DDA Chapter 3

I was talking to another mom at ballet tonight. She has a 16yo dd who got in trouble over something. The car, the computer (except for homework), the tv, the video games, etc etc. were taken away from her for 2 months! Mom and Dad were very angry when they doled out the punishment and now fear they have been too harsh. But they can't go back, because what is that going to tell the dd? So they have come up with a work list.....things she can do around the house. If she does something on the list, she gets a day taken off her punishment. Kinda like time off for good behavior. I thought it was very creative. I love hearing how other parents handle things.

That is a great idea. I was trying to be careful when I doled out the punishment as I was very angry and could have gotten carried away. While there is only a week left in the month he did complete everything and he pulled straight A's on his report card. Besides if I made the punishment too long it would just punish me in the long run as I would have to find things to occupy his time.

I have a list of things that he can do around the house, but that won't give him a shorter sentence, it will just stop him from complaining to me that he is bored

your right....he's also younger than Cassidy was on her last punishment.....and he actually finished his project.

I hear you on this one Deb. Matt is an only child and if he's punished - then I'm punished. Play dates for him are a break for me so I'm very careful NOT to take them away if I don't have to.

Hi guys! Would you believe that we've all been sick? I hear that's going around here and it hit us too. I think we were all on Paula's diet early in the week and then I got a really bad case of bronchitis. 24 hours on the medicine and I feel much better!

That's what the mom said! She is now being punished because the DD works at Target, and without driving privileges, mom is stuck driving her back and forth to work.

so the girl ears are clear and their lungs are clear.

but since Olivia had a little bit of wheezing in Oct. and then a lot with this cold/bronchitis she had this past month the dr wants to put her on preventive astma meds twice a day breathing treatments till may.


and now headed to bed so I can work tomorrow
