Karen- Sorry for your loss.
you know whats funny--ive lived this close to philly my entire life and never really been there to look around--just for concerts and stuff.
Is everyone doing sat-sun..or are people planning on friday too?
I hope to do Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I too have not done to much stuff in Philly. Well I guess that is a white lie, but I haven't done stuff in Philly in awhile. I have been to the Philly Zoo when my cousin Bobby was like 2 he is 13. I have been to the Franklin Institute and the Philadelphia Museum of art. I have done some of the historical sights. The only time I ever stayed overnight was on a youth group trip. We stayed in a church directly across from the Philadelphia Mint. We did some touristy things and prepared and served food in a homeless shelter.
Although I occasionally have worked in downtown Philly reccently I have not really done much tourist stuff in at least 7 years.
Things I would want to do... Duck tour or a Segway tour, maybe the Philly zoo but that is not really in Philly, The historical sights
Elizabeth-thanks for that video on lemons.
I am going to place an order from minimus.biz again for my May trip. I may have to order a few packets of lemon juice (10 cents each).
I always order water with no lemon, not for that reason though. Now I guess I will tell them to take it back if it has a lemon. Then again knowing me I will just take the risk and just remove the lemon off the glass, as long as it is not floating.
This reminds me of I think it was my second trip to WDW. My Aunt, brother and I grabbed a lot of the packets of lemon juice at the Crystal Palace and made lemonade with all the sugar and lemon packets. Apparently, we got bored or creative. This was before it was the Pooh character breakfast. My Aunt and I also had our picture taken in front of a mirror smelling the roses in a vase.
Thanks for the comments on the pictures. I took more today but have no idea how they turned out. The event went well. I got put to work but that is what I am there for. I hate standing on the sidelines, like I am there observing and critiquing because I am not. Two girls taught Irish step dance, there was a high school student who played the bag pipes, they did origami, learned songs and games and had ice cream sundaes.
Anyone familiar with the area that can tell me where the closest campground would be?
Not sure, I am assuming you are looking for someplace to park your RV?? Let me ask around. I am drawing blanks but I know lots of people who camp. I have just not really camped around the Philly area except at a Boy or Girl Scout camp and those are most likely in use for summer programs. I know their is a KOA campground in West Chester that is about 40 minutes away from downtown give or take. I will see if I can find something closer. This website has a list of
campgrounds near Valley Forge, so depending where in the Philly area we do things will determine how long it takes to get there.
