DDA Chapter 3

Wow! You all have been extra chatty today!

Elin, fantastic pics! Loved the DL ones! We really need to make a trip out to DL soon!

Bernadette, thanks for posting the Disney PhotoPass pictures! Yours and Robyns are great! The girls looked so cute in my SSP!

Yes, you do Tom! If you decide to do it, I'll move heaven and earth to get my family down there at the same time! I just know that my twins would love Leighanna! They would love to show her around "their" DL!

The experiment with removing the long threads surprised even us! As you can see the boards are flying and there were no other changes made. Because of that we need to find a way to deal with this issue. We want to see what happens on Monday, which traditionally is our busiest day of the week.

I want to assure everyone that we will be bringing back the posts in those threads, we just need to work out the best way to do that and keep the performance of the boards where it is now.

In the mean time please feel free to start a new thread.

Alex

Good Luck. I was a regular Coke fanatic and switch to diet Dr Pepper. I like diet Pepsi better than diet coke.

Alan has become addicted to Chocolate Cherry Diet Dr. Pepper. It's a limited edition and I don't know how long it's going to be around, so he's stockpiling!:rotfl:

Believe me Glynis, there would be nothing better than to have you and your family as our "personal tour guides"!

When is the best time to go? As far as crowds and such?

Thanks for lifting my spirits tonight, guys! I really needed an escape!

It was another rough day around here. To make a long story short, I have been off-and-on working/fighting with Sprint over the past few days re: a BlackBerry I ordered from them that doesn't work right - to the tune of almost 7 hours, and even more people, over the phone. I finally talked to a helpful person Thursday night, and after also talking to one of their IT specialists on Friday, both recommended that I exchange the phone at one of their stores, as it's obvious that I have a lemon on my hands. So, imagine my surprise when I arrive at the Sprint store today, and the snippy little teenager tells me that I need some sort of authorization e-mail to do this, and no, she can't be bothered to call customer service and see the very long-documented history of my past week with this phone! Let's just say that I hit the roof. It was not my finest hour, and I can now honestly see how sometimes people can do bodily harm to one another.

Fortunately, I promptly got myself out of that store and came home to beat up my bedroom pillows. I think I scared Jonathan. :scared: I have never been so mad in my life. He called Sprint for me, and I have to wait until Monday for this stupid e-mail. :headache: I would love to tell them to just shove it, but we renewed our contracts when upgrading to these phones, and of course, Jonathan's works perfectly. I would still think of just ditching Sprint and going to AT&T for the iPhone, but my work doesn't support adding my e-mail to any device that isn't BlackBerry. :headache:

Long story short - if you ever consider changing cell phone companies - DO NOT GO WITH SPRINT!!!!!!!!! I never had a problem with them in the 8 years up until now, but this is just tortuous.

I think I'm going to head to bed, and hope for a much better day tomorrow. I've been exhausted most of the day after my little "outing" this morning - felt like I had quite a workout!

Chuck had some issues with his blackberry when he got it. Our plan is with Alltel. It didn't turn out to be a lemon but he was frustrated with the service. I'm sorry to hear you are having even more serious issues with yours. pixiedust: that all is fixed on Monday.

Great pictures Elin!

Love the pics!! But I must say that even with such incredible pics I am just an all-out Florida girl. Don't know if we will ever do DL. I don't like to venture out of my comfort zone.

Elizabeth, I got the pins today. Thanks again.

That took longer than I expected! Glad they finally arrived! :thumbsup2

Not sure yet. I may stay at the Grand Californian if I can get a good enough rate -- I have a pretty good budget since this is business.

I've stayed at that Marriott when we went to a scrapbooking convention when Mom first opened her shop. It was so convenient to the convention center. They had great chocolate martini's...

Have fun planning!
I'm glad the boys both had 2nd place finishes!

Elizabeth, looks like I will need to drop out of your psychic club. I have yet to get a feeling on Jennifer, Amy, or my cousin as for what gender babies they are having.

Its really strange too, because I have always gotten a feeling with all others.

Eh, I haven't had any psychic moments myself lately. Maybe we'll just take a little break. ;)

You're very welcome, I'm knocking on wood as I type this, but I have actually felt better today. I have poured several soft drinks down the drain trying to find a diet one that I can stand, I think the winner will be diet Sunkist. Crystal light isn't that bad either, I am a Dr. Pepper-a-holic, so giving that up is a big hurdle, but a necessary one. I have tried diet Dr. Pepper and it just won't do.

My oldest DD is coming over tomorrow and I plan on sending her home with some groceries, DH said we needed to throw them out, but that would be a waste.

