DDA Chapter 5

We're up and running. I've already added another coat of durabond on the wall cracks. For some reason the ceiling didn't dry well last night. I'll give it another couple hours then I'll add another coat there too. I think I'll head into Hunter's room and tape of the walls in prep for trim paint. I'm not sure what Chris plans to do, but he did stay home today.

Deb

Oops. I'm using Chris's computer and forgot to log on with my own username

Morning folks....

Looking out my window in disbelief at all the new snow!!

Terry...I enjoyed your pictures

Deb & Chris...listening to all you projects makes me feel like I should do something here...thankfully the feeling usually passes :)

All very good ideas! I really hope your Mom listens to everyone. Having a 2nd set of ears at an appt this important is a good idea for anyone. Would it help at all to focus the discussion on the benefits to your sister if mom takes care of these documents now? The benefits to sis should anything happen - medical, accident, etc. A "What's the best angle for getting her moving on the legal things needed to take the best care of DSis" kind of thing?

I don't know what would spur her into action. My cousin is an attorney, but she said she can't prepare documents for us since it could be seen as a conflict of interest. She said she can find someone to do it for us, though. I figure my mom should have the documents drawn up, signed, and notarized and then she can hold on to them. She needs to make a list of the bills that need to be paid each month, etc. so if I need to take over I will know what to pay and when. I'm sure I can do most of it online from here, too. The problem is getting her to agree to it. My sister had power of attorney for our father and she drained all of his accounts, so I think Mom needs to NOT make that same mistake. And really, all I am asking for at this point is MEDICAL POA. Once we have a better idea of what's coming down the pike we can talk about other documents. Although she could be hit by a truck tomorrow and I would need ALL of the documents.

Marci - I did sleep for about 6 hours last night, and I am getting off at lunchtime today so I can grab a nap before I pick up DS. DH got called into work today because another guy didn't show up (and he left a voice mail where he was pretty sure nobody would find it  ) so DH is bailing them out.

Good morning DDA!

Sounds like lots going on around here lately...

Marci - :wizard: for the tournament this weekend. I hope that Andrew plays with confidence.

Paula - Sounds crazy as usual around there. It's so nice to have your posting though!

Deb - Your projects seem to be coming along. Hope the crazy getup keeps your allergies as in check as they can be while sanding, etc.

Elin - Yeah for a Christmas trip! :woohoo: Can't wait to hear the details as you work them out.

Terry - Hope Guenna can work something out with her kitty. I'm so sorry that they have to give her up though.

Jennifer - Good luck at the inlaws! I hope the stay doesn't drive you too crazy.

Jen - I forgot to say earlier, but yeah for the Alaska cruise! I am soooo jealous! That is one trip that I would love to take. My mom won out and my parents did an Alaskan cruise for thier anniversary a few years ago. They loved it.

:wizard: and :grouphug: to everyone!

Not much here today. Kristi's best friend's babysitter was sick this morning so I have two of Robin's kids for the day so I guess we're not getting out any. I've got plenty that needs done around her though and her son is 7yo and on spring break so Terra's thrilled with a playmate for the day. I guess he is too as he's spent all week with the babysitter and the babies.

I guess today is the day to finish getting my first family reunion letter out. I've finally got a bunch of the email addresses and everything in order for that so I'd better get it going.

Terry love the pictures! :wizard: that a home is found for the kitty or that your cats will get along with the new addition.

Elin :cool1: for the Christmas trip. What dates are you planning on going?

Marci good luck to Andrew!

Kristine sorry about the snow :sad2: We were spared yesterday & only got rain.

Good luck to Guenna -- I hope she can find a good home for her fur baby. If not, I hope it's an easy transition to your house. Cute pics!

Elin -- congrats on a Christmas trip!

I hope all the kids that were sick are better.

Deb -- PD for you to get lots done today!

Paula -- good luck with the fundraising.

Elizabeth -- I hope you slept better last night. You have to take care of yourself so you can enjoy your visit next weekend.

I know I've missed some, so sending out a blanket of PD for all who need it.

We have two soccer games in two different towns tomorrow, and a baseball tournament that is thankfully in our town. Jake also has a birthday party tomorrow evening an hour away from us. There is a reason that my Tahoe is turning over 200,000 miles today.

If you happen to think about it this weekend, please send some good thoughts to Andrew for the baseball tournament for confidence. :)

Thanks for the recap, Marci! I'm going to ditto! :thumbsup2

Good luck to Andrew and Jake this weekend on all the various sports! You poor thing - all that driving. I think DART needs to make its way out to Kaufman! :goodvibes

It is my goal in life to keep you all guessing! :rotfl2:

I am thinking a Deluxe Room at WL would be the perfect fit for us this Christmas. It has a separate sitting room with a sleep sofa and 2 Queen beds in the bedroom area. It is also Club Level. The research on this will continue after I get back from teaching for a couple of hours this morning.

Jennifer - I hope the trip to the in-laws is not too stressful.

How wonderful for you! I know that makes you very happy. :goodvibes When will you be going? The WL sounds great! :thumbsup2

So as I am getting the pictures loaded into my photobucket account, I really look at Nicholas and see how his allergies are kicking up. It is amazing how pictures really show how he is doing.

