YAY! How exciting!
Are you sure you want my help? You'll need a second mortgage on your house to pay for the excess baggage if I help! :rotfl2:
This just made my day! :rotfl:

I am so glad we are driving in August!

What about December? You only brought one bag in October right?
ETA: Estimated SW release date of Jun 27th for flights through January!

Flying on Saturday isn't a big deal because the fees don't start for a couple of weeks. And I can do 3 days with a carry-on. Going forward those fees will get expensive, like when we go to WDW next summer.

So, I just looked at SW prices for our dates in August (just for fun). $435, and both flight land somewhere other than our destination first. No changing planes, though.

Airtran has direct flights in August for $263, which is better than what we paid for DH on American! You may check 1 bag free, and the second bag is $10 if you pay during online check-in. Good enough for me! BUT how stable is Airtran? They change their flight times A LOT, don't they? Do you guys think they may be in line for bankruptcy? Just thinking ahead since AA is going off the deep end. Obviously we are already ticketed for this trip, I was just looking to see what prices are.

I fly Airtran 90% of the time if going to FL. Never had any problem with the flights. Connecting or nonstop. (Unless it's weather related...that's a different story and happens with ANY airline!)
From CAK, our nonstop flights have a tendency to "flip flop" times depending on the season...in the summer it's an AM flight to MCO, PM flight back; then in the winter it's reversed...given we only have one nonstop a day, that's fine with me...I never do much on arrival or departure days anyway. On their connecting - I don't see them changing times a lot...at least from CAK...

I'll be watching out for SW for my flight in December. Keep me posted if you see anything.

Yes, I had one checked bag & one carryon for October.

Since I am all by my lonesome in the office today I am going to try and catch up on some of the things I know I have missed the last week:

Vicki-you go girl in your running!!:cool1: (picture him running faster:goodvibes )

Deb-your boys are really turning into fine young men:goodvibes I am so glad Colby had such a great first speech session.

Debbie-get packing lady!!

Elin-I hope recitals are running smoothly:wizard:

Elizabeth-your mom (and you) continue to be in my prayers

Jen-have you heard anymore from your interviews???I know the perfect job is out there for you.

Kristine-your trip sounds fabulous...hopefully it will be relaxing for you.

Tammi-I hope you are able to buy out your weasel (I mean ex:upsidedow )and stay in your house.

Has anyone heard from Jo?? With the wildfires I wondered how she is doing.

Well, the ankle is swollen and pretty black. He did take some pain meds when he got home last night and fell asleep on the couch. He was going to take the day off today, but we got hit with a heavy rainstorm, which has caused most of the streams and rivers here to flood. They were already at maximum capacity due to the spring runoff, and this sent them over the banks. Alan was sent up in the helicopter where he could sit and man the camera instead of having to walk around carrying it. Thank heaven for small favors.

That worked out nicely, at least! I hope the pain at least begins to subside sometime soon.

That's right! It's tough enough taking care of one new baby. 2, who are preemies, and you really need your sleep!!! I was so grateful to have had a c-section which meant 5 days of recovery in the hospital. They asked if I wanted to have the babies room with me once they were out of NICU, and I said, "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" I needed that time to sleep. They were brought to me when they were hungry, and when I called for them, and that was enough for me. As it was, I was still exhausted when we brought them home, but it was manageable!

Well that's nice! I am told that you don't have much of an option, unless they are in the NICU. If they are stable, they are with you, other than a little time here and there if you are alone and need to shower, etc. They just don't staff a regular nursery, so there's nowhere for them to go.

As far as the airline charging for one bag... That is absurd. Everyone needs a bag, what is the point of traveling. They won't let us fly nude (a lady got kicked off for way more clothes than nude) :confused3 Our country is in a fine state. With gas and oil prices as well as the cost of food and now the airlines are charging gas surcharges and for all bags :confused3 Apparently we all need to be hermits and stay home all the time, living off our own land like our ancestors did :confused3

Don't even suggest such a thing to Alan! He hates traveling so much he would think staying home and living off the land to be the best plan ever!

