Deb - Good Luck

I spent most of the day putting Aubrey's alphabet quilt top together,

I still have a ton of work to do but I'm loving it so far

That is amazing. Are you quilting each of the characters from scratch? What a neat idea. I want one for my bed:thumbsup2

I have the entire day off :cool1::cool1: This is the only day off this week so I'm planning on enjoying it. I do have the 10 AM phone interview and I'm hoping they offer me an in person interview for next week. I need to start pulling out our winter clothes and putting the summer stuff away. We don't seem to be getting above the low 60s now. I must admit that I'm no ready for winter.

Good luck Deb!

I applied to the stores at the local mall & most of them want Sunday availabilty. I can do Saturdays but not Sundays. One store had me fill out this huge personality type survey which seemed to me to have nothing to do with the selling floor. :confused3 The temp agency I applied to is not hiring now & never returns calls. I miss my Disney Store job!

My mind has got to thinking about Christmas presents. My kids have not asked for anything..there is no one "it" present for this year. I think the majority will be books & clothes.

Thanks. I'd love to give you advice, but I know all about stores and restaurants wanting Sunday availability. I worked last Sunday and am working the next two and I try very hard not to work on Sundays as it is family day for us. Do you have a local Chic Fil A. I know they are closed on Sundays;)

My kids have mentioned a few things that they want for Christmas or their birthdays. Colby wants the Hot Wheels Custom motors sets. Hunter wants a specific Bakugan and he's mentioned a video game too. I think I'm going to look for another lap top as the one I bought the boys last year has become Nick's. He uses it every day for his homework. I'm so glad that I picked it up last year as I would have definitely had to pick on up by now anyway. I think that I'm going to try to find a new washer and dryer on Black Friday. We've had these for 15 years or more and they both make noises that make me think they're on their last leg. I think I want a front loader set as they are much more efficient.

Deb,
We have a Bosch washer & dryer. I DO NOT reccommend them. The washer collects water in the rubber seal around the door & gets moldy if I am not on top of it. They both also beep constantly until you go & shut them off. I am not usually standing there waiting for them to go off  so it gets very annoying ..beep..beep...beep & it's usually when you are already doing something where you can't get to it to shut it off.

Yeah, Sundays are hard. We'll see what comes up. I will just have to keep applying & hope for the best. Ideally I would love to use my degree & get a "real grown up" job. :)

That may be a problem with all front loaders. My mother has to clean hers with bleach to stop the mold around the seal. I think she can turn off the beeping though

Your preaching to the choir sister. I totally want a grown up job too:lmao: I waited on a couple from Dallas last night. They were quite chatty and over the course of the evening they knew that I had a degree and that I loved to travel. At one point the gentleman said "I know that I'm nosey and you don't have to answer, but if you have a degree and you present yourself as well as you have to us, what are you doing here?":rotfl::rotfl: They were not surpised to hear that I was a SAHM and then told me how they thought that was so admirable, blah blah blah.

I'm working on planning a birthday party for my soon to be 8 and 13 year olds. I'm going to do it together, but have activities to keep their friends in 2 groups. We've decided to do it the weekend after Halloween. The kids have picked a Pirate theme and we will ask the guests to dress as pirates. I've started gathering decorations and I'm praying the weather is nice. I'll try to turn the deck into a pirate ship. For activities I want to have a treasure hunt for each group. The older kids I want to send on a quest, giving a clue that will lead them to a piece of a treasure map, an item they'll need for the next part of the quest and the next clue. For example I may give them so many paces from a point which will take them to the mailbox. There they'll find a map piece and a pair of binoculars. The next clue will have them use the binoculars to spot something that will be the location of the next clue. I'll use a compass, shovel, etc. I think I have that age group figured out. This will be too difficult for the younger group so I need activities that they can do to earn a map piece. I need your ideas as to activities for 7 and 8 year olds to do that will seem pirate related, take time and be fun. Both groups will end up with a treasure map that they will have to put together then figure out where the hidden treasure is. The boys each have a Disney carry on bag that is shaped like a treasure chest so I will load those with party favors and that will be the treasure at the end. So help me out with activities and pirate party foods...Please.

The telephone interview went well. I had done a bit of research on the company and have been paying attention to current events as far as solar, nuclear and fossil fuel energies go. The interview lasted 40 minutes. She liked me and has invited me to an in person interview sometime next week. She'll get back to me with day and time by tomorrow afternoon. The position itself seems boring, but I can see room for advancement especially as we see solar energy becoming affordable to everyday people and not just the wealthy. I think I could move my way up over time. The job yesterday doesn't leave much if any room for advancement so that needs to be a consideration if it is offered. It would be more exciting in the here and now though :confused3

I saw the specialist today. The girls are both laying sideways. One weighs aprox. 1 lb 11 oz and the other 1 lb 12 oz. they are both measuring a little over a week ahead.

That's great, Deb! I hope next week brings good interviews and better news.

I just finished my first batch of Disney ornaments. They are too cute. I'd share with you, but some of you might end up with them :lmao: I'm going to make another batch for our Disney tree. I'm actually thinking that we may have to make our big tree the Disney tree this year :goodvibes
