DDA Chapter 3

Theresa, it turns out that our community college does waive tuition for "dual credit" high school students! Learn something new every day! I can't make heads or tails out of the silly PE requirements. It LOOKS like he will be required to take one semester of PE in 7th and one semester in 8th, but if he plays baseball that might count. High school looks like he needs 3 semesters of PE, but I might be wrong because the chart is confusing. I think the only reason PE isn't mandatory for 6th graders is because they just moved the 6th graders to the middle school so the 6th grade requirements are still set up for an elementary setting.

I have had a season pass to Hershey park for several years. I really like the park. It has a good mix of kid and thrill rides. Last year they opened a water section in the park, it is tons of fun but always crowded especially on hot days. There is also Zoo America which is free with park admission on the day of admission. You can also visit Chocolate World, which is free to everyone and outside the park. You can see how they make the candy. It is not Disney, but still lots of fun.

Giant and some other stores always tend to have coupons. I am not sure if those coupons are a better deal then the coupons I have with my season pass. If you are going I might be able to meet you there.

There is also Six Flags over America which is right outside of DC. Paramount's King's Dominion and Busch gardens in Virginia.

Thank you for the info! :)

Um, Bernadette? If I can book Cape May tomorrow, and Cape May is dinner on your arrival day, doesn't that make tomorrow your 180 mark for August? Or did I calculate it wrong?

EDIT:
Never mind! I calculated it wrong. Your 180 mark isn't until 2/16. I was confused because of the 180+10.

Elizabeth - what day/time are you looking at for Cape May? I've got TGM best days in front of me and I'm trying to do some park day planning.

Good morning, DDA! Well, that cool front came through it seems. Guess I had better go turn the heat back on as its starting to get a little cool in the house.

I really need to get some stuff done today, but I am feeling terrible lazy. Maybe I'll do a little and then plunk myself back down here to design the things for Terra's party. She has changed it to a "Toy Story" theme instead of "Woody and Buzz." Apparently, a big distinction to her thinking. It does mean that I have a little more leeway in the games, cake, etc. Gotta get planning on that!

Well, I have my shirt just about finished. I have to finish off all the places where I ran the elastic through and hem the bottom. I'm not sure what I think yet. Chuck and the girls like it.

th_shirt.jpg

Great job, Vicki!

Ooo, I would love that, Lindsay!!! Could you manage to move Texas a little closer to Utah? That would help immensely. :rotfl2:

I'd just about move heaven and earth to not have to cook after a long day of work! :rotfl2:

Working on cake pics. I am having issues with the memory cards not loading into the computer! :scared:

This one is Princess's cake. It looks a little funny because I cropped it so her name won't show!

th_Olympus115.jpg

This is DS's.

th_BirthdayCake016.jpg

Love them both! Can we please now stop talking about cake? ;)

Thanks. I don't think at this moment, but depending on where things go I could definitely see it happening. ;) :goodvibes Plus, I just got my planner, so I'll dangle that under his nose for awhile. I'm really getting him into this Disney stuff. When he comes over on Wednesday he wants to sit down and decide where we are eating, and then look at the menus to get an idea of prices to figure out which would be better, the dde or the ddp. He even said to me today...."are we six months out from August yet? We'll need to make ADRs soon." I think he realized the importance of planning when he kept seeing people get turned away from LeCellier in October.

WTG, Bob!! :thumbsup2

my job is an after school counselor hired on by the ymca. its kinda ironic because i am at a school that was named after one of my mom's principles she worked under. also i might be doing an at home csr position.

Congratulations, Karen! :yay: :yay:

Chris said thanks the condolences. He is moping his way to bed now. He said he doesn't have the strength to post :lmao: My mother called and she got so worked up over the game she is physically ill. She gets way too into these games. :sad2:

I thought of Chris after that game. I can't profess that I wanted either team to win, but at least it was hard-fought.

