DDA Chapter 3

I'm sorry you are still feeling sick!
Yay for Katie's grades!
Those boys sounds like they need to be kicked out of the class! It also sounds like they need to be evaluated for autism or something. I'm sorry, but if they are that disruptive then it isn't the place for them. They are WAY too old to act that way. Sister had a pair like that in her Jewish education class but those boys were like 4 years old. I guess your students are what the boys become after several years of being allowed to run rampant. I'm glad you won't have to deal with them anymore! :thumbsup2

Thanks Elizabeth,

I think they would do better in the church school rather than a home class. I guess they feel too "at home". My son is not a rough & super active alpha male so I do not know how to deal with it.

Debbie - can you post the link to where you are finding the free Disney stuff? I can't find it.

Thanks Tammi!

I have nothing to make for dinner today.....ugh...maybe PB&J's!

I gave all my PB&J to my DD, even the chocolate chip cookie dough that was in the freezer. It's a good thing that I gave all that stuff away, because I have had a "hungry" day today, all I had here was light yogurt and carrot sticks.

Here are some of the links I use. Not really tutorials, just embellishments, etc. Have fun! I'm sorry if I've created monsters ;) but at least, as I told Chanon, it's cheaper than paper scrapping! :teeth:

http://www.shabbyprincess.com/
http://scrapbookflair.com/
http://www.designerdigitals.com/
http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/shopping.asp?f=506 (and clicking back to this homepage will give you TONS Of layout ideas, etc -- lots of traditional paper scrapping, but still good tips!)
http://cottagearts-net.stores.yahoo.net/
http://www.matterofscrap.com/

And here is the link to the original Elements tutorials I used. I swear, you make some goofy looking stuff, but learn a TON about Photoshop. Then, if you get a larger version besides Elements, there are other sites as well that build off of these techniques.

http://myjanee.home.insightbb.com/tutorialselements.htm

ETA Goofy examples of stuff made from scratch with the above-mentioned tutorials ;)

foldedpaperandwoodcopy.jpg

finishedcorkboardcopy.jpg

So obviously some of this stuff you'll never use.... you can much more easily FIND a frame, or corkboard background, or straight pin, etc. But the techniques you learn are priceless!

Princess has had a nap, she has been bathed, and all of her laundry is done. Now she has some time to play before dinner.

DH was supposed to go look at band portraits today. They sent this postcard saying we HAD to go look at them TODAY and choose a pose for the "wall composite". Not that being in the wall composite is that important to DS, but whatever. So DH made DS hang around at school for an extra half hour because they weren't showing the photos until 4 PM. They went to the band room and there was a note that the date has changed to NEXT Tuesday. First of all, DS was REALLY mad about having to stay for the extra time, he wanted to go home immediately. Well, lo and behold, after he saw the notice he miraculously remembered that the teacher TOLD them about the date change.:headache: My child.:sad2: If he would have remembered the date change (or told ME) then he wouldn't have had to stay at school until 4 PM.

Good point. I didn't even realize that's what it was. Obviously I'm not a Jack Skellington fan.

took me awhile too....not a fan either!

I somehow missed this post last night, but thanks to Marci's quote I saw it. Congrats to Kathrin! :cool1:

i missed it too---congrats Kathrin!

Jen, you should totally do a Disney Cruise! I was just convincing everyone at my work yesterday to take one with their respective families! ;) I'm still bummed that we canceled ours for last fall, and I can't wait until we can book one again!
I think were looking at july 2009--so awehile..but something to plan and save for!!!

I went back and added a journal to the page,

scrappage2.gif

love it!
Well here is my creation. I'm just starting to play around with things have haven't really read any tutorials. Hopefully I will get better.

Looks great!

thanks besides babies r us and toys r us where have you seen them?
I actually did buy mine at Babies R Us. I found a nice MacLaren single stroller at the dump and it didn't have a rain cover. We brought it to WDW in August 2006 and used it for the week we were there and then I gave it to my girlfriend from FL. She still has it. Since we were going in August I felt I had to have a rain cover. It worked really well and I think it was under $10.