Debbie, I can not stand diet drinks, but I am trying to get away from high fructose corn syrup. What I have found is this: 2 liters, cans, and fountain drinks taste different even if they are the same flavor. Soda poured from a can over ice tastes different than soda directly from the can. Diet cherry vanilla Dr. Pepper from a can in a glass over ice is NOT that bad. I can tolerate Diet Coke directly out of the can but I don't love it. And Lindsay is right about diet root beer - it isn't that bad. Good luck finding one you can deal with! :wizard:

Elizabeth, Jen is the youngest at 21?

I see she answered that she is 23, which still doesn't make Kristine TRULY old enough to be her mother. ;)

I didn't get as much accomplished today as I hoped. I am afraid I'm coming down with what Chuck has. He is miserable. He can't get warm, his throat is sore, etc. I ended up laying down for a nap with him and I slept for 2-1/2 hours. I hope it doesn't get any worse.

Feel better soon, Vicki! And Chuck, too! :wizard:

I am having trouble getting used to Windows Vista...it seems so different to me...I keep having to trouble shoot little glitches

I have Vista, but I don't know anything about it since I only use the computer for internet and e-mail. :confused3

I can't seem to remember what I even did for my 30th bday...

I went to Macaroni Grill with DH and a bunch of friends. It was fun. I LIKE birthdays. I'm not bothered by getting older. :confused3

I wonder why they don't decorate iasw in WDW for Christmas. :confused3

I wondered that, too.

They were some really nice pictures! I enjoyed the extra pictures from Tusker House. I still think Elizabeth's DH looks like the cowardly lion with the mane of hair behind him. :lmao:

Shhh! He gets mad if I mention that! :rotfl2:
I did get my CD today, but DH just brought the mail in as we were leaving for dinner so I haven't even opened it yet. :)

Mom is almost done ripping CD's. I love her but she can wear me out. She is so worried about my sister and the kids that she goes on & on about it. My sister & the kids can use some pixiedust and prayers. I can't go into details but they are dealing with some very tough stuff right now.

I will be learning how to rip from CDs later this week. We're holding the iPod to give to DS on Wednesday.
Lots of :wizard: for your sister, and  to you while you listen to your mom fuss about them!

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: You got it, Vicki.

I just got done looking at Robyn's photopass pictures. They are sooooo cute! Lucy looks like such a happy baby.

I need to go back and look at all the pics!

I love the Strawberry Soup at 1900 Park Fare. I think it is the first time I've tried it. It was fantastic. One of the reasons that I want to go back there. We have dinner reservations there on March 4.

I really like that soup, too! Let me know how you like the dinner overall. Some of the reviews have been pretty harsh!

We had a really nice evening with the boys! :) They all got along great and were very well behaved. We picked up one friend (he just lives across the way so it takes about 5 minutes to go get him) and the other 2 met us at the mall. TGI Fridays was fun. Really, really good service, OK food. The fried green beans were REALLY good. I can see those becoming an addiction for me. The boys liked it, so I think it was a good choice. All 4 of them ordered from the kids menu, which shocked me! We told them to order whatever they wanted. 2 of them skipped dessert! DH took them all to the restroom while I paid the bill, then we went to the movie. We bought the tickets before dinner, but we were running a bit later than I planned so the only row with 6 seats together was the VERY front. Not my favorite place to sit, but it was OK. I liked the movie! The boys all said they liked it, too. DH even stayed awake for the whole thing! (I am irritated that he stayed up so late since he has to work tomorrow, but he insisted.) So it went very well and everybody had a good time. :) I am really glad I encouraged DS to ask a few of his friends to come instead of just one. More like a party. :yay:

Believe me Glynis, there would be nothing better than to have you and your family as our "personal tour guides"!

When is the best time to go? As far as crowds and such?

We've found that the crowds are really low just after Labor Day. All the California schools are back in session, and it's not too hot. We've also gone in April, but it does tend to get a bit crowded depending on the time. It all depends on how you feel about Leighanna missing school. For myself and my family, we feel like family memories are just as important as school, so we don't mind pulling our kids out of school for 4 or 5 days. This last time, we went the first week in June, and temperature wise it was perfect! We also found that it was not too crowded early in the day, but the crowds grew in the afternoon, as schools took their end of year trips there.

Really, though, unless you are going around a holiday, the park is so doable at any time!

Well, Miss Utah was eliminated, so I'm off to bed!

See you all tomorrow. We've got church in the morning, but I should be on in the afternoon!

