DDA Chapter 7

Good morning DDA. Well, my day yesterday turned into leaving home at 9:40am, returning once only briefly until 8:40pm. So much for all of that computer work I was going to do. We did go have lunch with Phil, played at the playarea and got some errands run. Then we met Wendy, Michael and Danae at the Scholastic books warehouse sales for educators. We ended up with some really good deals though it was massive and busy so we were there for 2 1/2 hours. Since Cracker Barrel was right across the street, Terra and I stopped for an early birthday dinner. By the time we got home, I was beat. So now today I've got my work cut out for me. Guess that means I had better get busy! :rotfl:

Sounded like a busy but fun filled day.

Thanks! They will have to schedule some sort of surgery so they can determine if her lymph nodes are positive or negative. That determines the course of treatment from here on out. Hopefully they can schedule that in a timely fashion instead of standing around like they have never done this before! :headache:

More :wizard: headed your way and for your Mom.

And I think that name Mary must really mean stubborn instead of bitter like they say. Both of my grandmom's are/were Mary's and that is how Molly got her name. Do you think it's too late to change her name? ;)

So now we wait some more. We wait for the oncologist to figure out what needs to be done after he consults with the surgeon, then we wait for the OB/GYN to do more tests on 5/22 and either share those results with the oncologist or not. :headache: Insanity.
:grouphug:

Hello everyone! I made it home this afternoon. Had a wonderful time, weather was perfect, parks were not to crowded(till Thursday night anyway), & I enjoyed meeting & spending time with Bernadette & Emma. I must say Emma is such a sweetie, I will miss her little laugh :goodvibes Bernadette is just as sweet & she even made me a journal to write in!

Had a great location just as requested, 60's lakeside, 1st floor, & I had a corner room. Bernadette & I were right next to each other. The area was very quiet, close to the foodcourt & bus stop.

A solo trip is something I will do again :thumbsup2 I did over do it my 1st full day, but what is new :rotfl: The top of my head is burnt(did not use sunscreen there)& I have a nice blister on the bottom of my foot(my fault for wearing my flips instead of crocs, lesson learned).

I need to go back & see what I have missed, chat with you all soon!
Welcome home, Janet. I'm so glad you had a good time. I can't wait to hear about it and see some pictures.

Good Morning. We are up and running. Breakfast is made although not much was eaten. It seems the boys aren't too hungry that early in the morning. We are leaving in a few minutes for the game. Hopefully they will do better today.
Good luck! :wizard:

Well, I have inched my way to another weight loss goal. This goal had a story behind it. Years ago when I had my driver's license renewed I "fudged" a bit with the weight, and as the years and renewals went by they never asked and I didn't tell so the weight on my license has been inaacurate for a long time, well as of this morning I now weigh one pound less than it states on my license. :rotfl:

DD moved back home this week, she'll be here until she gets on her feet with finances and employment. I made dinner last night and she looked at it and said, "that's it?" Yes we've made quite a few changes around here, :rotfl:

I Wish All the Mom's a Happy Mother's Day!
First, don't all women fugde their weight on their driver's license???

Congrats Debbie! That is truly wonderful. I know you have worked hard so you have a right to be proud of yourself. Happy MOther's Day to you too!

It's been a crazy couple days here. It's been rainy and miserable and that has made me feel just out of sorts.

Molly has been trying our patience the last few days and on top of that she is miserable with allergies so the whining has been non stop and she is attached to my hip when she's not driving me crazy. I am hoping that when we see her ENT at the end of the month he recommends allergy testing. I think that she needs a medicine change.

Emma is still having issues with school- she did speak to the counselor although I am not sure that it has or will make much difference. She got her interim yesterday and for the first time she is not making satisfactory progress. :headache: It seems that the sub is not demonstrating the math concepts well or at all. A couple of the moms I spoke with have said that their kids are trying to do the homework and it hasn't been gone over in class. Emma has complained of the same things as well. And the one little boy that Emma helps out is really having a hard time. He apparently had his Autism diagnosis reversed in the last few months, which is phenomenal. But he is reverting back to his old ways. His mom is beside herself in trying to deal with all of this. I know that Emma will make it through this but it is so very frustrating. I've emailed the principal and will be calling her on Monday to speak with her. I want to call my best friend, she works at the school part time as a resource teacher, and she what advice she can give me.