What sit n stand stroller do you have? Do you think you could just get a single cover? They are pretty big to fit all sizes of strollers-I wonder if they have enough slack to cover the "jump" seat for Olivia so it wouldn't get wet but she could wear a poncho herself if she was riding on the stroller in the rain.

I am doing it because both the girls want to learn....might as well learn too!!

I am hoping my friend can show me some leftie secrets....it's so hard looking at a right handed machine with my brain without exploding!!
I think my machine can be used either way-it has seam allowances shown on both sides of the foot. But it has been a long time since I've used it. Before I had my own children I used it a lot. I even made a friend a Christening gown. My sisters are really good-one of them made my wedding gown.

Well, today was a Monday, but I do have a BlackBerry that can now place phone calls! :thumbsup2
Glad things are looking up. Hope its 100% soon!

Ask and you shall receive.
SO cute!

I'll let you know! I figured it couldn't hurt, but I definitely don't expect anything! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Wouldn't that be cool!

It looks like it will just be the two of us. Kathrin got a job offer from one of the firms in Boston this weekend. She is "thinking about it" mainly because it is the firm at the bottom of her list, but they offered her everything she asked for. And we are all very hopeful that Kristin will be a gainfully employed actor (or waitress) before September rolls around.
Congrats to Kathrin and  for you! Good luck to Kristin!

I just realized I blew through my milestone! I've been watching for it for 5 days. :lmao: Oh well, happy 9000 to me!
Congratulations!

I am trying sorry these back spasms keep distracting me
:wizard: Hope you can find relief soon!

I notice that Lindsay has had email address problems with CRO. There are a bunch of threads about how horrible it is. I have not received anything as confirmation that I have my reservation for September. I said something to the CM last night about never getting any emails from Disney and he double checked my address and said I would receive my reservation confirmation within a couple of hours. Well... it has been over 24 hours and nothing. I give up! I will call tomorrow and ask that they snail mail me a confirmation.
I don't always get my confirmations emailed to me.:confused3 When I went to WDW in December 2006 the CM who took my order for the MVMCP tickets spelt my street name wrong and I think it took about 15 calls to get them to finally fix it.

Cassidy stayed home from school today...part mental health day and part just whatever we all had over the weekend. We spent a lot of the weekend in bed.....there was a malaise in my house...not sure it's completely gone and I must have stepped wrong sometime this weekend as my whole lower left side is in pain.
Hope she's feeling better now!

Chuck is still not feeling well. His throat is sore and he was having trouble talking without having coughing spasms. He is off to bed.
Hope Chuck is better too!

I can TOTALLY see you in both of these!

I've come to love http://www.renysplace.com/pages/links.html for the links she offers!
Thanks for the link!

Here are the patterns that I bought.
Cool! Will you make the hat too?

Princess has had a nap, she has been bathed, and all of her laundry is done. Now she has some time to play before dinner.

Wow, Princess does her own laundry?!! You really do know how to train kids Elizabeth! :rotfl:

Good evening DDA!

Bernadette, you posted some more awesome pictures in your trip report the other day! :thumbsup2

I'm enjoying seeing all the digital scrapbook pages! I don't even want to think about how many hundreds of dollars worth of supplies I have sitting, collecting dust, in my very cluttered craft room.

I hope everyone starts feeling better soon. :wizard:

I took Matty to his 18-month WELL appointment today, only to find out he has another ear infection. Poor kid must be used to them, because he's been sleeping fine, not tugging on his ears, etc. It's a good thing he's a medicine junkie! He's like a little bird when he sees a medicine dropper. :rotfl:

Kevin has another city council meeting tonight, so Alyssa's movie of choice is Mulan. For now, it even has Matty's attention.

