DDA Chapter 7

I think it's probably about time to 'fess up to what has been going on in my house the last few months.

Through some financial mistakes and the downward spiral of the economy...we are in danger of losing our home. We also have been struggling in our physical and mental well being. Factor in job stress (finding a second one for at least one of us, Jim finally did in early April, being unhappy), regular old teenage issues.

We told the girls last week and they took it amazingly well....I keep reminding them (and myself) that although we love our house...it isn't a family member and we will survive this whichever way it goes.

You all have been my shelter in the storm and I love, love all of you for it.

:grouphug:  I was afraid it might be something like that. Let us know if there is anything we can do.

 You and your family will be in my prayers. I'm so sorry you have all of these stressors to deal with at once!

Theresa- Elin said it so wonderfully that I will ditto her. 's

Glynis- I am so sorry to hear of Leslie's foot. :wizard: that it heals quickly.

Vicki- :wizard: for your niece, how wonderful of you and Chuck to be there for them.

Thank you.

I just received an email from the Coral Reef. It seems that our ADR time is too late for a diver. They will customize our menu though :thumbsup2 I just sent them a couple of pictures. Hopefully Chris won't lurk here tonight as I haven't mentioned it.

Our kitty isn't feeling well. I'm not sure if he is stressed from the rennovations, the fact that I've had to move his litter box several times over the last month or if he is mad about something. I caught him pooping in our basket of mismatched socks at midnight last night. Then he proceeded to howl for several hours. He seems to be eating and using his box and he has seemed ok up until this point. :confused3

:woohoo: for the menu!

One of my kitties (I couldn't determine the culprit) pooped on the bathroom rug last week and then peed on it the following day. I don't know what was up with that, and fortunately there hasn't been a repeat.

Does anyone remember making May Day baskets and leaving them on people's doorknobs? My mom used to do that with us when we were little. She'd make little "baskets" out of paper cups and ribbons, we'd get up really early on May 1, pick a bunch of flowers to fill the baskets. Then we'd hang them on our neighbor's doors, ring the doorbell and run! It was always so fun!

Later in the day, my father's students from the theater department would set up a maypole on the campus quad, there would be dancing, a picnic, and just a bunch of fun! What memories!

We did that!

Yesterday was quite a day! I'm just glad it's over, and I don't have to do anything today!!!

Leslie came home from school just crying. Apparently, she jumped off the top of a slide on the playground and landed wrong on her foot. She was in a lot of pain, but I never got a call from her teacher or the school. They just propped her foot up and put ice on it. She had to hop all the way from the bus stop to our house. If I'd known, I'd have gone with the wagon to pick her up! Anyway, her foot was black, and bruised and a bit swollen. I gave her aspirin, iced her foot and propped it up. 2 hours later, she was still screaming and couldn't put any weight on it at all. So, I took her to the instacare clinic where they x-rayed her foot. They found "an anomaly", so x-rayed her other foot to compare. They think it might be fractured, but can't really read the x-rays, so have sent them off to the hospital to be read (I should hear from them this morning). In the meantime, they've splinted her foot, and she has to stay off it. Poor little thing.

I just hate to see one of my babies in pain! I'm hoping that the call will come that it's not broken, but sprained really badly. I'd hate for her to start the summer off with a cast! Oh well, at least she gets to act the princess of the palace around the other kids. They are all feeling so sorry for her that she doesn't have to lift a finger for herself. Katie is carrying her all over the place, and Mary just sits by her, patting her hand, and rubbing her head. She keeps saying, "my poor twinnie, my poor twinnie", and Jacob gets her snacks and drinks. I don't think she'll ever want to be "normal" again.

Katie gets to go the Utah Symphony today! I'm so excited for her! She started playing the violin 2 years ago, and this is the first professional concert she has attended! I can't wait to hear how she liked it!

Well, that's what's going on here, lately. I'm going to go shower quickly, and then relax for a while. Got to finish reading "The Tenderness of Wolves" for book club tomorrow. Wish me luck!

pixiedust: for poor Leslie! Yay for Katie!

ARRRGH!! With all the stuff going on around my house...I completely lost track of time and my family will be here next Thursday to celebrate the girl's birthdays!!:scared1:

I have nothing planned...zip zilch nada....did I mention nothing??:rolleyes1

 I don't have family coming in, but Miles' birthday is the 16th, and I have absolutely nothing planned or done for that. Also, I'm leaving to go out of town the following morning at 4:00am. (I should leave on his birthday, but that sent him into near hysterics, so...) I don't know where time has gone! I don't know when I'll have time to throw any sort of "kid" party together for him. I think I'm losing "Mom of the Year" this year. :sad2: :guilty:

Gary's dentures look wonderful, my baby has his smile back  He is talking a little funny, but in time he will get use to them. I am so happy for him!
:teeth:

DS gets his braces off Thursday. Since he will go back into a retainer I bet he will talk funny for awhile, too. ;)
He must be happy about that!

Well i think im headed to bed.
I spent some time tonight researching memory cards and i finally bought! I got Two 2GB for 35.00
I also went through some clothes for alaska--so im done for the night!

have a great night
:woohoo:

Prayers needed. I can't give details but it is not life & death. My niece has to testify in a trial. Please pray for a speedy trial and a good outcome. The trial starts next Thursday. Chuck & I will be going down there to be with my sister, niece & nephew while it lasts. Both of us are able to work from anywhere as long as we have internet access. I've already cleared it with my boss.
:wizard: Hope things go well.