Doesn't life sound fun?!?

On the upside, Eric and I managed to spend an evening out without the girls. His parents took Emma and Molly for an overnight and my mom kept Lucy for a few hours. She would have kept her overnight but has a wedding today. Lucy had a rough time- apparently she cried the entire time at my parents. She really never has been left without Eric or I for any period of time so I think that threw her off.

But it was so wonderful to eat dinner without having to worry about anything but us. No hands and faces to wipe, no keeping on them for their manners, no tantrums to avoid- you get the picture. Then we went and saw Iron Man. I really enjoyed it and I think that Robert Downey Jr. was phenomenal in it.

Today while the girls are gone Eric and I need to clean and sort through the playroom- it's taken on a life of it's own.:scared1: :scared1: Mo's soccer has been canceled so that helps. I also need to make it to the store to get the rest of the stuff for dinner tomorrow. My parents, sister, niece and in-laws are coming over for a Mother's Day dinner after Emma's soccer game.

I need to get off and feed Lucy so she can go down for her nap. Have a great day!!!'s and :wizard:
 Poor Emma and Mo. Is it 3rd grade that Em is in? Does she have SOLs this year?

At least you and Eric got to enjoy some alone time. :thumbsup2 Nicholas' wants to see Iron Man, so what's your opinion on that? He's seen the Spiderman and PotC movies, so I'm not worried about the violence. He can deal with that. It's the cursing and such that I'm concerned about.

Good morning. :)

Like Robyn said, it's rainy and miserable here, and only in the 50s. Brrrrr. I need to go do some running around today, but I'm not so sure I'm going to get motivated. Have a great day!

And I think that name Mary must really mean stubborn instead of bitter like they say. Both of my grandmom's are/were Mary's and that is how Molly got her name. Do you think it's too late to change her name? ;)

I think once you have named them it sticks, like it or not! :rotfl2:
I'm sorry Emma is srill having such a rough time! Math is one of those things that if the teacher's style deosn't click with the way the child learns then you are pretty much toast. DS had a math teacher like that, and he had her for TWO years! :headache: Of course if the sub isn't explaining the concepts at all that's a whole other problem!
I hope the ENT can get Molly sorted out. I can't deal with whining. :scared:
Glad you and Eric were able to get out for an evening! :)

Did Anne Marie move to Pennsylvania? :confused3 :rotfl:

Did Anne Marie have a sex change? :scared1: :confused3 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Good one Tammi

 Poor Emma and Mo. Is it 3rd grade that Em is in? Does she have SOLs this year?

Em's in 2nd grade. She had Stanford testing back in October and fared quite highly in both reading and math. So I know it's the substitute.

I honestly can't remember a lot of cursing, neither did Eric, but I am sure there is some. I think I am oblivious to that type of language after hanging out with sailors for 3 years.

We decided that Emma couldn't see it only because it has a lot to do with the war in Afghanistan and she is pretty sensitive about that. I think if it was just a general violence type thing than it wouldn't be a big deal but since the war is still current she would be worried all the time. Does that sound stupid? There were quite a few younger kids there about their age so I think he'd be fine.

I think once you have named them it sticks, like it or not! :rotfl2:

Drats! :rotfl:

At first Emma would be doing her homework and get stuck and then tell us "but we didn't go over that in class." She's always given us a battle with homework so we just chalked it up to her being her usual self. But at least 3 or 4 moms have said the same thing so I know she isn't lying.

Only a few more weeks but it seems like it won't ever end.

Kristin is moved back into the house for the short term. It will be very nice to have her here for a little while. Again the weather up here was cold and rainy and in Richmond it was sunny and about 10 degrees warmer. :confused3

At least the sun is out now. But still only 65.

