DDA Chapter 3

Denise, I'm so sorry you had to cancel your trip again! :sad1: :grouphug: I hope you all are feeling better soon.

Check out this thread

It has some helpful weight loss tips that I thought were pretty useful :thumbsup2

Robyn, I almost linked everyone to that thread too. :rotfl: I also almost posted about my need to crush potato chips into little bits, but the CB intimidates me a little. :rotfl:

Elizabeth, congrats to C!

Welcome home Jen! How was Tampa?

Congrats on your new job, Karen!

Glynis, the sweet and savory ribs were a hit (though Kevin did comment they could be a little sweeter...nothing is ever sweet enough for him, not even me ;) ). Matthew gobbled them up, and even Alyssa cleaned her plate, though she had to be bribed with our long-awaited ice cream trip. ;)

So, off we go. Hope everyone is having a great night! :)

I couldn't stop laughing :rotfl2:

Glad the ribs were a hit! Enjoy the ice cream outing. :goodvibes

Cassidy will turn 16 and Abi will turn 12 on May 14th:sad2:

We got such a good deal on the necklace I couldn't pass it up. (I can't imagine paying the original price for it  )

My youngest brother and his wife were both born on May 14th.

Katrina and I will probably do some scrapbooking this week-end. She is getting her last three wisdom teeth pulled on Friday morning. She had the first one pulled over two years ago. She was supposed to have all four pulled at the time. She requested not being put out and the first one took forever! It took longer to do the one than it was supposed to for all four. She was miserable. She has been putting off having the other three done because of it. This time she has decided she wants to be put out. Becky had hers done at the same time two years ago and was put out. Katrina was miserable and it didn't help that Becky was eating potato chips a day or two later and she couldn't eat for almost a week.

I hope she is feeling better! My wisdom teeth were surprisingly easy to recover from (even with having a lot of difficulty getting them out (breaking them up, etc). I've had other extractions though (about 12 adult and several primary) .... some of them can really throw you for a loop! I'm glad she decided to get put out of the rest this time!

The funny (or sad) thing is Katrina asked why Becky is having all these tests. When she found out it was because Becky gets lightheaded when she stands up, she said she has the same thing all the time and just thought it was normal. I also had the same thing when I was their age. I don't think it is really anything to worry about but Becky has to be feeling perfect or she wants to see the doctor. I'm really not too worried about it. Does that make me a bad mother?

Not at all :)

Here is my latest creation that I have been playing with for the last 45 minutes. It needs work, but I'm learning at least.

Good night everyone.

Looks great!

Still no DVC planner for the Meyer family. However, I got my official DVC membership cards. :woohoo: I feel so special! :lmao:

I just got mine yesterday (well, Saturday).... and I also found out we were supposed to get a Christmas card! I wasn't too worried about the planner since we aren't going any time soon, but I was really bummed about the card! :)

Kristine (and Terry), we stayed in a Cat. 6 on the Wonder in December, and have the exact same stateroom booked for the 4-night over Labor Day.

Now, this was my 1st cruise so I don't have much of a point of reference, but we thought it was great! :thumbsup2 The thing that impressed me the most was that there was lots of storage (and we had a ton of stuff since we were packed for 2 weeks! :scared: ). The closet is a really nice size, and there is the storage locker, tons of drawers, cabinets, etc. We fully unpacked all our cruise stuff (the box we shipped, too!), and lifted up the bed and slid our suitcases underneath.

The split bathroom was also great - a little small, sure, but it was nice to have separate areas to get ready, since it seems we were always racing to the next thing. I heard a ton before going about needing an over-the-door shoe organizer to hold your bathroom stuff, but I found I didn't need it. There is ample storage space under both sinks (although not enclosed), and the bathroom with the toilet had an additional shelving unit. I unpacked all my toiletries with room to spare!