Guenna called me today in tears to say that he tested positive for severe cat allergies. Guenna has had her cat Josie for 14 years and for the past two years, Josie decided to sleep with Nick. Guenna knows we are busy with our three cats, but she also knows that we will help. I am just not sure how Josie and our Ella will react to each other. Two female cats just do not do good together unless they are siblings. We took care of Josie years back for a few months and everyone did fine. That was even when we had all five cats.

So, unless she can get a friend to take Josie in, she will be staying with us. Lets hope that all of these cats who are all now 14 years old will be able to cope with each other.
 for all. Is Nicholas feeling better? What is the latest on the cat? Are you taking her in?

Paula,

It is so nice to see you posting. Sorry things are getting hectic for you.
Life in general is hectic I think, but I think that is always the case. ;)
Thank you.
We are always working on some nutty issue don't you think. :rotfl:

Aidan update:

Well it was a full day yesterday and things didn't go as well as hoped for. It seems that Aidan's Lungs are no better then when he left the hospital. He still has the malasia in his Trach and now has some built up scar tissue that will need to be removed. So this will make two surgeries in one month. The removal however of this scar tissue might open everything up and we could see some marked improvements with his trach cap.

Today we scheduled his Cochlear Implant for the 16th of April. We will only be doing one-side at a time, but are excited about it. We have chosen to go with a company called Cochlear out of Australia, they are the leading provider of this type of product and have many advocates that will fight insurance when we are denied on the second one. Unless a few prayers are answered first before we have to fight.

So once again another full month, a couple of sedations and all this without a daytime nurse. It seems our last one wasn't mature enough to talk about some issues she had and just left us in the dark. Now with the nursing shortage, we are the ones in need. We have gotten this far playing mom and dad with the Lords help and we certainly will make it through the end. We will keep y'all updated with changes.
I was just thinking of them yesterday, thank you for the update.

Good morning. :)

Paula - you might be able to get what you are looking for at familyfun.com
I checked that, but nothing so far. I will ask around town and see if I can find one.

Thanks, Anne Marie! It looks like my family wants to go back to WDW for Christmas this year. Can you imagine how happy that made me?!?!
Did I tell you we are family? Yes yes yes it is true... we.... we have the same....ah... great great great grandblahblah. Yes that is correct and that then makes us family so I guess we get to come with you. :lmao:

That is great news!

Paula -- good luck with the fundraising.

We have two soccer games in two different towns tomorrow, and a baseball tournament that is thankfully in our town. Jake also has a birthday party tomorrow evening an hour away from us. There is a reason that my Tahoe is turning over 200,000 miles today.

Thank you, I think I should become a companies personal fundraiser CEO. :rotfl2:
Yes, that is right I will find a job that pays me to do all this work.

Say enjoy all the games this weekends. And give that Tahoe a nice wash and wax after all it's hard work.
Sending Andrew :woohoo:

Did I tell you I have a room for you and your family to come visit and help us make changes to our house? ;)
Keep up the good work, you will be so happy when it is done.

Morning folks....

Looking out my window in disbelief at all the new snow!!
Be safe today with the continued snow.

No word from Guenna yet on the possible addition of another furball to the house. I hope to hear from her this afternoon. After all these years I finally bought new cat food bowls and a very big water bowl. They go thru a lot of water in one day. Which is a good thing :goodvibes Keeps the pipes clear.

It is a teapot embedded in the Boston Skyline. I liked it better than any drawings of the actual tea party that I found online!
Now I see, they correspond to each ticker. :thumbsup2 So you will be back at WDW for Christmas?!?!

"True" Friendship

None of that Sissy Crap

Are you tired of those sissy "friendship" poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card- Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry ^%$*(&^^ who made you sad.

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.

4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.

6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.

7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy butt.

9. This is my oath ... I pledge it to the end "Why?" you may ask; "because you are my friend".

Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel it's true warmth.

Remember: A friend will help you move. A really good friend will help you move a body. Let me know if I ever need to bring a shovel...

Thank you for making it more clear. I mean I could tell that it was a teapot against a skyline but the question I still had was why? :lmao:

So guess what???? I don't have any incoming phone calls at work today...my coworker left on vacation 2 weeks ago and didn't tell me before hand that he had authorized changing phone companies. Well....we now have a disconnected #.

So I called the company and not only did I have to spell out Littleton (which I can understand) and Methodist (:confused3 ) I had to explain to her 3 different ways why I could only give her the office # as a contact #....umm we have 6 lines coming in (supposedly) and they are all dead...why would I carry a cell phone into work??

So it's really quiet right now:lmao:

Sounds like a good day of work to me. ;) I wonder how much you can get done when not interupted by phones? :thumbsup2

Fridays are my slow (super slow) days so unless I want to do my work for next week I am here DISing.

I may work on my resume a little while too...hey give me the free time and I'll fill it:thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Funny thing is I finally talked to a supervisor and he couldn't get why I didn't have another number either:confused3 Didn't realize I would need my cell today...sorry.

When he changed phone companies he could not grandfather it so the number would stay the same? Or at least have a disconnect message? :confused3

What a moron. Sorry you had to deal with this. But I am sure the peace and quiet was very welcome :lmao:

Thanks to Denise!!!

What do you think?
