DDA Chapter 7

Flying on Saturday isn't a big deal because the fees don't start for a couple of weeks. And I can do 3 days with a carry-on. Going forward those fees will get expensive, like when we go to WDW next summer.

So, I just looked at SW prices for our dates in August (just for fun). $435, and both flight land somewhere other than our destination first. No changing planes, though.

Airtran has direct flights in August for $263, which is better than what we paid for DH on American! You may check 1 bag free, and the second bag is $10 if you pay during online check-in. Good enough for me! BUT how stable is Airtran? They change their flight times A LOT, don't they? Do you guys think they may be in line for bankruptcy? Just thinking ahead since AA is going off the deep end. Obviously we are already ticketed for this trip, I was just looking to see what prices are.

I think Airtran is here to stay for a while. They are a low cost carrier that seems to be doing well. Kind of like a step up from SW and a step down from Jet Blue. But not as solid as either of them, I would say. However, I would book with them.

:wizard: for tomorrow. Enjoy your night out. You need it!

Thanks, it was wonderful.

Deb, yay for Colby! :yay:

Janet, I'm so glad your fraudulent issue was resolved quickly!

Marci and Robyn, I think you both could use a little pixie dust for all the sports stress! We just signed Alyssa up for instructional soccer (it starts up in August). I hope it's a pleasant experience for us all!

Glynis, is your morning sickness starting to subside as you head into your second trimester? Hopefully it will be completely gone for your trip to London! That's great that Alan gets paternity leave! I hope his injury heals quickly!

Jen, I didn't realize that your hospital didn't have a nursery! I can remember crying myself to sleep when the nurse (at Good Sam) insisted on taking Alyssa to the nursery for a formula supplement around 2 a.m. so I could rest. I was only in the hospital for 24 hours with Matty, and I was stuck with the roommate from Hades, so I kept Matthew around for companionship. Had I known that I wouldn't get a decent night's sleep for a year and a half, I would have sent him away for the night! :teeth:

Thanks for all the compliments on Kevin's little video. The clips were recorded on our digital camera, and he gave himself a lesson on piecing it together. He got ticked at me for saying, "That's it?!!" after watching it. He was in the basement for 2 hours, so I thought it would be a little more substantial. I blamed the hormones. :rotfl:

I hope everyone is having a good night! :wave2:

I hope Alyssa's soccer is drama free! :wizard:

I kept Emma with me the entire stay but I remember getting yelled at for allowing her to sleep 6 hours. I should have woken her up after 2 according to the nurse.

Molly stayed the entire time and she cried that entire night. I wanted to give her a pacifier and the nurse wouldn't allow it whatsoever as I was nursing. Eric would have gone out but it was torrential downpour.

I sent Lucy to the nursery and had no regrets. It was nice to get those few hours of uninterrupted sleep. I had some sleeping meds the night I was induced and it had the exact opposite effect on me and was wide awake and jittery. I slept maybe 10 minutes that night.

How nice! I don't know if DH would get paid leave. Doesn't matter - NO babies in my future! :rotfl2:

Great job, Colby! Glad things are off to a good start! :thumbsup2

Robyn, I hope the soccer drama can be resolved! :wizard:
So what does one buy at a quarter auction? :confused3

Me too.

I bought 3 paddles that were numbered and you use them to bid on items, from the home party vendors. Each item has a "Quarter value" 1-4 quarters each and you decide what items to bid on and place the correct amount of quarters in a bowl. Then it's like Bingo, they call out numbers and if your number is called you win the item. I hope that makes sense. I won about $150 in stuff and spent about $20. Not a bad night.

Jen- I love the hair!!

Deb- Congrats to Colby for such great progress.:yay:

I hope they don't go anywhere, that's who we are using to fly to Dallas!!

I think Airtran is here to stay for a while. They are a low cost carrier that seems to be doing well. Kind of like a step up from SW and a step down from Jet Blue. But not as solid as either of them, I would say. However, I would book with them.

Since I am all by my lonesome in the office today I am going to try and catch up on some of the things I know I have missed the last week:

Elin-I hope recitals are running smoothly:wizard:

Has anyone heard from Jo?? With the wildfires I wondered how she is doing.

So far, so good...

I was just thinking about Jo yesterday. I hope all is OK.

Idol was not the outcome we expected. I won't name names, but be asured that David won :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Colby was not happy with the outcome. I was also suprised by the comments and apology that Simon made before the winner was announced. Have I been cryptic enough

Yes, you have been cryptic enough. Here at our house we were pleased with the outcome! I haven't watched Idol in YEARS but Kristin persuaded me to watch the past few shows. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Robyn - I am glad you had a good evening.

