DDA Chapter 26

I've been thinking about this a lot today, so I figured I would pay my respects here. When I really stop and think about what we, as a nation, went through that day, the feelings are just as raw today as they were then. Always remember. It's not going to stop. It will happen again. We just don't know when or where.

I've been thinking about it too. I remember it like it was yesterday. My Grandmother was alive and living with us. We watched it unfold together in total disbelief. I agree that it is inevitable that it will happen again. With people wanting to burn the Koran it may happen soon rather than later :sad2:

peek a boo

Good to see you Karen how are things going? How's your dog. Any luck finding a job. Many of us are searching for jobs now. Really tough job market

at disney world where can u meet the incredibles? i am helping a friend out with her trip and her son wants to meet the incredibles

So true!!!!

I wish I had known! Were going to get there tomorrow afternoon, go to the dinner at the hotel, then sleep haha..i have NEVER been to washington DC so i feel like I need to make another trip! and I would love to see you guys again!!

Wow, I am surprised that you have never been to Washington, DC. I had several school trips there throughout the years and it can't be that much difference in distance for you to get there.

Work went alright. 2 days to go. I have a list of things yet to get. I have a bunch of stuff to do at work. I'm gonna have some major things to deal with at work once I get back though.:headache: There is also my least favorite packing to do as well.

Sorry you had to deal with helicopters last night Terry. I would probably have thought nothing of them as I have an airport and two hospitals nearby so they are a common sound around here.

Karen- Good to see you. You can meet the Incredibles at Disney Hollywood Studios in the Magic of Animation building. By where they do the animation lessons.
I hope you are all doing well.

I cannot believe it has been 9 years either. And it terrifies me when I allow myself to think about the fact that it will happen again.

I have to agree. 9/11 bothers me as much today as it did then. We lost several friends...and it's something that just sits in your gut.

At that time I was school board and a decision had to be made on whether to go on lock down or to close. Not knowing the extent of the situation. Sitting in that conference room with a bunch of weeping adults is etched into my mind forever.

Watching the new coverage this morning makes me feel like it is that terrible day. You are so right Tammi.

I know, that thought terrifies me too Elin.. I was getting ready this morning and kept stopping and watching the coverage on tv..I was watching one of the 9/11 tv specials on the history channel yesterday and just kept thinking that this looks like it should be a movie, not something we all saw happen..I can remember that day as clear as anything when we got the news in school...

Good morning everyone--Im off to washington DC..hope you all have a nice saturday

I'm feeling a bit better today. Still got a cold and a slight sore throat, but not nearly as bad as yesterday. I spent time outside today as it was very nice out. We stacked a bunch of wood and we should be able to finish up tomorrow. We also decided to take our camper next weekend instead of staying at a hotel. It will be significantly less expensive. That means I need to prep some easy meals for the weekend, but much better than having to eat out 4 meals. All in all a much better plan

I stacked wood for almost 4 hours today and Chris and I started the couch to 5K (C25K) running program. Week one day one is in the books and I did it. I think we about 1 3/4 miles in 30 minutes walking/running. I know that I desparately need exercise so I bit the bullet and jumped in. Hopefully I can keep it up.

Hi all! I keep trying to catch up and post, but get distracted again. We had a baby shower-dinner type thing tonight. Only two friends ended up being able to come, plus the girls in my family. Actually, didn't even know if Erin could come until 20 minutes in. So, instead of doing something at the house, we went out to dinner instead. It was nice and we had a good time. A friend of Kristi's made me the most adorable cake!

Otherwise, we've just been trying to get things cleaned up for my great-aunt and uncle's visit this coming weekend. Plus, getting baby stuff together. I don't have my cradle or bed back from Erin yet so hopefully we'll get that taken care of this week. I sent Brendan a message the other day asking to get at least the cradle this weekend and the crib this or next. They need to get the "big girl bed" for Kaylin from Kristi's house in order to get the crib here, but that means coming this way anyway. I did ask my dad to help me get it over the next week if they couldn't bring it in their car since he has a van and he was on board. Mom is trying to help get things moving as well. Unfortunately, setting up the crib means rearranging the whole room so we really need to get moving. Especially since I'm not sure how long Miss Deva is going to hold on. I think she'll go most of the next week at least, but I'm thinking sometime the next is most likely. (Heidi - I know you asked...She's due the 3rd of Oct.) So, as long as we can get that set, I think we'll be okay to start, except for needing to get diapers. That's on the plan for sometime this week or maybe next weekend.

I hope that everyone is doing well. Deb - Hope you're feeling better. Tomorrow we're headed to Six Flags finally so the kids are happy about that. Now if I can just survive the trip! The weather is supposed to be decent so that's good - about 80 degrees.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

Good luck, Tia. I hope you make it through Six Flags today and get all those last minute things taken care of before Miss Deva makes her appearance!

We are getting some much-needed rain today. However, I think it is just a tease. We need inches and inches of the stuff and we are getting drizzle. I think it is a good day to make soup and chili! Off to the grocery store to get the fixin's :)

Thanks! We got some glorious rain this week thanks for the remnants of the last Gulf hurricane. It was a nice change of pace and much needed. Hope you get something good coming through. Chili sounds really good! I think we may need some here this week. :cloud9:

Well, I guess it's not just me and Terra going to Six Flags (well along with Rachel and her friend who are going to get us in on their coupons). Kristi's friends can't go at the last minute as they had to take their son to the ER last night. I don't know if she's thinking we'll still go, but I don't see another decent choice. Rachel and her friend aren't enough to get even Kristi's minimum of 3 in, if we wait we have to find 7 people who can help again for the $15 coupons in Oct, plus Deva will be so small then, etc.

I think that the kids' grandma is going to take them to Disneyland when they are in CA this month, though, so hopefully that is a good enough replacement (Terra and I figure we would go to DL with her if they wanted to go to Six Flags instead - but then Terra figures maybe we don't have time to do that right now. ;) ) for them for now. I also offered to keep Chase so that Kristi can just take the roller coaster riders one day in Oct. :confused3 Hopefully, that will mean not too hard of feelings. I tell you this whole "trying to get to Six Flags" thing has been a mess this year! :headache: (And oh so not worth it either.)

I'm proud of you. Keep it up. I need to get started too. Chuck has been running on the treadmill. He's going to blow me away in the 5K at Disney in 3 weeks. :lmao:

 new Disney babbies are coming.

Tia time is closing in, hope you can get everything togethger soon.

Kristine yeah for having everything, time is closing in for you too.

My sister has agreed to the Winnie the Pooh theme for my neice. :)

You'd better do a bit of running between now and then.

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Tia. Hang in there. You'll get it all done and if not someone will have to scramble for you while your in the hospital. Maybe that would be easier for you ;) The cake was adorable.