:headache: FOUR hours after her appointment and NO WORD from my mother. Her cell phone is off, nobody answers at her house, and Diva Girl's phone goes to voice mail after 4 rings but it's the generic voice mail so I don't know for sure that I have the right number.

WHY does every step of this have to be so impossibly difficult?

Wow, another very busy weekend for your family. I hope you find time to relax one of these days.

The boys lost their game. It was their first game and the opposing team had already had 5 games. I have no idea what the final score was, and it is probably better that way. The next game is at 9 AM tomorrow and it is a road trip for us. Oh, Hunter got his first penalty too  It was for triping. He says it was an accident. Like any good Mom I took video and snap shots of him in the penalty box

I'm sorry that the game didn't go so well.

Bernadette must be having fun with her new cell phone. She send me 5 more pictures :goodvibes

Emma's candy from the Candy Lady
EmmascandyinJapan.jpg

Those are great! I can't wait to go back! Can someone help me to see what Emma's candy animal is?

brain sharing!!

I hope it's working better for you than it is for me. :rotfl:

Well, I am so bummed. I really didn't understand the closing schedule, so I was not sure about our two stores. Well after a really enjoyable evening, eating at TG Fridays, Stephanie and I walked to our Disney Store and inside, there were the most god awful signs announcing our store is closing. :sad1:

The one at the outlets will be open, but we wonder how long?

We did meet the nicest CM.

He really was just the nicest CM!!:goodvibes

My DGS is running around with his Disney Store ears on.::MickeyMo

I'm so sad. :sad1:
:grouphug: It sounds like a nice night except for the Disney Store discovery.

PONK! PONK! PONK! That's my head. Hitting the wall. :headache:

 I am so sorry that you are going through this!

Welcome back!!! Tell me all about Pop Century!

Good Morning. We are up and running. Breakfast is made although not much was eaten. It seems the boys aren't too hungry that early in the morning. We are leaving in a few minutes for the game. Hopefully they will do better today.

I hope they had a good game.

Good Morning,

Welcome Home Janet, we'll be waiting patiently for your trip report.

Amy - Glad to hear all is well.

Elizabeth - Sorry you're not getting any answers with Mom.

Tammi and Elin - Glad you both are ok after the bad weather

Becky - Hope you get your cruise delimma worked out, I think I would go ahead and book as long as I could get a refund if I had to cancel.

Well, I have inched my way to another weight loss goal. This goal had a story behind it. I Wish All the Mom's a Happy Mother's Day!

Great job, Debbie! I am so glad that NYS doesn't put weights on their licenses! Can you share some of that motivation with me? I think if I could just get a good start, I could keep going.

I have to work this weekend, so I will post some pictures as soon as I can. I think I look horrible, so I probably won't post to many of myself :rotfl:

We want to see all of them! You definitely don't look horrible.

If you'll look at my cruise ticker you'll see that I had better get my behind in gear. Not only have I not started packing, I don't have the things I need to pack. My wardrobe is extremely small right now, I've bought some things but I don't want to buy much because I'm hoping that what fits now won't fit in the future. I have two pairs of shorts that I can "make do" with, one pair of jeans that fit. So I guess it's a shopping trip for me.

It's off to the grocery store right now,

That cruise is coming up fast! I hope you have a great time.

It's been a crazy couple days here. It's been rainy and miserable and that has made me feel just out of sorts.

Poor Emma and Mo. Is it 3rd grade that Em is in? Does she have SOLs this year?

What's an SOL? I'm assuming it is some sort of test...Standards Of Learning? When I hear SOL, I think of something else entirely. :rotfl: Our kids have NYS testing at certain grade levels. Actually, most grade levels now. It used to be 4th and 8th grade testing, but now they have ELA and math every year 3-8 (and Regents exams after that). There is more testing in other years--science, social studies, tech, etc.