Today has gone well. Colby made huge strides as his very first speech session. He learned to make the K sound and can now clearly say his name. His therapist was so surprised by his progress and I was so happy I may have shed a couple of tears.

The rain held off for the field trip. I wasn't prepared to hike through the woods to get to the brook. I thought we would walk the road. The croc sandals I wore were not the best choice for the woods. Non the less the kids behaved well and got all the data that they needed.

Dinner is in the oven so we're making progress and may even get to the concert on time :cool1:

Hooray for Colby!!!! I worked as a Speech therapist for a school system for a year, and it was wonderful to see the little ones faces as they finally "got" it! Tell him I'm so proud of him!!!

Have fun at the concert!

Wow!!! That's just ridiculous! I don't know if I would have made it if I had to have them room in with me. I really wouldn't wish your girls to be in the NICU, but if it would give you a little sleep.......

Kyle is going to be there with you, right? Do father's get the option of staying? Alan had the option, but chose to go home to be with the other kids at night, and then was with me during the day.

We just found out that Alan's work will let him have 3 weeks paid "paternity" leave when the baby is born! They've never offered that before. You can bet we're going to take advantage of that! Alan's plan is that the baby will be born sometime in the second week of December, and then he can take the rest of the month off, which means he wouldn't have to work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. Like I said, that's Alan's plan. I'm sure that peanut may have plans of his/her own.

Yes, he'll be there while we're in the hospital. We also have family nearby, and no other kids at home. I should have lots of help! :goodvibes

Wow, that's phenomenal!! That's not much less than my company offers for maternity leave, and at a very partial pay. Kyle's offers nothing.... what a blessing! Hopefully it will work out to at least get Christmas off, even if not New Years! :wizard:

USE THEM!!! Use them a lot! Seriously, it's a lot harder those first few weeks than you will realize. I had a niece that would come to my house after school every day for the first 3 months. She would come in, send me to bed, and then she'd take care of the kids (all 4 of them), do laundry, dishes, whatever she saw needed to be done. It was a lifesaver for me!

Apparently, though, she never told her mom what she was doing. It wasn't until the twins were about 6 months old, that Carrie and I were talking and I thanked her for letting Ange come over and help out. She got this puzzled look on her face. I explained what she did for me, and she just started to cry. I guess she had been pretty hard on Ange for not coming right home after school. I have no idea why Ange never said anything, but I was grateful for the help.

Anyway, that was quite the side note. What I'm trying to say, is don't be afraid of letting people help you out. You're going to need it as your body heals, and as you get used to dealing with the girls. For the first little while my back hurt more after the babies were born than it did when I was pregnant. I wasn't prepared for that. It was nice to have someone there to hand me the babies so I didn't have to bend over, etc.

I'm sure you've heard all this before and so I'll say no more! I'm just so happy that you've done so well with this pregnancy.

I know! I will definitely be in heaven if he can get Christmas off! He's had to work both Christmas Eve and Day for the last 4 years. It would be nice to have him home with the family!

My nephew was born 4 1/2 months before Colby. SIL took 6 weeks maturnity leave then. I started taking care of Logan at that point. When Colby was born my brother was able to take 6 weeks paturnity leave at that time. He stayed home and took care of Logan for six weeks while I was home with Colby. It worked out wonderfully for them and for me. Chris was home for a week with each birth, but that was vacation time.

Even with the 4:30 a.m. time, I wouldn't be able to do it, as I have to be in Austin for a family friend's wedding that weekend (have to be down there the day prior). So sorry! Definitely let me know if I can help you guys out another time, though.

your going to be in Austin! For how long?

I'm headed home! :yay: A few extra restrictions, but otherwise we'll just watch (even more) closely and wait.

Details on the site, I have to turn this computer off before it dies, and get it put away before my ride gets here so I can get some edible food! :goodvibes
yah glad to hear your home
