DDA Chapter 24

We used sculptey II clay. We rolled it out (though now we have the clay press that makes it 100 times easier) then used our Mickey Head cookie cutters to cut out the shape. Then we baked them in the oven. We found the scrapbook bottlecaps for some and did beading for others. Believe it or not everyone in my family, including my Dad particpated in making the ornaments this year. I actually went into Colby's class and did it with them today, using Christmas cookie cutters. We have also found that if you put grated crayone on the ornaments before you bake them it gives them a decorated look :goodvibes

cool. Thanks for the instructions. we have a Mickey Cookie cutter.

Elin I hope you beat the snow in the morning!

Beth I love the pillow case idea :thumbsup2

Anne Marie glad things went smoother than expected for Katie with the tutor.

Sounds like Elizabeth & Debbie had a soggy day, hope it gets better!

Tia yay for you mom!

Good luck to all of you Christmas shopping. It gets so difficult the older they get.

I am off work till Monday, lazy weekend coming up :rotfl:

My delima is not what to get for Christmas but what to get Garrett for his 16th birthday. When I turned 16 mom gave me a hope chest(which I still have). I want to give Garrett something special that he will always want to keep. Sixteenth birthdays may not be as big of a deal to boys, but I want to make it a big deal.

Any thoughts/suggestions that won't break the bank?

A vehicle is out of the question :rotfl:

I HAVE to do some Christmas shopping today. Other than the Ipods and a few video games, I have NO IDEA what to get my kids for Christmas. Nicholas is especially difficult.

Books, Legos, model rocket, train, remote control car, a game(s) for the family

Or you could do an experience type gift; museum membership, art classes, music classes, concert tickets, etc

I have a strange question...

I am in the process of getting Christmas gifts for my preschoolers (3-4 year olds). We always buy a book from the Scholastic book club points that we have for each child. I usually stick something else in, too. This year I have a class of 14. This part of the gift will be out of my own pocket, so I can't spend a lot per child. I was just out sewing Christmas pillowcases for Miles and Laura and remembered that MIL recently gave me a stash of children's print fabric. So, would a pillowcase be cute or weird?

Please be honest. I'd rather my friends tell me it's a bad idea than hear whispers from the preschool moms. ;)

If you have enough fabric that would be a good idea. Or a simple tote bag. Or I was in a children's choir and every year we got a sewn homemade fabric ornament from the director and a candy cane. I still have those ornaments from the years I was in that group and love putting them on my tree.

By brother and his wife live in Syracuse. We are leaving here Sunday morning at 5:00, and will come home Thursday. It's a fast trip, but we'll be able to help out with the cleaning and cooking. Oh, and the spoiling of the baby!
I was hoping to get to meet you, but unless I take off from work I wouldn't make it to Syracuse during that time.

Anyone else watching the ABC special on 40 years of Disney Animation "When Dreams Come True" right now? I didn't realize that it was on so I"m excited to find it. :cool1::hug::love::cutie:

Poor Elizabeth seems flustered....she sat on the plane for quite some time last night...then she sat on ME for quite some time. And to top things off, they lost her checked bag....so they don't have proper shoes for the massive rain that looks like is going on there. :sad2:

Holy Man! Elizabeth without her suitcase??!! That is a very scary thought!!!!

My darling daughter is in the local Parade of Lights...so we will watch that tonight on the tv and see it in person tomorrow...it is her last Parade of Lights.

My mother makes pillowcases for my girls every once in a while and they love them. They each probably have about 12-20 fun pillowcases. I think it is a neat idea. It is also unusual.

We're watching it. Chris is wondering why there are no Pixar movies mixed in?

Chuck got a black onyx ring with a diamond chip in the middle for his 21st.

Chuck got our Disney Files magazine from DVC today. I was surprised not to hear any of you talking about the news. He says that Star Tours is shutting down in October of 2010 and Star Tours 2 is opening in 2011. He says they are also doubling Fantasy Land in size. The largest expansion in the 40 years or something like that. It sounds like there are some cool changes for Dumbo. There are pictures in the flyer. I can't wait to get home to see more info.

That would have been wonderful. However, I'm not sure how much free time I'll have, anyway. We're going to be cleaning the house, and stocking the freezer with meals Jamie can just pull out and heat up.

When I was on my Wishes cruise the captain was talking about how they were putting a big top tent over dumbo or something like that. I havent gotten the magazine yet...I hate Star Tours