I'm home. I had a long talk with my boss and gave him all of my concerns and listened to his rationalization. I totally understand his perspective and I think that he now understands mine. He does not want to lose me so he is willing to work with me for additional shifts. He will try to give me more waitress shifts and will also fit in bus shifts or hostess to make up more time. The owner's all believe that we will get busier, but I have my doubts. They have bulked up staff for summer, but the crowds may not come. We get very few locals these days as people simply can't afford to eat out. We used to serve over 100 people on slow nights, last night we served 38 and I bet we did around 55 tonight. It is such a bad economy. He is supposed to hold off on hiring anyone else until things greatly improve. Hopefully people will start taking vacations thus freeing up more shifts. Bottom line is we'll see how it pans out over the next couple of weeks. Next week won't be a good indicator as we are open all day on Mother's Day instead of just the evening and I will most likely get a double that day which is highly unusual. Thanks for the pixie dust and prayers, I hope the results continue :thumbsup2
:wizard: Hope things work out well for you!

Bring on the tissues. This kid is amazing, but needs to become more confident in himself. From Britain's Got Talent, check out the video here.

Hope you are all doing well! I am off to bed. Tomorrow is another long day.:hippie:
WOW! Thanks for posting.

Good morning.

I am off to work today. I was hoping to get all this laundry done today but it will have to wait til tonight. Katie has a fundraiser at school tonight so we are definately back to "norma" around here. Oh yea & it's 44 degrees here which is quite a change from the 80's we had just yesterday!

Have a great day!
Laundry can wait-doesn't sound like you need your shorts at home! LOVE your new signature photo!

I'm so sorry. and :wizard: for you & your family.

Emma had just one spot that wasn't dry this morning.:thumbsup2

I called the pediatrician's office but they didn't have the tick test back yet. They said to call at 10am tomorrow and they would call the lab if they didn't have it by then.

DH called to tell me that the consignment shop called and asked him to tell me to get the "THING" out of there.:headache: Don't know if I should try a different consignment shop or if I should just find someone to give it to. It is a really nice stroller and in such great condition.

Sounds like Emma is healing pretty well! Hopefully they will have the test results for you soon!
That consignment place is RUDE!
DH wants to sell some stuff on Craig's List, but I just don't know. I don't want strangers coming to our house. :scared: He has this big, obnoxious clock with some beer logo on it. There are some on eBay for $200 but I don't want to get into selling on eBay, even for $200.

 I hope that with DH's second job and the financial stimulus check that you should get soon that you will be able to squeek by. The economy has thrown most people for a loop and you are by no means alone. :wizard:  That you can find a second job or at least a first job that you don't hate.

I think we all have to reassess the financial situation daily and make changes to compensate. I know my conversation last night was one of those, but what we have to to survive. Thankfully Chris will work some extra Saturdays to make up any money that I won't make. We will be vacationing on the extra money that the government was nice enough to send since we have not been able to put away extra like we were last year.  To everyone in hopes that we can all survive this recession with as little discomfort as possible.

I've heard that sometimes it is better to be broken because once it heals, it's healed. It took many, many years for my sprained ankle to be strong enough. One little twist the wrong way and it was sprained again. I probably spent 2 out of my 4 years of high school with a bandage on my ankle.

I've heard the same thing. Kids breaks heal very quickly too.

 I don't have family coming in, but Miles' birthday is the 16th, and I have absolutely nothing planned or done for that. Also, I'm leaving to go out of town the following morning at 4:00am. Don't throw out your mother of the year award yet. Perhaps Miles would enjoy seeing a movie with some friends. Couldn't your oldest supervise such an outing. No mess no fuss. Our bowling alley does great parties that we don't have to lift a finger for. Think outside the box and if you can't then maybe throw him an unbirthday party when you have time :thumbsup2

Glynis, with that kind of closeness so young, I believe they will be the best of friends growing up. :)

I have deformed (that's what I say anyway) ankles because of spraining them so much. Of course it didn't help that when I was a baby my mom could turn my feet completely around, but the doctor said that it would correct itself. :confused3
I swear I have the weakest ankles and can still turn them pretty far. :sad2:

I probably spent 2 out of my 4 years of high school with a bandage on my ankle.

Stephanie just left the office to drive down to her son's place. Her daughter-in-law's water just broke and she is on her way to the hospital for her c-section. I will try to keep in touch with her to find out how everything goes.

Anne Marie - You can't go to work, do laundry, or participate in a fundraiser! We are waiting for a TR, or at the very least, a link to some pictures!!! But thanks for teasing us with the new one in your sig. The kids look adorable.
:lmao:
Thanks Tammi! I am running to take Katie to her friends house first, then go get my car (the breaks stopped working this morning) & then to the fundraiser & back home. I will work on that TR asap. :)

Poor Leslie, hope its not broken. Horray for Katie!
Also seems like I missed the big news while I was away. Congratulations!

Ok I'll check back later!
Thanks for all the comments on the siggie picture.