I thought I'd show everybody what we got Cassidy for her 16th:

th_Cass.jpg

Perfect!

I had a strange comment/question for you all... Had anyone else read that Fox and the NFL had decided not to run any political ads during the Super Bowl? I had read that they determined that it would be unfair since not all the candidates could afford the cost of an ad. Imagine my surprise when an Obama ad popped up tonight!

We had some local commercials thrown in the mix this year - first time I've ever noticed them before! Maybe that ad appeared during one of those time slots?

I think I have yet to see a presidential ad in Texas! (It's been nice!)

So Lindsay, have you gotten a code yet, since you were told to email Disney and ask for one???

Horray for Disney... Boo for feeling bad.

Feel better!!!!!!!
Thanks!

Thanks...I needed something Valentiney.:)

That's me & Dana at Beaches & Cream!:rotfl2:
I can't see your picture.

I just booked the Palo Brunch for Dana & I!:woohoo:  :cool1:

Now I can go to sleep!
Congrats!!!!:woohoo:

A dentist appt. would make me feel sick, even if I felt fine otherwise! I hope you feel better today!

Princess has swimming today, but I don't have to get in the water!:cool1: Momboss and I have decided if the other girls inthe class are going to be naughty and disruptive that we might move Princess to the 9 AM class. It would be a bit tight to get her there by 9 AM, but we would be home by 9:45 so she wouldn't have to eat a big breakfast before we left. I'll ask her instructor what the 9 AM class is like and if it is full.
Thanks! The dentist went better than I was fearing-with a cold.

Hope swimming goes well or that you can switch to the 9am class.

Yeah for Disney! I hope you feel better ASAP!
Thanks!

Since Aurora woke me up at 6 AM playing soccer with the bathroom scale I decided to make more ADRs. :rolleyes1
I can call for the big DDA Cape May dinner tomorrow. It has to go through Gruop Dining so I guess it's good that I got my other ones out of the way today.
Thanks for making that one for us!

Um, Bernadette? If I can book Cape May tomorrow, and Cape May is dinner on your arrival day, doesn't that make tomorrow your 180 mark for August? Or did I calculate it wrong?

EDIT:

Good. I'm not ready yet. I've got 10 more days then right?

Elizabeth - what day/time are you looking at for Cape May? I've got TGM best days in front of me and I'm trying to do some park day planning.

Thursday August 14th.

Not too early as we arrive that day but not too late as Janet leaves the next day. Hoping for something in the 5:30-6:00 range.

My SIL did with my oldest nephew. I am not sure when it resolved but it must have been when he was about 7. The doctor did say if boys have male relatives who have to go during the middle of the night he most likely will too. Poor kid seemed to inherited the Heppner small bladder.

I meant to respond to this, Deb. My DB had problems with this - probably until he was 10 or so. My parents ended up getting some sort of nasal spray that ended up working for him - I can't remember the name, but could ask if you're interested. I think you have a bit of a ways to go until you need to get concerned, though. Here's some  in the meantime!

2 good things happened to me this morning. 1) The payoff on the car has cleared so I don't have to send the payment for February!
2) When a HUGE sign fell off the wall at the grocery store this morning and pulled down some light fixtures I wasn't standing anywhere near it! And neither was anyone else, thank goodness!
It was a HUGE 12 foot section of signage above the meat case (the one where you choose the meats and they wrap them for you). The sign came off the wall and pulled down a bunch of flourescent tubing. A man had been standing there buying some steaks about 15 seconds before it fell. That man should go buy a lottery ticket today because he has some incredible luck! It was the loudest noise I have ever heard in a store. It is truly amazing that nobody got hurt.

Yay for payoffs, and WOW for the falling signage! Glad neither you or anyone else was hurt!

I got this in an email today. I hope no one is offended but I thought I'd share it with you all...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=zCdZwitrNoY

That is precious. That actually happened on the Christian station in Houston that my mom listens to. They obviously played it on the air, and then put it on their website. Apparently, they had so much traffic on their website from it, that it crashed the site!

