Somehow I knew that you all would understand our decision to go! Since I took my boss to WDW last spring, she was the first one to jump in and say, "You have to go anyway!" She gets it too! :goodvibes

Of course you should go, while you are there you can leave your worries behind and enjoy the holiday.

evening everyone. we had to buy a new washer and dryer today. got a good deal at home depot.

Just stopping by to say hello. I've had a long but good day. It is nice to see that Elin and family are still planning to go to WDW. Can't blame you, I would go too.

Jen sorry about your computer. I don't think there is any worse company to contact than HP. I always end up with someone in India or somewhere overseas with the strong accent. I've never had a pleasant experience with them.

My first confirmed sale came through today :cool1: Apparently it was the quickest sale for a new hire on company record. I'm just happy to see that things are going as they should. They also had a contest at work. They wanted to encourage employees to submit questions to be answered in the company wide meeting today. Everyone got to vote for their favorites and the top 5 vote getters got a prize. I made 4th place and won a $25 gas card. It was certainly a good day.

I feel your pain. Did you get a front loader? Our new machines are so much more efficient than the old ones. The washer takes longer to wash, but everything dries so much quicker.

no we got a top loader. it was on sale as was the dryer

Good Morning

Congrats Deb

My daughters and I went shopping for a wedding dress yesterday, we didn't make a purchase but she found one that she will prbably go back and order, she's just going to check out one more shop first.

I hope everyone has a Wonderful Thanksgiving

Jennifer - Enjoy the new washer and dryer. With your princesses on the way I am sure they will get a good workout!

Deb - Congrats on the sale!

Jen - :( for your computer. We have all Compaq and HP desktops and laptops in this house. I HATE their original CS runaround with calling out of the country. It is indefensible to have an American company with outsourced CS, in my opinion. That being said... if you have to have a more complicated problem taken care of I have found that amazingly the reps are in Canada! I had a wonderful experience with the recall on my laptop a few years ago. So, maybe you will eventually have better luck with yours. We have bought many computers over the years and seem to keep coming back to HP and Compaq because of their overall reliability.

Debbie - :yay: for a wedding gown! I hope it is "the one" for sure!

Good morning,
Just wanted to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to all my DDA friends! Hope you all enjoy your days. :goodvibes

Today my kids are home & the 2 littlier ones have play dates so I will have a chance to get some desserts & dips done today. Our tree is up already & all we have planned for this weekend is eating & going to see Tangled. Hope it's good.

Good morning, DDA!

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving! I've got one kiddo today, well I'll have the baby for an hour or so while her mom goes to get her hair done. The mom's so funny, she asked me 2-3 times if it was really okay. First of all, she's a good baby and second of all, they paid me for the whole week regardless of keeping her home 3 days for the holiday, of course I don't mind an extra 2 hours! :teeth:

Otherwise, I think I'm going to hit Target this morning to exchange sizes on Deva's Christmas outfit and return the extra 2 that I bought (wasn't risking their running out since there was only one of each size and I couldn't decide which to get). Also need to stop and get milk and double check that I have enough evaporated milk for pies since I think I missed that. Then it's just final clean up and getting ready. Mom and I were proactive with Kristi and Erin this time. They were asked 3 weeks ago - what 2 dishes are you bringing for Thanksgiving. Brendan's mom, stepdad and brother are coming too and they offered right away to bring things. We're also resolving to assign people to the kitchen for clean up duty. When Mom was wavering between paper and the china that she REALLY wants to use for dinner, I decided that we were just going to ask up front for the designated clean up people and assign if needed. (Now to just hold onto that resolve tomorrow! Especially since I know that Brendan's mom will jump in and help clean up with no problem and she's the real "guest".)

Otherwise our weekemd is pretty easy going. I do have Girl Scout paperwork that HAS to be done, but otherwise I'm taking it easy and resting up for the busy holiday season.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful, blessed, food-filled, fun-filled and love-filled Thanksgiving! I'm thankful to have you all in my life.

I would like to thank everyone for their kind words. The outpouring of love here, on our trip thread and on Facebook has been over whelming and my darling hubby Hal said to say a big thank you to everyone. The funeral will be on Thursday and it is amazing how many relatives will be able to come to pay their respects to Oma.

My mother is doing better but is not liking the physical therapy. She had developed high blood pressure a few years ago and is having trouble walking but is also having signs of kidney failure. She is ten years younger that Oma but I am sure she feels just as old right now.

Thank you again.:hug::grouphug::grouphug:

I'm so sorry about Oma. How is your Mom doing?

Vicki...

Happy Birthday!

