Merry Christmas to all of my dear DDa friends!!!!!:love:

For those of you on facebook, I don't know if you can see any of the posts between my daughter Guenna's and me but she is expecting June 23 but last night had to spend the night in the hospital, but is allowed to come home today. She has Placenta Migration and is on bed rest until she sees the Dr this week. After four miscarriages I really didn't want to announce she was expecting until we knew things were okay. I have to look at the silver lining in all of this. Since I am not working but still getting unemployment, I will be able to help her a lot. My youngest son Steve and his wife Michelle are also expecting in July so next year will be a busy one for us. If they are still in Florida, I will fly down to see the baby, but if Steve is able to get a construction job up here, then they will be here for the birth. Construction job pay up here is way, way better than down in Fla.

Hal and I are escaping Pa to go down to our friends in West Virginia tomorrow, Guenna doesn't want me to worry (but I will) and we will be home Thursday. They still have dial up, so I will not have a computer!!!

Everyone have a grand day today!!!!!

 I hope everything is okay with Guenna. :wizard: Sounds like you are going to have a busy year. Enjoy your time in WV!

Thanks! It was! I'm thinking about doing a trip report here, but between this and FB, I'm figuring people are getting tired of hearing about it!

Never! I love hearing about it! And I love your pics on FB.

Terry - I will be adding Guenna to my prayers. Enjoy your time with your friends!

Christmas has been pretty good! We woke up early (thank you, Timothy!) and were done opening presents by 9 a.m. We then cleaned up, ate a little breakfast, and just relaxed. My sister and her family came over early afternoon for leftover ham sandwiches and finger foods. Dad left with them about an hour ago, so he could see their Christmas treasures. We are chilling here at home, and trying to get our second wind.

We are supposed to be going to my sister's house in about 2 hours for soup and finger foods. I'm exhausted, and know that I will sleep well tonight!

I hope that everyone has had a nice day! We certainly have!!!

Tammi we live vicariously through trip reports. How else would we escape these long cold winters?

We had a really nice Christmas. The kids loved the presents that we chose for them. Colby couldn't believe that he actually got a minibike :rotfl2: I was blown away by the fact that Chris went out shopping which is against everything he believes in :lmao: He bought me some really beautiful and thoughtful gifts. I got a coffee mug for work (he wanted tinkerbell, but couldn't find one). He bought me purple: earrings, scarf, heated throw, bathrobe, pjs, slippers, socks, turtleneck and purse. Tinkerbell: throw, christmas decoration and animated statue. I was so surprised to find things under the tree that I didn't know about. Colby also made me some nice things at school ;)

Merry Chirstmas!

Tammi-would love to hear about your trip!

Terry-prayers for your DD.

Jennifer-hope you're doing better and all get to go home soon.:wizard:

We had a very nice Christmas. Just the 5 of us most of the day and then my sister and her DS (22 years old) came around 4:30 for a few hours. The kids loved all their presents-especially all the wii stuff. Santa brought new remotes but I need to buy more numchucks-we only have 1. We played Disney Think Fast-Santa got it for $10 from the Disney Movie Club. That was fun. The kids are having lots of fun with Sports Resort. Lizzy is loving her DSi. I thought her "pile" looked a bit shy comared to Joe & Emma but she was thrilled with her DSi and a few other small things she got like the coin counting money jar and Aeropostale perfume. Joe & his cousin were having fun with his night vision goggles.

DH & Joe are going to church this morning so Joe can help out with the video cameras. I'm hoping to rest most of the day. My foot is pretty sore from over doing it. The snow has already started here-excepted to be a blizard tonight. They still aren't quite sure where the rain/snow line will be. The kids are hoping for lots of snow but I'm hoping for a lot less with my foot. I would really like to make it to my docotor's appointment at 2pm tomorrow. I'm hoping I can convince him to take the pin out. It would be just one day earlier than he did last time.

Good Morning I lounged in bed this morning. Too many chores on the list to motivate me to get out of bed :rolleyes1 We have a blizzard coming tonight, just another thing to look forward too. I guess I'd better hit the chore list. first up, budget and paying bills:headache:

Terry - We'll be praying for Guenna.

Bernadette - Hope your foot is feeling better. Hope your snow isn't too deep!

Deb - Yeah for some Christmas surprises! Hope you don't get hit too badly either.

Glynis - Sounds like a good Christmas!

We were up around 8:45 for stockings. A nice change that benefitted us with the decision to do Christmas morning separately. Kristi's kids were up by 6:45 at their house. We had brunch around 10:45 and then got to presents. Dinner at 4 and a nice nap (my 2nd if the day actuallly ;) ) for me. Today we're just hanging out and eating leftovers.

Terra isd thrilled with her DS. It doesn't matter to her in the least that it's an older model. She's been playing it all morning and we're going to exchange a dupilicate game in a little bit.

I got the best present though - (well, in my opinion) - enough gift card money to put a deposit on our trip for next year!! I'm going to call this week and make the reservation. Terra also got a gift card plus $50 in Disney dollars so we're getting there slowly at least.

Yeah for the trip deposit. That's very exciting:goodvibes

My mother gave each of us $20 to start saving for our Hawaii Trip.

Tia-yay for booking a trip!!!:cool1:

We lost our electricity for a few hours tonight but it is back now. The wind is howling out there.

Just got a phone call that my office is called tomorrow. It seems like mostly rain here but we are right on the coast and according to the weather reports it is snow in the rest of our town. I'm hoping the roads will be clear for my 2pm doctor's appointment. I also need to see if my dentist will see me to put my front crown back on-I still think it was the endodontist that made that one loose. I'm hoping he'll have some cancelations and be able to get me in-hopefully be able to get me in around my doctor's appointment.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

Sounds like you all had good Christmases.