Have a good night and stay warm!
Amy :)

Steffy- Thanks for popping in. :wizard:

Terry- :wizard: that you get better soon so we can have you posting again.

Tammi- Sounds like you all had a nice day. Love the scrapbook page!

Lindsay- Sounds like your mess is getting a little less messier. Did the internet start working yet? I mailed your package off today.

Anne Marie- Hope your crew kicks the sickies and soon. :cool1: for Katie. And :woohoo: on not having to teach the boy's religion class.

Debbie- Love your scrapbook pages! And I  the story about your DH. Hope the hungries go away.

Elin- Congrats to Kristin  Great job Mom and Dad! Sorry you had a nasty CM earlier. Really how bad can their life be if they work for Disney:confused3

Glynis- I am so glad to hear that Alan made it home safely last night. Hope your headache is gone for good. Be safe tonight.

Elizabeth- Your insurance mess makes me want to beat my head against the wall. :wizard: that it gets fixed soon. for Princess being so well behaved at swimming.

Jennifer- Hope your back spasms let up. We got a stroller cover for our double stroller at Babies r Us. It was $23 and came in handy.

Vicki and Deb- Good luck on the sewing projects! I'm sure they will be wonderful. Feel better soon.:wizard:

Jennifer- Safe travels to Tampa. for Kyle's "better" schedule.

Clare- Good to see you! :goodvibes

Paula- Good to see you around more often too :goodvibes

I know I missed some of you- sorry! Here's some :wizard: and 's

Glad I'm not the only one ;) :goodvibes

Sorry Matty has another ear infection. My kids are the same way when it comes to medicine. Molly sticks her tongue done down the medicine spoon to make sure she gets all of it. Quite a sight.

When I was nursing in the parks I bought a white sheet with a Mickey Print, twin sized. I cut it in half and hemmed the raw edges. This gave me 2 sheets that I used for nursing and to cover the stroller when the boys were sleeping. The white color helped reflect the sun and the sheet wasn't too hot. We had the fans blowing on them too. Since you have girls you may be able to find a pretty light colored princess sheet. Just a thought.
I thought about that today when I returned something to target

I would think for a blanket for Disney, you want something that is lightweight but not see through. I like Deb's with the fleece on one side and the cotton on the other. However, that might be too heavy. When are you going to Disney again?
Aug

Well, I started calling the insurance office at 8:30 AM. They didn't turn their phones on until nearly 9:15. I got the head guy, told him I had a problem with a bill, and he passed me on to the little girl who handled our refinance. She is all of 20 years old and I don't know if she knows what she is doing or not.

Princess was VERY well behaved and sat on her little mat unless it was her turn in the water. I was very proud of her. :)
Elizabeth  I think it might be time to change companies, Glad Princess behaved so well

I am loving all the xcrapbook pages you all have done
First, Katie came home with her report card. 7 A+'s & 1 A!!!!!!!!:cheer2:
I am so proud of her!!!!!!

The other news is (not sure if you all remember/know that I teach 3rd grade religion.) The boys in my class are rather disruptive to say the least. It has been very difficult getting them to do their lessons or even listen to a story. 2 of them just yell throughout the whole class & draw circles all over their work. One is just downright rude. :headache: After every meeting my head aches & I know the kids get nothing from it..all they want to do is go outside & play football. Then I have to sit with Daniel separately & do the whole lesson over. Well I called a mom from Daniel's school who mentioned she was doing religion next year. I asked her if she had room for Daniel & she does! So he will go to the religion class with his peers from his new school. And I will not have to yell through an entire hour lesson each week.
Can you say ..."Double bonus points!!!!!!!!!":dance3: :yay:  :worship: :upsidedow :woohoo:

I have Sophie in a class of a friend so she is taken care of. I will continue to teach the 6th grade girls who are an absolute pleasure & be able to focus on them all the more.
:cheer2: Katie, Those boys sound horrible :cheer2: on ginding a better class for Daniel

saw the chiropractor I fell a lot better.
the stroller is Baby Trend Sit-n-Stand Stroller

Lucy finally started eating cereal/fruit today. I have tried and tried to get her to eat it but all she would do was put in her mouth, shudder and then stick her tongue out with all the food just sitting there. Isn't she cute?!?

