DDA Chapter 24

I had a nice chat with a Mother from the boys' school last night. Her daughter has a plethra of disabilities and has had several brain surgeries. In fact she has had 10 surgeries under Dr. Duhaime. They love her, feel that she is meticulous, cautious and overall an outstanding surgeon. They have travelled to Boston 3 times, but each time they come back here because they feel the care is just as good, they like being able to get additional help in 20 minutes vs 3+ hours etc. She was very reassuring.

Our pediatrician retired 2 years ago, but he has heard about Hunter's issues and left a message for us to call him this evening. :goodvibes

The man that I lifeguarded with in the mornings has been keeping in touch. Apparently the patrons are very concerned, but the management hasn't so much as asked if anyone has heard from me. They certainly haven't called. One of the patrons is a pediatrician that works in the PICU so we may very well have him caring for Hunter. Another is a well know Thorasic Surgeon and he has told John to have me look him up and we can discuss what's going on. There are many others praying for us and offering assistance which is amazing from people that I just had brief conversations with each morning.

glad to hear this. See you guys did make the right decision. Let us know what time the surgery is scheduled for.

I had to take Hunter to get his seasonal flu and H1N1 shots this morning. It was worse than you can imagine. He started crying and carrying on here. I managed to get the numbing cream on his arm and get him into the car. We picked up my Dad on the way. Hunter threatened to run away and was serious. My Dad had to physically carry him at times and we had to restrain him for the shots. When he was done he said he wished he was dead and that he was thinking of stabbing himself with a knife :scared1: He settled down after a while and has been fairly happy ever since. Needless to say we are not leaving him alone for even a second. It is so hard to sort out what he would or wouldn't do versus the side effects of his meds versus the side effects of where the tumor is sitting on his brain. It is very scarey though.

Deb - for you and  for poor Hunter. And    for the other three princes in your life.

I managed to get most of my outside decorations done today. Chris needs to help with the eve lights. I spoke with our old pediatrician and he highly recommended the surgeon that we selected. She would be his first choice. He also asked if we minded if he stopped by during the surgery. Did I mention how much we love him. I also got the ornament exchanges boxed and ready to ship and I made a necklace/sunglasses holder. Keeping busy is a must these days.

I have an odd request and knew I could come here to ask without risking being "flamed" in the process.

I just got off the phone with my friend Sandy (who I am traveling with this weekend). She and our other friend found their old leftover pass with one day left on it. So they can come into HS on Saturday when they arrive to see the Osborne Lights. Sandy's DD Hayley does not have a pass, however. I would love to get her that pass.

My odd request is to ask if anyone here has an old pass laying around with an extra day on it that I could buy. I know it would have to be one from before the biometric scans for all time. I also know it would be tough to get the pass to me by Friday. So if anyone going this weekend has one that would be optimal. If that is not an option I know I can buy passes at the ticket booths at any park, but can I get a 1-day pass at the lobby concierge too?

Deb - I'm so sorry that the shot didn't go well. I think you are wise to keep a close eye on Hunter. Does he understand how many needles are in his future? Maybe having the surgeon or his old pediatrician talk to him about it would be a good idea. I just HATE that this is happening to him! Alan's entire family has included Hunter, you and Chris in their personal prayers. I hope that it brings some comfort. If I could be there in person, I would, but I'm there in spirit.

Elizabeth - Have a wonderful trip, and I'll pray for better weather than is forecast for you.

Tia - Sounds like you still have a ton on your plate! I'm all for not having a big dinner on Christmas. I'd love to talk my family into it. I might even stand a chance this year, since Dad is coming up 2 days after Christmas and we'll do a large dinner with my sister and her family then.

Theresa - How did the interview go? Any vibes about it?

So, for anyone interested, I found the ULTIMATE cinnamon roll recipe! Go to the Pioneer Woman blog and look for her cinnamon roll recipe! It is HEAVENLY!!! It was so easy to do, as well! I only made a half a batch today and that made 25 rolls. Plenty for us and some friends! I adjusted the icing recipe a bit, as well, since we don't drink coffee, but it turned out yummy! Alan took one, ate it, and told me that if we weren't already married, he'd propose to me! That's success! I was planning on making them for neighbor gifts this year, but I'm not sure, now. It was an all afternoon thing, and quite messy. I guess I could do it over the course of a week, or so. Hmmm, I've got time to think about it.

Night all! I'm going to go read for a while, then Alan wants some "alone" time. Since I'm leaving him for New York next week, I'll go along with him.

36 more hours!!!:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

It is so wonderful to be able to just pack clothes, camera, shoes and chargers and call it a day. I don't even have to pack deoderant. Everything is in my Owners Locker. Soap, swimsuit, toothbrush charger, all waiting for me.

I have to pick up my jeans from the seamstress tomorrow, find a red sash, go to the hairdresser and backup my iPhone.

Right now I'm doing endless laundry.:laundy::laundy::laundy:

See you soon! I'm so excited!:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Glynis - Can't wait to try the recipe. And you say it's easy?!?! Bonus! Maybe I'll make them for breakfast on Saturday since Terra and I have a day to ourselves finally!! How many rolls did your half recipe make? The recipe card the site has says "Servings 8", but I'm not quite believing it. ;)

Stephanie - Woohoo!!!! Happy travels and have a marvelous trip! Do you have a great name for your locker? I swear that's one of my favorite things about the Owner's Locker FB posts - the great locker names.

Well, two or so hours later, I have a clean living room carpet! Woohoo! Now I can head to bed happily knowing that tomorrow...Christmas is coming to our house! Good night all!

This wind that we are having is horrible! It's had me up since 2:30!

Good morning. :)

Safe travels to those leaving today.