Lindsay - That sounds about like the fight I had with AT&T with that stupid LG phone. The battery wouldn't hold a charge for more than a few hours. They told me to get a new battery for it, it was under warranty. They didn't carry the batteries. They couldn't order the battery. They couldn't even FIND the battery. They couldn't transfer my service back over to my old phone handset thing. They couldn't figure out WHAT to do. I also had one of those episodes where I nearly took the head off of a snippy little rep at a Cingular store. I FINALLY got them to authorize an upgrade so I could replace the phone. The only ones they had were $149. We went to Radio Shack to get another phone because they had some that were free with just the $18 activation fee. They couldn't find any record of an authorization for me to upgrade.:headache:  It was soooo frustrating! I spent lots of hours on lots of days going round and round with them.

I hope you get it settled once and for all on Monday! :wizard:

You fireworks photos are amazing:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks, Deb. It took quite a while for me to find a setting on my "new" camera that works well with fireworks. I just have never liked the looks of the pictures taken with the fireworks setting! But I have one called "high sensitivity" that seems to fit the bill for those as well as low-light situations where a flash ruins the look of the picture.

Hello DDA
All is well in our house and everyone seems to be healthy again.
Tomorrow Mark and Ellie are modeling in a bridal show (hope to get pics) and then we have a fun filled week of normal stuff.

I worked Bingo tonight again and I so can't wait for them to pay me (the singing teacher). I get $10.00 per hour tax free and it goes straight to Ellie's Hollywood fund ( it never touches my hands because it goes direct to the teacher). I am at about $400.00 as of now. But Mark is going TDY for 3 weeks soon and that takes me out of a few days. I might ask my mom to come down so I can work a night or two while he is gone.

I should let you all know I have had a glass (plus, plus) of wine while typing this, so it could get (or may have already gotten) messy in the spelling area. ;)

If any of you feel like making a little trip out to Californ-I-A to work a night of Bingo with me.... I can put you up on the couch for the night, no problem-o.

So did I tell you all my step grandmother (Nana) died the other day? It was rather wild. (I know I am full of strange shtuff) My mom married this man when I was about two-ish (Ken) and a few yrs later my brother came along (like you care). And who... (oh, my bio dad lives in PA and his name is Paul (again like you care) no I don't talk with him much either) What was I typing?
Oh, so step dad Ken is married to mom for about 10 yrs give or take and bam they brake up. Blah blah blah. Well nana was always nice to us, my grandpa (step) was even better, I miss him. Did I tell you all I didn't know my bio fathers parents at all? Again with the blah blah blah crap.......
Back to the stinkin story. Over the years I have sent cards and stuff to nana, well this Christmas ken (step dude) calls and says Nana has cancer of the brain and she wont last long (dammmmm light just turned off on my while typing an my nose iches). Blah blah blah more drama. So I call her up one day and get to talk with her. She was able to speak to me a bit. I passed on my love and thanks for treating me like her own. She passed on her love for me as well and told me I was her granddaughter. (where in the world am I going with this?) Well she passed the other day and I feel like pluto poop for not calling back to talk with her one more time. I do however think her came by and tinged on my chandelier the day she passed.

I think I best be getting off to bed, because I am going on like a flippin river about blah blah blah.

If all else fails I do hope this was a bit of fun to read. Love, joy, blah blah blah (word of the post... blah :lmao: )

night all and hope all is well in your homes this weekend.

I'm so loving your pictures!!! Brings back wonderful memories. I love Space Mountain! Since the remodel, it's become one of my favorite rides! It's just amazing. Yes, you need to try California Screamin'! It's positively the best roller coaster in the world!!!

I'm so thrilled that you got to see Aladdin. What did you think of it? We love the show. My kids think it's great! They love the parade scene, and all the Genie stuff! Fabulous!

I WANT TO GO BACK NOW!!!

I had seen Aladdin in August and insisted that we take the time to go see it this trip. I knew they would all love it. Maureen (Patrick's Mom) knows the young man who initiated the Aladdin role in the show. (He sang at their wedding.) So she was all set to see it. It is like a mini-Broadway show!!

Elin, fantastic pics! Loved the DL ones! We really need to make a trip out to DL soon!

Bernadette, thanks for posting the Disney PhotoPass pictures! Yours and Robyns are great! The girls looked so cute in my SSP!

Thanks, Tom! How's Leighanna?

Elin - what great DL photos! I remember seeing the Remember...Dreams Come True fireworks for the first time and was  at all Tink could do. Jonathan was cracking up because I kept saying "Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh!" :rotfl: I'm glad you had a nice trip.

Thanks, Lindsay. I cannot imagine how heavy that Tink costume and jet pack must be!

Lindsay - I just can't see you getting that mad! I hope they rectify your situation pronto on Monday.

Elizabeth - I am glad you and DS's friends had a good time tonight! Your DH will catch up on his sleep, I am sure. You ought to consider one trip to DL and DCA. It wouldn't need to be a long one!
