Tia that is an adorable dress :thumbsup2

AnnMarie and Glynis I bet that you MIL's speak highly of your dh's when talking to their other children. It is just a way to manipulate them all. She wants more attention from each of them and uses the others to get their way. It is good that you can let it slide. I've done that for years with my MIL. The funny thing is that Chris has caught on to his mother's manipulations and he takes no crap from her these days. Sometimes I am embarassed by the replies that he gives her (although they are well deserved ;) )

Yup. You are right. She praises Alan to his siblings, but not to his face. At least they all see through her!

Anne Marie - I'm so sorry your MIL is treating Dana this way! We go through the same thing with Alan's mother. She is the queen of guilt, and is always telling Alan how great Scott is with her, or Carrie, or Jami or any of the other children. She tells Alan that he needs to step up his involvement with her or she won't be leaving him anything in her will. Geez, lady, do you really think we want all your thrift store garbage????? Anyway, it makes me so angry! Alan is the one who deals with her finances, fixes her computer, deals with her landlord when she is in lease violation, but "he does nothing for her!" I just keep my mouth closed and give Alan a place to vent! Luckily, he knows her well, and lets it all slide off his back. Hopefully, Dana can do that, too! I'm here if you need to vent. Believe me, I have heard it all! My MIL is a doozy!!!
:scared1: Well at least we know what NOT to do to our kids when they have families of their own... Maybe they went to the same MIL College of Selfishness & Idiocy?:rotfl2: Dana does what Alan does. He mentions it, knows how to handle her & then it rolls off his back. I however do not let it roll. I let it fester until it becomes unbearable & at the moment she irks me I comes out with rather sharp (but respectful) comments.

I am glad Sophie and MIL are relatively okay.

I am sorry your MIL is a pill...I love your censored smiley!!:lmao:
Thanks!

I agree, it is a manipulation tactic. I don't know what she says to the 2 other brothers but I don't think she praises Dana in front of them. They have always come first even when he was a kid. He started working at 14 just to get away from her.

I'm home from the Speech appointment. It was an absolute waste of time as I suspected. I just needed to listen to them advise me of my parental rights (they had already mailed me the pamphlet) and sign a couple of consent forms. Now they have 60 days to complete his evaluation and determine if he actually qualifies for the program :confused3 She is supposed to contact me by the end of the week with an eval date.
Good luck. Hope the evaluation comes thru quickly!:wizard:

Your MIL is not a nice person. :sad2: I hope she reaps what she sows.

Nice to hear that Sophie is doing better!
Thanks!

...and a mug. Per person. I'll email (Elin and Elizabeth) a copy so you guys have it on file too. (Just in case!)

The thing abut the mug is this:
We'll be on Day 9 of our trip before the DxDDP portion starts. In all likelihood we will buy mugs when we arrive, so we won't need more mugs, even if they are free! :rotfl2:
Since I am not drinking much soda anymore I might be able to get by without a mug, but DS and DH will want them. DS drinks milk most of the time, but he does like to have lemonade or Sprite in the afternoon when we take a break. DH drinks gallons of soda.

We just in from the Dr's. Sophie tested negative for strep & ear infections so the Dr just thinks its viral. She is in great spirits today which was not the case yesterday.

Yesterday she was dizzy & in a fog which scared me. She wanted BK for lunch so I treated her to that & now she is laying down watching t.v. Thank you for all your well wishes.:goodvibes

MY MIL's appointment went well. Dana took a half vacation day just to take her to the Dr. as she was complaining yesterday that she had no one to take her (call a cab lady!
5.gif
) Anyway.....So he takes her & once in the office she goes on & on to the staff that she hates to ask her kids to drive her everywhere & we consider her a burden.  :headache: After the Dr. (they think she has an infection but nothing serious thankfully) she goes on & on to Dana in the car about how great his older brother is
1.gif
& that when she thought she was "really" sick how she was going to leave the older brother all her jewelry. I just give up with her!!! I do not want or need anything from her but why does she say things like that to him???
1.gif
Dana is such a good son to her & she just doesn't see it. :sad2: She's an

I'm gald Sophie is feeling better! I agree with Deb about your (and Glynis') MIL! :sad2:

OK, so now I am looking at adding DxDDP to that 6 night chunk at the front of the trip. If we got an AP rate on a standard room at AKL or WL then it would cost $200 more to add DxDDP, and we could add 3 more meals to actually save money AND have the mugs as soon as we check out of Club Level.
Hmmm....

Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers for my coworker!

Theresa-would love to read your nomination letter.

Great job on the dress!!!!! Terra looks so tall!

Congrats on your new wardrobe!

COOL!!!! Mine must be in the mail too! And soon we'll get our package info too!!