We loved our location too - we were midship, just slightly aft of the mid-ship elevators and stairs on deck 6. IMO, a perfect location, as we primarily used the stairs to get anywhere, since we only had a few floors to go in either direction. We were right over the stabilizers, too - we could see them in the water below us when we were moving at night. The verandah was great to have, as well. :cloud9:

Overall, the cabin really impressed me. :thumbsup2 We took a lot of pics of it, and I will post some soon, so you can see them (particularly of the storage so you get an idea). There are a lot of great pics here on the DIS, too, and they're pretty darn accurate! Suffice it to say, I had much more storage space in my little DCL cabin than I did in the master bedroom of our SSR GV! :headache:

The one thing we didn't have which I would caution you to bring - an extension cord, as well as a power strip. There are only 2 plugs in the entire cabin (not even in the bathroom!), and they are located by the vanity/desk. I wanted to bring a power strip (knowing there were so few plugs), but Jonathan insisted on bringing this wall thing we have with multiple plugs on a face. His thought was it took up less space - but because of its bulkiness and the way the plugs are situated on the wall, we were not able to use it. Needless to say, we'll be bringing the power strip and an extension cord next time! :rolleyes1 ;)

I didn't realize you were cruising again this year... congratulations! :goodvibes

I am sooooooooready for kick-off :happytv:

Yeah, sorry about that outcome.. :rolleyes1 (I'm not really saying that all that smug. I desperately wanted both teams to lose! ;) :rotfl: )

I'm obviously home! I came back to work in total disarray, and ended up working not a shortened day as promised, but about 12 hours instead. Blech! I'm so incredibly burnt out. Oh, well. I'm back on about 110, even after catching up some... I'll be awhile. I hope you all are doing well! :goodvibes

Sorry Chris!

Sorry Chris!

Poor Chris.

Sorry Chris-I was very glad it was a great game!

Sorry Chris--i knwo you arent happy !

Im off to bed--we went to a small local bar for the superbowl with the firemen--great night! i didnt have to drive (or pay) so dad bought me afewdrinks...it was fun because we were with all giants fans, so everytime something good happened , they bought more drinks/shots

so on that note--im headed to bed

Chris- Sorry :sad2: My cousins all feel the same way.'s

Sorry Chris, I was sad that the Patriots did not win.

My condolences to Chris! There are a lot of happy people in this area today, though. I don't really care about football at all (sorry!), so I didn't even know until this morning.

Thank you all :)
I really don't like the Giants now. They beat my two favorite teams in the playoffs.
Tampa in the wild-card game and the Pats in the super-bowl :headache:

Latest attempt! I don't like the circle - it looks like I have a shadow on the photo and there isn't one. Maybe I didn't make the picture big enough...
ETA: Yep, that's what I did. And one of the filmstrip pictures isn't large enough either...I need to use zoom more often!!!

Jennifer - I'm assuming that with that one tutorial site you gave us yesterday - where you can make your own post it note - that those are the techniques that I'd use to make a page edge "curl" and show the reverse side of the paper?

ETA: Janet - the paint bucket is the same tab as the gradiant tool. :teeth:

They definitely have the page curling on that site, as well as others. Your pages look great!

Everyone's being so crafty lately! Very impressive. :thumbsup2

I like the use of the filmstrip Chanon. We used that as one of the reoccurring themes in a yearbook one year. I couldn't help but notice rehearsal is spelled wrong though. One of the advantages of digital scrapbooking...an easy fix! :)

All this talk of teeth brings back bad memories for me! My baby teeth were very slow to fall out, so my orthodontist was always ordering extractions. I had 16 of them pulled! My eye teeth came in so high, it looked like I had fangs. Then (believe it or not ;) ) he said my mouth was too small, so I had to have four permanent molars pulled and my wisdom teeth dug out, too.

So, I only have 24 permanent teeth, but after a couple years of braces, I wasn't so self-conscious about smiling anymore! :teeth:

Amy, I could have written this! I too had fangs, and a mouth too small -- apparently it's always us chatty ones :confused3 :rotfl: I have 22 adult teeth now. Unfortunately, my wisdom teeth made their attempt at coming in after my braces days, so I feel like I could use them again, at least to push the top back a bit. Someday!