Hi everyone!
Good thoughts continuing for Marci!
Happy Birthday Vicki

Just got home from a 2nd showing of a townhouse...I am putting an offer in tomorrow! Keep fingers crossed my friends!!

Did you get the townhouse?

Kristine - Thanks for the Marci updates! I'm so glad to see that the news is positive. What else can she look forward to? Does she have to do chemo or radiation once she's out of the hospital, and healed a bit? Just wondering what's in store for her.

Jennifer - Good luck with the townhouse bid! How truly exciting for you!!!

Tammi - I agree with you on Will's hairline, but I'm extremely glad he didn't inherit his father's ears! I remember getting up very early to watch Di's wedding, and then doing the same for Fergie. I can't wait to watch this one!! Can someone clue me in on when it will be?

It's wedding week here, too. My niece is getting married on Friday morning! I'm so excited for her! She has epilepsy, and really despaired of ever finding someone who wanted to "take her on." Luis is a great guy!!! The stress of the wedding caused Emily to have 2 grand mal seizures last week, and he stayed with her the entire time! He was really proactive with her neurologist, explaining that they are going to Italy on their honeymoon, and getting enough extra medication to have on hand in case something goes wrong. We all went out to dinner last night with Luis's family, and it was just wonderful to see him treating her like the princess she is! I can't wait to post pictures of the wedding on Friday. They truly are Cinderella and her prince Charming!

Tonight, all the ladies in the family are going out for a "Hen Party" with Emily. This is a tradition that my nephew's British wife brought to the family with her. It is a lot of fun, and I've been looking forward to it!

Congrats to your niece!

Happy Birthday Colby.

Happy Birthday Colby!

Give praise to the Lord. Dad had a CT scan done about 2 weeks ago. He saw his Cancer Dr today. For now no more chemo. They will repeat the CT scan in 3 months.

Terrific!

I should be in bed, but we just finished painting the laundry room. I had a customer call at 4:55 tonight and he kept me on the phone until 5:30 :headache: Came home and had dinner, Chris started it :goodvibes before I got home. I sat down with Colby and he went over last quarter's work and read a book to me as I had a telephone with his teacher at 8 PM tonight. Between dinner and the conference call we got everything out of the laundry room and scrubbed the floor. It was disgusting under where the washer and dryer were  Then I had the conference. Academically he is doing very well. The meds are really paying off for him. She did have behavioral concerns, but it is never just him and may just be an age thing. He always wants to be first in line and chats too much during group times. Overall I'm much more happy then last year. Once we Got the birthday boy in bed we were able to start painting (THANK YOU ALL FOR THE BIRTHDAY WISHES). I ended up using a semi gloss white which is the trim color throughout the house and we did trim, walls and ceilings all the one color. We simply did not have enough time to deal with taping things off and working it in 3 different areas. It looks crisp and clean and that is all that matters. Tomorrow my Dad is picking up the appliances during the day and we'll get them installed after work.

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Hunter's seizure and he went to bed with a headache tonight :headache: I gave him an Advil and checked on him a little while later and he said it was better.

Chris turns 40 tomorrow so he's a little bummed I think. I'm planning to pick up a couple of pizzas and bring them to his work for lunch. It should be a nice surprise I think.

I must go to bed now. I was so tired at work today.

Congrats on the sale. I thought of Hunter as I decorated my tree. I hope the headache went away.

Happy Birthday Chris!

Things are not so happy here today. Bob was laid off at work yesterday. It came out of the blue at the end of his completion of a huge project. It is also due to the company-wide loss of a national homebuilder's business. To say he is devastated is such an understatement. In the 39 years he has been in the workforce since college, he has never been laid off. He has lost his job before because of corporate takeovers, etc. But to be told he was the one they could "do without" more easily than any of the other designers that are left has been crushing to him.

Not sure where we go from here. He has to go into work later this morning to talk to corporate HR and they will discuss the package his boss insisted they put together for him.

My biggest concern at this point is the loss of all our insurance. My greatest happiness in all of this is that our daughters are not directly impacted by it.

Oh Elin. My heart hurts for Bob and for you. That really stinks. I'm glad y'all have decided to do Disney anyway.

I am so frustrated...I am only averaging 12 hours a week at Target and even though I was told it would go up after Thanksgiving it looks like it is actually going down. So I am working for diddly squat.:headache:
Wow -- I'm so surprised! It seems like they would need more people with everyone getting more hours. I hope it does indeed change and you get a lot more.

He did great! I could see the look of sheer terror on his face when he got up on the altar, turned and saw the entire congregation staring at him. But about halfway through Mass he settled down and knew exactly what he was supposed to do. He will be signed up for one Sunday a month, but he's already told me that if they need substitutes, he wants to fill in!