So we went to get DS and as I am sitting there in the carpool my phone rings. The lady identifies herself as being from the school, but she isn't one of DS's teachers. So I start to panic. :scared1: I am thinking he is either injured or ill, but at least I am RIGHT THERE.

Then she proceeds to tell me he is one of the Science Fair winners so we need to make sure to attend the ceremony tomorrow night!
I hate Science Fair, but it is gooooood to win!;) Heh heh.

I told her he is in the band so we were planning to be there anyway. :goodvibes

Congrats to DS (and to you!)!!!

I'm obviously home! I came back to work in total disarray, and ended up working not a shortened day as promised, but about 12 hours instead. Blech! I'm so incredibly burnt out. Oh, well. I'm back on about 110, even after catching up some... I'll be awhile. I hope you all are doing well! :goodvibes

Sorry that your Monday (and weekend) weren't all that fun. Hopefully today will be much better for you!

So I haven't been sewing but I have been working on some other things recently.

Great job, Becky!

The kids have accepted we're not at Disney this week much better than I anticipated. Rees, BK, and I all 3 tested positive for flu (and we had the shots). It's really bad here now as the flu strain we had wasn't in the shot this year. We have rescheduled for April 26-May 3. Hopefully, the P&PP will still be going on then too.

Glad you guys are doing better. Lots of body parts crossed for y'all and your April trip!

Let me introduce my new great nephew, he was born January 29th.

Beautiful, Debbie - both the design, and the baby! :goodvibes

For anyone who flies United.....have you seen this?

CHICAGO - United Airlines will begin charging passengers $25 to check in a second piece of luggage for domestic travel if they are not part of its most-frequent-flier programs, the airline said Monday.

The charge will generate more than $100 million in revenue and cost savings each year, UAL Corp. said. The change takes effect May 5 and applies to tickets purchased on or after Monday.

Travelers would have to log at least 25,000 miles in a year on United to ensure they can check their second bag for free.

I heard about that yesterday - just ridiculous. Fortunately, I never fly United, but I just don't see how this is going to fly for long. I could see a super-low-cost carrier do this (keep the ticket prices down for the majority, but charge those who want extras), but I don't see how this is a wise move for a legacy carrier. I sometimes think whomever runs the airlines need to have their heads examined! :headache:

Elizabeth - what day/time are you looking at for Cape May? I've got TGM best days in front of me and I'm trying to do some park day planning.

I see Bernadette already posted the details for you. :) Hopefully they will be able to book us about 6 PM.
I am going to try to book the fishing charter for DH that morning so it might be kind of a blow off day for us. I guess we'll see. If DS doesn't want to go fishing then maybe I will take him to a park and let DH catch up later. Or let DH have a day to do whatever by himself. He keeps telling me he is going to go on a solo trip. Right. He would be bored out of his head by himself. :rotfl2:

Swimming was better today because Miss Naughty wasn't allowed to sit by the basket with all the accessories in it! She was still naughty, but she couldn't reach anything! The 9 AM class is full, so we are kind of stuck.

:figment: :figment: 3 months from today I'll be at Disney!!!!:figment: :figment:

I guess I should go to bed. I'm feeling lousy again  and I have an 8am dentist appointment in the morning.

Yay (me, too!) :dance3:

I hope the dentist went okay, and that you're feeling better today!

I just booked the Palo Brunch for Dana & I!:woohoo:  :cool1:

Now I can go to sleep!

YAY!!!! I'm glad that worked out for you guys! :yay: :yay:

The cool front stalled, so we are warm and humid again this morning -- in the 70s with possible rain. This is one of the times I'm glad my hair isn't naturally curly!

