global warming, they would have emerged two weeks earlier than the historical average."

For cicadas to emerge from their 17-year subterranean slumber, the soil needs to reach 65 degrees.

As with every cicada emergence, the fundamental things about these insects apply: They do not carry disease. They do not sting or bite humans. They do not taste good. (Luckily, we have had no taste tests in the Hardman household!)

Congrats to Daniel! Good luck on Thursday!:wizard:

poor little thing... I hope the doctor gets to the bottom of her discomfort.

Thanks, I think it's her teeth that is causing it.

Robyn, I hope Lucy feels better soon. :wizard:

Thank you.

Ah! And therein lies the problem! WHY do people insist on lurking over there when they KNOW how vicious it gets? If strangers want to talk about me behind my back then more power to them. I have enough stuff to worry about without lurking on a board notorious for hateful posts. She should stay over here where people pretend to be nice. ;)

Becky, do you ever NOT run on fumes? I hope the little girl's party goes well. Happy Birthday to you! Go do something FUN to celebrate - you might need to block off some time on your calendar for that!

Yay for more time at WDW!! I am still messing with park days and ADRs. :rolleyes1

Come hang out with us and I will tell DH he has to share. Maybe you can help him figure out what to do with the dSLRs!
We bought a new mattress 4 years ago. It is really hard to tell in the store what a mattress will feel like when you get it home. It's better than our old one, but I don't love it.

Yep. Went through it yesterday but I didn't see anything that inspired me.
I am considering having DH wear a plaid button front shirt and DS and I will wear coordinating solid colors. Maybe.

That does sounds perfect for you!! I hope they call for an interview! :wizard:

Yay for Daniel & his team! :cool1:

Work was fine. I expected some attitude from Princess but she was quite good.
Poor Lucy! I hope the Dr. can figure something out! :wizard:

I like the plaid shirt/polo idea. That would look nice!

Glad yesterday went well. Me too. It's going to be a long week if she doesn't sleep better.

Poor Lucy  Hope she is feeling better soon!

Thanks. I hope you can get your flights figured out.

Thanks, Beth.

We've done Amoxicillin and are on Augmentin now. Is it Omnicef you're talking about it? Mo was on that when her ears wouldn't clear up. That didn't even touch Mo's though. We had to have a antibiotic shot which was horrific, the medicine needs to go in slowly so the needle is in their leg for about a minute (it seems like 1,000 though) and then we had to stay there for an hour to see if she had a reaction. She had them 4 or 5 times. I so want to avoid that at all costs. I would much rather them just put tubes in and be done.

The diaper rash is horrific. I am definitely not on top of that. Lucy didn't have any issues the first few days on Augmentin but then woke up with one one morning and I can't get rid of it. She is sick of yogurt and I keep putting the extra acidophilus in her bottles.

I'm not posting a link! You don't have time to read a 100+ page thread, because you're at WDW! :rotfl:

I didn't plan on reading the WHOLE thing. Just a page or two so that I could post support!!! Though, I need some "down time" away from all the family and the DDA is usually just the thing! :lmao: :rotfl:

No taste tests, but these insects provide free entertainment EVERY day. Our walks to the park and pool no longer take 10 minutes, because Alyssa and Matty stop to talk to almost every single cicada, dead or alive! :rotfl:

We have had a couple of photo sessions. In the beginning, Alyssa would rather look, not touch, but she has since changed her tune. I guess it's better than having children who are deathly afraid and screaming their heads off (we see a lot of those kids in the neighborhood), but I wish they didn't have to pick up so many of them!

Robyn,
:wizard: for Lucy!

Oh, that's near the City, so it's pretty far from us, though we are in NYS during those dates.

In July, if I'm not in NYS, I'll be in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, or Wisconsin depending upon the date.

Daniel congrats on the win, and good luck on your next game.
Thanks!!!

Amy - your kidlet-cicada pictures are wonderful!!