Took a while, but we made it home. Kathrin's flight to Boston was canceled but she was able to get on an earlier flight. They plowed out the runway for her plane and closed Logan after they landed. Our flight only had a 40 minute delay and the drive home was only windy and a little icy. Got home about 2:00 this morning and I got up at 7:30 to drive Kristin to work. Her apartment is on a hill and I was afraid it would be very slick so I surprised her with a ride in a warm car instead of a stroll in 40 mile an hour winds on snow and ice-covered sidewalks! :teeth:

We had a good time. Not long enough for me, but I think the other 3 were ready to come home. We loved AKL CL and it will be hard to stay anywhere else, I am afraid. It was spectacular. The CMs in the lounge were so friendly and helpful and made for a very relaxing two days there. POFQ is still one of my favorite resorts. We didn't get a refurbed room there, but we love the convenience of that little resort.

Glad you all made it home safely! I'm not sure a trip's ever long enough for me, either. I'm glad that you all had a nice time. :cloud9:

Good morning.

Welcome home, Elin.

Tia - yay for the trip!

Bernadette - I hope you can make it to your appt., and that you get the pin out!

We really dodged the bullet with the snow storm. Only a dusting here, but we do have the horrible winds. Think I'll stay inside today.

It seems that I'm coming down with the post-trip sinus infection. I swear that everyone gets sick because of that canned air on the plane.

Ditto on your quote!

Tammi, I agree about the air on the plane. When I went in December I lost my voice for the whole trip..sounded like Racheal Ray. Hope you feel better. :wizard:

Since I'm not working today and tomorrow, and I'm trying to avoid housework, I thought I would start my trip report.

Day 1 - Departure and Universal Studios

While the kids were in school I spent the day packing. I'm happy to say that the only thing that I forgot was our Hidden Mickey book. It would have been nice to have, but not something that I couldn't live without. I got the car loaded and had about a half hour to relax before I needed to pick up the kids. After school I took Alyssa to tap class and then we stopped for dinner before our hour drive to Richmond where we would stay at the Wyndam (thanks, Chanon!), as we had a 7AM flight. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. I made the kids wait in the hallway with the luggage while I striped the corners of the beds and checked for bugs. After dealing with lice a few years ago, I'm paranoid of bringing anything home from hotels. After the all clear, we settled in, the kids showered, and I tried to get them to sleep at a decent hour since we had an early morning followed by a long day. They both decided that they wanted to keep a journal of the trip, so every evening they would write the events of the day.

Our flight took a small detour, as there was a woman on the plane who was having a medical issue. She was about 5 or 6 rows up and across the aisle from me, so I kept an eye on what was going on. She was always conscious and sitting up in her seat, but they brought her oxygen and asked if there was a doctor or nurse on board. To my surprise there was not one on the plane. I knew as soon as I saw all this going on that we would have an unscheduled landing. Eventually the pilot announced we would be stopping in Charlotte, SC to get her medical attention. I don't know what the outcome was but I hope everything was okay. The medics were on the runway to meet the plane and after about an hour we were back in the air. The rest of the flight was uneventful. We landed at MCO, got our bags and car, and were on our way to Universal. The kids still did not know, but I could tell that Nicholas sensed a different area. As we were getting closer I asked if they wanted to have their Christmas present now. Nicholas spotted a Seaworld sign and exclaimed "Are we going to Seaworld?!" No. But how about Universal?!?! He was so excited, but with all the talk about Universal Alyssa thought it was only Harry Potter stuff and she couldn't have cared less. After Nicholas and I explained that it was much more than just that, she was excited as well. So we checked in at Hard Rock Hotel, and without even going to the room we headed to US. I found that if I parked at the end of the hotel parking lot it was just a short walk to the entrance of the park.

We immediately jumped in line for Shrek, which was a short wait. Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket was next. I was surprised to find that we all chose the same song to listen to while riding, Kenny Chesney's Living in Fast Forward. I guess the apples don't fall far from the tree. From there we went to Twister, Mummy and Disaster. I'll try to explain this as briefly as possible. Disaster's premise is that they pick several people from the queue area to star in a movie trailer. First they take the chosen people onto a stage where they film them doing their part, with the rest of the crowd watching. Then after that they put everyone onto a tram that takes you through the ride and they are filming everyone going through the city's "disaster". Once all the film "clips" are editied together they show the movie trailer that they made. (if this isn't clear and you want to know more, I'm sure you can find it on youtube). Anyway, as will be a trend for this trip, Alyssa was chosen to be one of the cast. She was filmed "laying on a street". Or is it "lying"?

then "fighting", think HI-YA, karate style

The chosen cast:

P1080184.jpg

So technically that was her "acting debut". She loved it!

From there we went to Jaws, which I thought was pretty lame, Men In Black, and the Simpsons, and ET.

The kids played in the Curious George area for awhile.

We watched some of the Macy's parade for awhile before heading back to the hotel.

As we were waiting for the elevator in the hotel, Scooby walked up behind us, which was kind of startling. We had our own private meet and great.

P1080223.jpg

After the second bed inspection, the kids and the luggage were allowed in the room. We went for a walk to look around the hotel before heading to bed.

Thoughts of the day.....

Shrek, MIB and the Simpsons....all motion simulators. Same priciple...a lot shaking and screaming. I couldn't understand what was being said/yelled. The Mummy was cool, the roller coaster was great, Twister and Jaws were eh.

Tomorrow, Island of Adventure and Harry Potter.
