Theresa - You know what? That is quite a quagmire over there and I don't think I am going to get involved! But FWIW, I don't think there is anything wrong with what you posted. You are 100% right about it being what works for YOUR family. Believe me, there are PLENTY of examples of what I consider "parenting no-no's" on these boards, but I don't go down the path of TELLING people (even people who ASK) that they are doing it wrong. As long as I don't have to come in every morning and nanny the child they are screwing up then more power to them!

I was explaining what was going on to Jim and he was like ...I forgot to tell him our marriage was called into question...he'd probably laugh over that one.

I think with teens (and pre-teens like DS and Abi) ANYTHING you can do to keep them communicating with you is absolutely sacred. I am positive that DH would have no issue with it if DS was a girl.

DS likes to "camp" in the living room with DH, so once in awhile I get the bedroom to myself. It doesn't happen very often though, because of DH's schedule. And I don't think DS shares his deepest secrets with DH when they "camp". Partly because I think DS prefers to have DH as the "fun" parent and me as the "serious" parent, and partly because DH falls asleep as soon as he sits still for more than 5 seconds.

we will be going to the Passion Play. I have found it a wonderfully moving way to start the Easter weekend.

I just need to figure out what to have for supper before hand...maybe just mac & cheese and fishsticks...yup that's it...that's the ticket!!

I work tomorrow. then tomorrow night will go over to moms and dye easter eggs.

I think it is Janet who makes fried corn.

Princess and I dyed some eggs this afternoon. We ran out of eggs LONG before Princess was ready to quit, though! I handed her over to Dadboss along with the stickers and things that came in the decorating kit so it's his deal now!

He actually paid me a bonus for working today. I told him it wasn't necessary because this isn't a scheduled holiday for me, so he said to call it an "Easter" bonus. I thought that was really nice! The money is already in my Disney envelope.

DH bought a heat & serve pizza at Sam's for dinner because we didn't know what time I would get home. I am not terribly fond of those, so I think I will have a bowl of cereal. My day has improved and I still feel like I am coming down with a respiratory thing.

...I don't mind being flamed for my opinion but they are attacking my family and morals.

I was telling Elizabeth...this group would be even more appalled if I told them I'm not an attached parenter...I only opened the dang thread to find out what the heck it was. Why can't parenting just be called parenting??

I have *ONE* person on ignore. The thing about "ignore" is if someone else quotes them then you will still see their posts in the quotes.

Robyn - YAY for the right photo, and for the freebies! I love good customer service!

And, it's not like the whole post disappears. It's just "blocked" and you still see that the person posted... and I can't get past the temptation half the time to look at what they posted anyway!

this is true....I've got 2 and I went back to the thread and I may put a third on. I have been flamed before but this is downright vicious and personal. Oh well....all but those 3 of them are standing up for me and not quoting them

I'm glad you aren't taking it personally! I've learned that, while some wonderful friendships CAN be made online, many things people say (especially certain people) are just not worth wasting a second glance!

So the Dell Saga continues!

My replacement computer is different and tech support told me i could get a refund..now we are getting passed person to person to find someone to authorize a refund--now im looking at hp laptops..any expoierences HP Pavilion dv9700z series

Theresa, Elin makes the fried corn(I have not tried it yet), but here is her recipe:

Mom's Fried Corn

As much corn as you want (can be thawed frozen, or canned, drained well)
A full stick of butter or margarine
Salt & pepper to taste (I use no salt, and a little pepper)

Melt butter in an electric skillet on low. Add well-drained corn and stir well. Cover and cook on low until the corn starts to caramelize. Salt and pepper to taste just before serving. (I put this on in the morning and cook it for a few hours.)