I agree!

Nice to hear that Sophie is doing better!

How frustrating! Is is 60 calendar days? Around here it is school days so that pushed them to the next school year for me with Joe.:headache: Hope Colby can get evaluated quickly so they can start helping him!:wizard:

They didn't mention school days and since he is not school age yet this is considered early childhood education :confused3 She hopes to have it done sooner than 60 days and I will be sure to make us available for the very first appointment that she offers. If he does qualify he should be able to start with the school speech therapist over the summer since he will be entering Kindergarten in the fall. I know that he would have more self confidence if he had at least his name under his belt by the time that school starts. Who would have thought that Colby would be a hard name to pronounce :confused3

I've decided to try an entirely new tactic to this remodeling. We've been just working around things as we have so many projects going at once. I cannot stand the messes everywhere. So I'm taking time today to remove as much as possible from the effected rooms. That means I cleaned Colby's room and we will put kitchen and living room stuff in there, leaving him room to get to his bed, bureau and closet. Hopefully Nick's room will fit into Our room. We can also stick stuff in Hunter's room since the walls are painted. We do want to paint the trim in there so I'd rather leave it as open as possible. I figure this will give the dust less places to collect. Have I mentioned how much I HATE remodeling :confused3

As a kid, I had trouble with V's, S's, and T's. My first, middle, and last names started with those three letters. It all sounded like H's. Hicki Hue Homas.

I think I am on to something here. Doing DxDDP with an AP rate for the front half would accomplish all sort of things.
1 - Mugs for the duration.
2 - 3 signature dinners, plus Tutto Italia (if it's open) which is 1 credit but expensive, would all be covered, INCLUDING appetizers!
3 - 1 more buffet breakfast
4 - Credits are valid until midnight of 8/10 which covers both TS I have booked that day.
5 - Lower cost to do DxDDP for 6 nights instead of 7
6 - We can redeem any leftover snack credits for stuff to keep in the room because we'll still be at WDW for 7 more nights.
7 - DS can choose from the adult menu. Not that he sees this as a good thing.
8 - We'll be so full by the end of these 6 nights that we won't CARE if we don't have DDP for the remainder of the trip. :rotfl:

Compared to what we were going to pay OOP this is an increase of $200 - $264 depending on room category (entirely contingent on an AP rate). But we also save $40 on mugs! ;) I did factor in that we'll be paying tips OOP. I think we'll do this regardless of what happens with free dining the following week!

OK, AP rates can come out now!

I actually followed you this time!!:lmao:

Sounds like a plan!!:thumbsup2

We definitely have to meet! We can commiserate about our MIL's over a nice Dole Whip!!!

Where's a "can of worms" smile when I need one?! :rotfl:

ETA - You do know I'm joking right??

OK. My ADRs are fixed in anticipation of DxDDP.
I added Flying Fish and Jiko, I moved 50's PT to the following week, and I added an additional breakfast at Boma. :)

So I am headed out to dinner..but i just wanted to stop by and say

IM GOING TO ALASKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When Emma had Speech Therapy she was under 3 so it was done through Early Intervention but at age 3 it was through the school system. She didn't qualify at 3 and we knew she really didn't need it anymore by then. We had Joe tested through the school system at age 3 but they said he didn't qualify for help-all the sounds he couldn't say were age appropriate for him not to say. After a few months of school he was begining to be a bit of a problem at school (he was going 3 days a week) because he knew he couldn't say some words correctly so some days he wouldn't talk at all and it wasn't like he didn't have any thing to say. I called and spoke to someone at the school and they were wanted me to talk to someone else who was not returning my phone calls. I must have waited about a month before I finally just sent a letter requesting Joe be tested in April. They put off the testing until June and then they put if off til just before school started in September and then they finally did it in the first few weeks of the school year. They still said that Joe's speech problems were age appropriate but because he wasn't talking at school (now he was going 4 days a week) they said he had a receptive language problem but their solution was speech therapy. I didn't care what they called his problem as long as he got the help he needed. He had speech therapy at the public school for I think 1 day a week until Christmas of that year. That was all the help he needed to learn how to say the few sounds he couldn't say and make him confident enough in his own speech to talk at school. I really hope Colby gets quick service!!!!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Sounds good! I'll root for GREAT AP rates and free dining to start 8/30!;)

:woohoo:

Bernadette - Despite the fact that he really SHOULD stick to Pepsi products, DH drinks whatever is on sale. Coke, Pepsi, or Dr. Pepper. Right now we have cans of Pepsi and 2 liters of Coke at home. He takes the cans to work in his little cooler, the 2 liters he drinks the rest of the time.
I am HOPING for an AP discount of $50 off per night. That's based on value season discounts from earlier this year.