Well, there is good news and bad news on the decoupage projects. Most of the bubbles seem to have disappeared, and overall they don't look too bad. One of them, though, has a flap that folds over and closes. Apparently, the Modge Podge hadn't completely dried, and that flap stuck and pulled apart when I opened it up. I have done repairs, though you can still tell somewhat. I have decided that they will go in the mail on Monday, because I think they aren't as bad as I thought they were.

Elin, I was looking at that tea again. I think I really am going to order some. I think I'll get a couple of the samples first. Then I'll have the coupons to use for the other things if I really like it. I also may get the travel mug and some teas for my co-teacher for the end of the year. I'll have it sent to her house after we are all done, because we don't usually exchange gifts, and I don't want her to feel awkward about it. It has been quite a year, though, so I want to do a little something to let her know how much I appreciate working with her.

Beth - If somebody explains the candy animal to you, will you explain it to me? It looks like some sort of blue afghan hound. :confused3

You should order the teas for yourself and your co-teacher! :thumbsup2

I have lost track of the years that DS has testing. I think from 3rd grade on up they have some form of testing, but only some years and some sections REALLY matter. They said on the news last night that 75% of DISD grads who enroll in community college need remedial classes, so maybe those tests aren't all that useful! I'm not sure that figure really indicates anything, though. :confused3

I need 5 classes for my degree - 2 Gov, 2 science, 1 math. I have a 4.0 GPA. I could knock out the Gov & science credits quite easily, I just never got around to them. But I can't test high enough to enroll in college level math and the highest remedial level blew me away - I had to drop it. Does that mean I am uneducated and that my high school teachers didn't do their job? No, it means I suck at math! :rotfl2: Standardized testing isn't all that telling, I don't think.

Those are great! I can't wait to go back! Can someone help me to see what Emma's candy animal is?

I couldn't figure it out either, but looking now I think that it is a howling something...dog, wolf or coyote? :confused3 The part on the left pointing up is the head and the part on the right is the tail. The little red lines are the ears and the black the eyes in my thinking.

We picked our food! (never thought I'd use that smilie!)
Appitizers are Potato Pancakes, Spring Rolls, Mushroom Purses and Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts. (She made us stay away from the rubens - too messy, and the sausage stuffed mushrooms - not made from scratch.)
Dinner choice will be either Prime Rib OR Tuscan Stuffed Chicken served with buttermilk whipped mashed potatoes and julienned red peppers, yellow squash and green zucchini.

We also tried the striploin - but didn't like the "horseradish a jus" - which was more like a brown gravy with horseradish mixed in; and the Chicken Aurora - which neither of us liked the caper flavor. Starches that we tried were the buttermilk potatoes :lovestruc , roasted redskins - too salty, and diced roasted sweet potatoes but those wouldn't have gone well with the beef or chicken we chose. The other vegetable was green beans with almonds. Blah. And the one I was really looking forward to - the pork! - it wasn't sent in the last food order to the hotel. :headache: Oh well! Beef and chicken it is!

That's as close as I got, too, so maybe that is right. I like Elizabeth's blue afghan hound, too, though. :rotfl:

Emma's candy creation is a Wolf :rotfl: She requested a coyote but the candy lady did not know what that was, so someone suggested a wolf instead :thumbsup2

Heidi I thought about buying the spray for my head, but as you read I opted not to get it :rolleyes1

Robyn glad you & Eric were able to get some alone time!

Elin happy to hear your daughter is home for a while :goodvibes

Debbie I didn't realize your cruise was coming up so soon, how exciting :cool1:

Deb sorry to hear the boys lost their 1st game

Tia sounds like you had a very busy day!

Beth I think you will enjoy Pop, I will try to answer any questions you might have!

Chanon your food choices sound very good!

I have all my pictures uploaded to photobucket, I realized I did not take very many & I have none with Bernadette & myself. I did get a few of Emma though! Bernadette will have some with photopass :thumbsup2

Riley has a ball game so I need to get going, chat with you all later!