Missed you all too! I'm hanging in here.

According to the email in 4 days my luck will change. :goodvibes :wizard:
We all missed you too. Hope we see you around more. Hope Terry is feeling better soon too!

Well, Alan finally made it home at about 9:15. I warmed up his dinner, and we put the kids to bed. I spent a few minutes catching up with him, and now I'm off to bed. My headache is FINALLY gone!!! Hope it doesn't find me tomorrow!
Nice to hear Alan is safe! Hope you headache stays away!!!!!

Lindsay (or Jennifer or anyone really!) I found a free Cars pages/embellishments design yesterday and have yet to find it again. If anyone happens to see it, let me know!
If you find it again I hope you'll share the link.

Wow another new thread - took me a while to find y'all! At least the DIS is running quicker I think!

I thought I might be able to catch up but y'all are so chatty :teeth: I've enjoyed looking at everyone's photos - makes me *homesick* roll on November 09 I say! I can't believe we were lucky enough to go to FLorida twice last year - but we definitely need a year off!

Here's some of my pics from our May trip: http://www.flickr.com/photos/clareswindlehurst/sets/72157600699592507/

And some from our October trip: www.clareswindlehurst.com/storytelling - we didn't take so many pictures this time as we'd done them all in May :rotfl: I still wanted to get them printed in a hard back book though so I just made a 2007 year book - including photos from all through the year and throwing in the Disney ones - which worked out well because otherwise I never would have printed them!

Hope everyone has a Happy Tuesday
WOW!!!! :worship: Thanks for sharing!

Here's the outfit I made Leighanna out of that MM fabric.

Disneyoutfits030.jpg

Oh, and my baby is growing up! She has a loose tooth just waiting to fall out!
So cute! How exciting to have the tooth fairy coming soon!

We're doing pretty well here. Today Kyle is on call (30 hours + overnight), but it's his last 1.5 shifts on his current rotation! This has been the longest 35 days we've had in a LONG time. Next month is only slightly better (but better! I'll take it), and then he goes back to Pediatrics, where at least our days off fall on the weekends together (if and when he gets them). The last 4 months, his 3-4 days off per month are almost always during the week, which is no help at all! He's cracking me up lately. I swear about 3 times a week, he says "So when are the babies coming, I want to play with them" :)

I keep telling him he needs to exercise a little patience, and that it's still going to be QUITE a while

I have gone over a week with very little vomiting, very little Zofran use... which is thrilling. I still have ZERO energy, but we're managing. Thankfully work has slowed down a bit, although there's still a pretty large task looming over my head about figuring out a plan for when I leave. Oh, well. :)

I hope you all are doing well! I will certainly be back on, but in case I forget to say anything, I'll be in Tampa from Thursday-Sunday for meetings, with little to no free time. What the heck company makes meetings over the weekend (and without compensating anything extra for it, mind you?)

Have a great day, DDA!
Yay for the last 1.5 shift! Yay for feeling better! Safe travels with the business trip.

Bernadette - your pictures of the castle at night were awesome, I only aspire to take pictures like that one day.

So after looking at all the wonderful scrapbook pages, I thought I'd try my hand, I hesitate to post this in comparison to the others, but her goes,

You could take me with you on your trip and I'd be happy to take photos for you!

LOVE your scrapbooking!!!!

I almost got motivated...then I realized that I hadn't washed the fabric yet. I'm about to throw it in the dryer now. Colby just fell asleep on the living room floor. I guess he must have been tired :rotfl:

Oh, thanks for the reminder. I forgot that step! :lmao: I guess I better get mine in the washer. I just got up from my 2 hour nap. I won't be sewing tonight.