11:00 must be my witching hour! Good night, friends!

Oh, I meant to tell you guys I was in the Disney Store today and they are NOT at 30% off. The liquidation company decided to keep them at 20%. Which is asinine, but they didn't ask me. :rolleyes1 Things are not progressing the way everyone thought they would with an additional markdown each week. There is talk of some stores being closed the first week of June, and merchandise being moved out to other liquidating stores. That makes me nervous, because they may not go much lower than 20% before they give up and close the store! :scared:

Our store is 20-40% off, but if you look around closely (not easy to do while tracking Matty :teeth: ) you can actually find several misc. discounts like a few of last years' beach towels for 65% off.

I was thrilled with the Idol outcome! Kevin's 3 votes made the difference. ;) :rotfl:

Cute haircut, Jen! I hope you have a great trip!

you were cryptic enough but I thought from your crypticness that the other won.

We love the outcome...but I haven't been watching as faithfully as in past seasons because no one grabbed us. I will say the winner grabbed me the last couple of weeks. We've watched more when it's "themes" we've wanted to watch...Dolly, Andrew Lloyd Weber.

Did you all see that resort airline check-in will now only accept ONE checked bag from each passenger? :headache: Guess that means we'll be checking in at the airport!

No way! This doesn't make me happy. I guess maybe I'll be talking Chuck into that Owners Locker sooner than I thought.

If it wasn't for this silly 1 piece of luggage per person, I would be able to decorate our room for Christmas :sad2:

I did read this on another thread & this was the link posted:

http://www.dot.gov/affairs/aviation080516/baggagefeenotice.htm

Some are saying that if you booked your flights before DOT posted this on May 13th, that you can still take 2 pieces of luggage. Not sure if this is true or not, but it would make me happy!

Here is the link to the thread as well:

I'm glad to see this. Now to find out about whether Resort Check-in will also honor this. They should. Luckily, we bought our tickets (including my mom & sisters) before the extra fee was announced.

I HATE AMERICAN AIRLINES.

That really didn't make me feel that much better.

We loved American Airlines. It is usually the cheapest fare for us and we have never had any issues. This, however, makes me sad.

I'm headed home! :yay: A few extra restrictions, but otherwise we'll just watch (even more) closely and wait.

Details on the site, I have to turn this computer off before it dies, and get it put away before my ride gets here so I can get some edible food! :goodvibes

:cool1: :dance3:

Chanon & Janet,

Did you buy your MVMCP tickets yet?
Nope not yet! Why did you change your mind?

Let me know how this works for you Vicki! I planned on two bags too, and would prefer to check in at the hotel but will attempt the airport if need be. I need to start a packing list for the honeymoon.

Morning DDA!
Today should be fun. Working at another office, then an evening meeting for a niche travel market tonight in Cleveland. Yesterday I bought new shoes for work and the wedding...still debating on the wedding shoes if they'd work or not.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

I have been looking for a book that I used to read to Dawn. Well someone on the CB linked this place in another thread http://forums.abebooks.com/n/mb/listsf.asp?webtag=abesleuthcom&gfc=1&sts=5/22/2008+6:52:25+AM

I posted info on what the book was about and the second person to respond, had the name of the book I wanted. They also sell copies of books and there are at least 20 people selling a copy of the book. Gonna get it for her, as she has been wanting it.

Dadboss used to work for American (Thank goodness he changed jobs, or he and I might BOTH be facing unemployment! :scared: ) and I asked him about Airtran. He said before now he would have had no qualms about booking with them, but now he might be a little nervous.
I told DH we need to make some changes to the way we travel. We typically fly out on a day that he works, which severely limits our flight choices. If we wait and fly out on his first day off we can choose the cheapest flight. Coming home we will book the cheapest flight, even if it means leaving at Dark o'clock. That's all good unless the airline goes belly up. DH wants to know if you fly into MCO on Airtran if ME will bring your bags to the hotel?

Our store is 20-40%, but the pins are only 20%.
I am pleased with the Idol outcome, even though we never vote.

Neat! I used to have a book called "What Happened to George" about a pig. It was on Evil Bay for $90! :scared1:

Princess has gymnastics today, then we need to get her things ready for her trip. Starting tomorrow I am off until June 9! I suppose I should pack for our weekend while I am home tomorrow. I keep forgetting we are leaving Saturday morning!