You all pity my children, don't you?!! :rotfl: I work on spelling, not control with scissors in my household. :rotfl:

Yes, but does Alyssa share well with others? Run with scissors?

That's the only draw for me.

I see you are going to WDW in the summer! Yay! :goodvibes

Beth and Deb, great pictures of your kiddos! :goodvibes

Nicholas has decided on a science fair project. He is going to test how well disinfectants work. He will grow bacteria on a dirty cutting board, clean different areas with different cleaners and then culture the swabs in petri dishes. I think it will be quite interesting, and SIMPLE!

I'm a self admitted microbiology nerd, but I think that sounds like a fantastic project! :thumbsup2

Nick had his awards ceremony this morning and he did receive High Honors.

I know that I am prejudiced, but I really think that Nick is the most handsome guy in the whole 6th grade. It really struck me today as I watched all the other kids getting there awards. I can see him being a real heart breaker in a couple of years :flower3:

ETA: The eyes don't do him justice

Congratulations to Nick! I did crack up though about your comment on his eyes in that photo! ;)

That wouldn't be bad - definitely go toward the aft of the ship before you go forward! Are you getting two cabins? If not, I probably woudn't want one with a connecting door...

And like Chanon said, we backed into Castaway Cay, so we faced the beaches. We also backed into Nassau, too, so we were overlooking the water, vs. the port. It's my understanding, though, that they can go in either way, though, so it's not guaranteed that you'll get one view over the other. We never heard any noise in our cabin.

It took me a minute to realize you left out the "k" Janet, and I was wondering why you wanted to boo CP?!?! :rotfl: :rotfl:

It's a Friday for sure!

Love them!

I liked your new page, too, Chanon!

Well, you have a great smile, so it all seems to have been worth it! :thumbsup2

Great job! :thumbsup2 And the model ain't half bad, either! ;)

I'm sure it's probably already over, but I hope this appt. went much better for Katrina than her last one! :wizard:

We pulled forward into CC, so I agree that a decision should not be made based on this particular view!

I lurk on the CB and I post if it isn't going to result in raging flames. (Mostly the CB folks ignore me, which is fine.) I saw that thread, and I actually read through most of it!:scared: I am still not quite sure what to make of it!
I am thinking if people dig food out of the trash they have some sort of compulsion that is kin to an eating disorder. :scared1: I can honestly say I have never thrown ANYTHING in the trash and then gotten it back out to eat it later. Gross!
When I first became a nanny the other girls said I would get heavy from eating the food the kids left on their plates. I never eat the leftovers from the kids plates! Not even DS's plate! If I was going to have a bad habit I think I would pick up that one before I progressed to digging food out of the trash!
I am actually very weird about my food - the foods on the plate can't touch and all that sort of thing. I just don't see pulling food out of the trash being an option for me, even without the Windex. ;)

Colgate is sponsoring a new play area for one CHOA hospital, and I would love you to vote. Many of you know- CHOA is a very special place in our hearts since Rees has spent many weeks/months of his life in and out of CHOA. Click on this link

-Then click on Atlanta and find Children’s Hospital of Atlanta at Hugh Spalding! This is latest hospital to be added to CHOA and could really use some new equipment. I think this is awesome that Colgate is doing this. Trust me- you never know when you might need CHOA! We want to give our kids the best.

So I haven't been sewing but I have been working on some other things recently.

I'm a lurker too! Not brave enough to set foot in those waters.

I could never eat what the kids left on their plates. That just totally skeeves me out. I've seen where their hands have been. I can't even eat off of my own kids plates. Now my food can touch. My sister won't let her food touch and eats all of one thing and then moves onto the next.

I prefer my food not to touch but am getting better as the years go by. I have even been known to order the mashed potato bowl at KFC.

I don't eat off my kids plates either. Yuck! I will share with Chuck. I really didn't like sharing a glass with them though when they were little, I got used to that.
