TGIF! Today was grandparents day at school and I took the rest of the week off.

I'm watching my grandson and then shampooing the living room carpet. Yay me! My sister will be here in 2 hours, so I don't know when I'll be back on.

I don't remember if there were gifts from santa or not, but when I was 5/6 I woke one night and headed downstairs only to see everyone putting the gifts under the tree. So I knew very young there was no santa and it never bottered me, plus I would always play it up for Dawn.

I also knew very early that there was no tooth fairy (again caught my mom, what can I say I'm a very light sleeper) and no Easter Bunny. Heck I even gave up trick or treating very young, but I was a bit differnet from the rest of the kids.

I don't remember if there were gifts from santa or not, but when I was 5/6 I woke one night and headed downstairs only to see everyone putting the gifts under the tree. So I knew very young there was no santa and it never bottered me, plus I would always play it up for Dawn.

Anne Marie-I usually give my kids PJ's wrapped from me on Christmas eve but this year the last thing any of them need is PJ's-not enough room in their drawers. I'm thinking I'll get them ornaments instead. Then on Christmas day I usually have a book for each kid to them and Gene. I just can't come up with ideas for kid/dad books this year. I don't know if I will wrap a book to them from me or not. EVERYTHING else comes from Santa unwrapped.

I must be off because I almost wish the gig was up with Santa. I know I was in the first grade. I was thinking Lizzy was catching on but then Sunday she asked me if the Tink in the "magic" shots from photopass was real. How could she think that was real? I guess she believed me when I would say "Oooo, I felt her" after they'd take the photo. I wonder if seeing the world Santas at Epcot will bring questions.

I think your kids are old enough to understand that a trip to Disney is part of their gift from you.

I am thinking the same thing...the last time we were at Disney during Christmas they were all young. Now, I can just see Dan & Sophie wondering why there are all these different Santas.

I love hearing about everyone's traditions & holiday stories.

My realization came when I saw my uncle trying to wrap a pogo stick for me late Christmas eve night...Think I was 9 or 10???? I was crushed.

Gotta a Santa question for you all. (not for little eyes)



Do you always give your child a gift from you as well as Santa or are all the gifts from Santa?

The reason I ask is since my kids all are getting that 1 big expensive gift from Santa (which looks pretty small under the tree) I supplimented with clothes & books in big boxes so it looks like alot when they actually come down Christmas morning.....well I was hoping they will think the trip to Disney a few days before Christmas would be their present but I am not sure if the 2 younger ones would be dissapointed not seeing something from mom & dad.

Santa has already started wrapping so if i decided to make the clothes from us then I would have to re wrap those so its not the same paper as Santas.

So, what do you all do?

Santa leaves the kids one or two presents and fills their stocking. Santa always gets something from their lists. The rest of their presents are from us. That is how our families always did it. That way Santa is loved, but we are loved more

The news wasn't as we had hoped today. The EEG showed abnormal activity on the left side of his brain which is not consistant with the diagnosis of Juvenile Epilepsy. His current diagnosis is complex partial epilepsy which essentially means that he has both grand and petit seizures of unknown origin. They put him on a med to stop the seizures. We pray that this works, but we also must figure out what is causing the seizures. The possibilities run from nothing to life threatening. Telling a 12 year old that it might be life threatening is NOT a good idea. He was so upset. The second doctor had much better bedside manner and was quite assuring that he did not think it was anything life threatening and if he did he would get it on the table now. In any event we have an MRI scheduled for 8:50 tonight. Hopefully tomorrow morning we can eliminate brain tumor and brain abnormalities from possible causes Meanwhile, we are mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted. Hunter and I are hoping to get a nap in now since we have no idea what time we will get home tonight. Please continuing praying for Hunter. On a positive note this form of epilepsy may not effect him for the rest of his life, but there is no way to know how long it will effect him.

That's just it. My mom & MIL don't really give my kids anything. My mom can only afford $5 each in a card & my MIL maybe $20 in a card. I have no other family & Dana's doesn't exchange (except for 1 brother) so if Santa didn't bring a "sleighfull" (i was going to say a truck load!) then my kids wouldn't get really anything...so Santa goes alittle overboard here.

The kids get a gift from me and the rest come from Santa. He gets all the glory here as well, meaning the big gifts come from him. The gift from me is usually a smaller one.

Quick Santa / Disney story:

The boys were probably around 4yr and 7yr. We were going to Disney the week after Christmas....just like this year. We told the boys to ask for Disney tickets and maybe we could go. It was their first trip to Disney. BUT....I told them I had heard from other mom's that if Santa's leaves a Disney ticket in your stocking you only get 2 or 3 toys from Santa. Austin said that he didn't care because he really wanted to go to Disney.

Christmas morning....the boys go running into the family room and Austin stood there and looked at his 3 toys.....then turned and ran to the mantel to pull his stocking down. He turned it upside down and dumped it all out. When I asked him what he was doing he said, "I only have 3 toys from Santa so there better be a Disney ticket in here." I laughed so hard and of course didn't have the camcorder going so I missed it. But I will never forget it!!!

Now they are 12 & 15 and this is the 3rd time we have done the Disney trip the week after Christmas. They know to only ask for 2 or 3 gifts since they are wanting a Disney ticket in their stocking. Thank goodness they are both asking for lacrosse equipment. That's a good thing since the season starts up in Febuary and I was going to have to purchase it anyway.

Santa has helpers, don't you know? Much too big a job for one man to do. The trick is knowing which Santa is the true Santa, so you best treat them all as if he's the one!
