Theresa - You know what? That is quite a quagmire over there and I don't think I am going to get involved!
But FWIW, I don't think there is anything wrong with what you posted. You are 100% right about it being what works for YOUR family. Believe me, there are PLENTY of examples of what I consider "parenting no-no's" on these boards, but I don't go down the path of TELLING people (even people who ASK) that they are doing it wrong. As long as I don't have to come in every morning and nanny the child they are screwing up then more power to them!