We LOVED Deathly Hallows, but what a cliffhanger. I might need to read the book. I don't want to wait until July to find out how it ends!

Congrats to Nicholas!

Morning, all! We have been hit with a blizzard warning today. Yikes!!! It's not supposed to hit until this afternoon, so I'm going to try to get all my errands done this morning. Wish me luck!!!

Tonight is pie night #1, at my SIL's house. So far I've made a derby pie, french coconut, s'more pie, and today I've got to make a pecan pie, and some kind of pumpkin pie. Then, I've got to split them up between pie night #1 and pie night #2 at my dad's house tomorrow night. I decided to make them all before we leave, since I'm not entirely sure how long it's going to take us to reach dad's house tomorrow. The storm is supposed to continue all night tonight, and most of the day tomorrow.

Please keep us in your prayers as we venture out and about today and tomorrow!

Please be careful. And for the record, all the pies sound divine!

Good Morning

Congrats Deb

I hope everyone has a Wonderful Thanksgiving

Yeah -- wedding dress shopping -- how fun!

Jen -- isn't that kind of early to be on bedrest? I'm so sorry! How long do they want you to try to go? I hope it passes quickly for you.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the good thoughts and prayers.

I got home on Friday. I've been sleeping in an electronic recliner because it is easier to get in and out of. Last night I tried the bed and that was more comfortable for all night. Everything wears me out. Bathroom trips, showers, walking, etc., but I can already tell that I am getting stronger. Saw the plastic surgeon on Monday and they took all three drains out, so that's made showers and everything easier. I have this one piece zip up lovely girdle thing to wear for the next 6 weeks but it's not too bad. It's hard to get my right arm back in it because that is the arm where they took the nodes and it's fairly sore, but it will get easier. I'm still swollen so they gave me one size for now, then in about two weeks I might be ready for the smaller garment. Everything is swollen right now. Both docs say everything looks great but it sure doesn't look it to me. I walk stooped over like an old lady but my steps are more sure now. I've been lucky that I never got nauseous, dizzy, loopy etc.

Taking valium for the muscle spasms every twelve hours (can't begin to tell you how bad my back and lower back/bottom) hurt and vidocin for the pain. I'm started stretching those to about every 5-6 hours instead of 4 and it's worked pretty good so far. I try to walk as much as I can but I can't get but a loop around the house each time. Arm where they took nodes is completely number under my armpit and the underneath side to my elbow. Sometimes have shooting pains or random pains but they said that is normal and is from nerve damage getting the nodes out.

The best news -- the nodes they took out during the surgery were negative for cancer (nodes during sentinel node surgery were positive so that's why they took more). The first bit of good news we've had and I'm still grinning from the news. It took a while longer to get the results because they were surprised that the cancer is one kind, the two nodes taken 10 days ago were a different kind, and the last surgery produced no new cancer. They can't figure out why two different kinds because of where they were, so they are going to do more testing. As long as the newest nodes taken out continue to be negative, I won't have to do radiation, only chemo. If they had been positive, I would have had to do radiation and chemo.

Chemo will most likely start the week after Christmas. I will lose my hair and they haven't told me how many rounds etc. Right now, the cancer is at a Stage II, so life could be much, much worse.

I can't drive for another week, will need to walk stooped over, and won't be able to sleep on my side for another week, but at that point I can as long as I curl up my knees and put a pillow between them.

We have had a trip to Disney planned for a year now. Doc says I should still be able to go, just with a wheelchair and no thrill rides. We will be there from Dec. 17 - Dec. 23 so if anyone wants to meet up, share park days etc., just let me know. This will be a slower paced trip for us but I'm fine with that.

Thank you so much for the prayers, thoughts, pm's, cards, soup, calls, etc. They have meant more than you will ever know! :goodvibes

Marci, how wonderful to hear from you tonight! Your recovery is sounding easier than you thought, so that makes me very happy. Your situation makes ours a walk in the park, my friend.

I would love to see if we could meet next month. Let me know where you all are staying and we will try to make it work. You are in my thoughts every day. Take care.

Marci - It's wonderful to hear from you!! I'm so glad that your recovery is going fairly smoothly so far. Our prayers continue that the nodes continue testing in the best possible ways and that radiation is taken off the treatment schedule. I'm so glad you'll get to take your trip and spend some time together in all of our happy place before starting the chemo. I know that you'll all enjoy your time. Hope to see you pop in more often as you're feeling better. :grouphug: and continued prayers from all of us here.

Jennifer - Yuck! I'm sorry that bedrest is starting already. Just take it easy and enjoy the time with your girls before things get crazier around there. You've prepared yourself for this and everything will work out great!