This weather is so whacky - I hate this humid weather. Did you guys get awakened by the thunderstorms early this a.m.? They rolled through our area around 4:30 a.m., and were LOUD and torrential. :scared: I was worried that we might have to move into a closet, the way the wind was whipping around! Thankfully, all seems to have calmed down!

Good Morning DDA!

Just got Leighanna off to school. I should have put her arm floaties on! It is raining sheets! And... it is supposed to be "heavy" tonight! Whoa! What is this?!

Don't have time to respond to everyone's posts!

All the scrapbooking pages are great!

Deb and Vicki, good job on your sewing projects.
Alot of time when I am testing out new patterns, I use very inexpensive fabric $1.00 a yard or less. If I don't like how it comes out, I am only out my time and thread!

Time for Breakfast...... Hmmm..... I haven't taken out the trash yet!;) Wonder what everyone had last night....The good thing is, we're out of Bleach and Windex, so I should be fine!;) Time to dig something up!:rotfl:

Have a great day all!

Sounds like you guys are having fun weather, too, Tom! :wizard: :wizard:

So, what was for breakfast? ;)

I just called Southwest to ask them about my credit that expires in July. I don't think I will be going anywhere, and I don't want to have to pay even MORE money to buy tickets to go somewhere I didn't want to go in the first place!:headache: The DING fares I have been seeing aren't all that great.

I have the worst luck with them. I can use the credit, or I can pay $50 to have a 6 month extension, or I can let it expire and have nothing. Great. The guy said the credit is transferrable but I don't see how that is helpful. People on the Transportation board seem to be able to get the credit put back on their credit cards, but maybe those were refundable tickets to start with?

That's frustrating, Elizabeth. I've only run into this problem once, and they were able to somewhat extend the credit for me. What I had to do was pay for a ticket like normal, but then once travel was complete, they credited my credit card the amount of the credit that had expired. I was traveling only a few weeks, though, after the initial expiration date, so maybe that had something to do with it. :wizard: that you can get a favorable resolution!

So Lindsay, have you gotten a code yet, since you were told to email Disney and ask for one???

Um, yeah. I think we all know how THAT request turned out! :rolleyes1 :headache:

Lindsay - I guess I will just watch and see if I can get cheap flights to Kansas City so DS and I can go see my mother. The thing is I don't have any vacation time until the end of June. Dadboss MIGHT take Princess to see his folks over Easter, but I don't know when they would leave. DS might have Good Friday off if they don't need an ice day before then, but Dadboss usually flies out on Friday afternoon. I don't want to hassle with flying out Friday night and flying home Sunday afternoon. I am off a few days at the end of this month. DS & I could go Thurs. night through Sunday afternoon. It would cost another $79 on top of my credit and DS would miss one day of school. The thing is, it is still really cold up there and I don't like cold! I also don't want to risk getting stuck if the weather turns bad. :scared:

Checking in...

Not sure when I'll be able to check back in with you guys.

I told a couple of you on this thread last week that I believed I was pregnant....which I am.

Unfortunately, it has turned out to what doctors believe is an ectopic pregnancy. So joy has turned into sadness/fear very quickly in this household. Not really sure what the future holds right now....I am on daily monitoring...if levels do not decrease on their own I am facing possible surgery maybe even emergency surgery if the pain persists. As awful as it sounds, the better thing would be to have have a natural miscarriage......and unless something resolves very quickly, there will be no Disney trip.

Bill is completely out of his mind right now....after the doctor pumped him full of the ectopic risks (mainly the death one) he has been hovering all over me.

I did instruct him to call Marti & Marci should something happen.

Well, there you have it.

Kristine - I don't know what to say other than I will be lifting you up in prayer. Lots of   :wizard: :wizard: and prayers for strength and peace for both you, Bill, and the rest of your family. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.

Oh, Kristine! Please know that I am wishing the very best for you! I can't even imagine the range of emotions you must be going through. Take care of yourself and know that we are all worrying about you and hoping that everything turns out OK! :wizard: :wizard:
