DDA Chapter 23

We have had our heat on since the end of Aug. Its set at 70 and there has been like 2 days that it hasn't come on. As of right now its only 48º out and I see snow before Halloween again this year. :cold:

It's 62 inside and 46 outside here. It's damp, dreary, and depressing.

Our house is 45 years old and has terrible insulation. We also have baseboard hot water heat. There are times during the winter that we just can't get the house much above 60, but I don't feel like starting that already.

The good news is that the warmest day coming up is going to be Saturday, and that is the next cross country meet.

62 is way too cold!

THANK YOU! I think I have him convinced. ;) He grew up in a house without central heat (they heated with a woodstove downstairs and nothing upstairs), so his base is a little different than mine. (Though my house growing up was usually chilly, because my dad is cheap, too.)

Beth, tell him if he won't turn the heat on you are going to get one of those $500 annual fee credit cards. :rolleyes1

I have NO TOLERANCE for cold. NONE! Besides, I pay our bills. So if I say it is cold and I want the heat on, the heat goes on. It is 85 degrees here today so my heat is not on. Yet.

thankfully I just go flip the switch.....we have never had an argument on heat or air. Well one time he thought the air should be off and I was hot. I gave him the death glare....hasn't been an issue since

Or maybe a flight to Florida?:rotfl:

Honestly, I probably could just turn it on, and he wouldn't know what to say, so he wouldn't say anything. I'm not sure if there is anything that needs to be done to the boiler, though, to prepare it for the season. Guess I should learn that! :rotfl:

I turned on our heat today too - it was 65 in the house but when we turned it on it took the chill out of the air.

You have a baby in the house, no chill allowed.

Our heat is set at 70, I haven't noticed it coming on yet, though I bet it will come on tonight. It isn't warm out.

This is our house, as well. 70 is where our heat comes on. We haven't dipped that low inside the house, yet, but I foresee it in the next couple of days.

Of course, I had the oven on most of the day making pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, and biscuits for dinner. That heats up the house really well!

Did I mention that my dishwasher is conking out on me? Yup! It doesn't clean so well, and lately has been turning itself on without anyone starting it. I told Alan that Santa better come early this year, or we'll be eating out a lot or only on paper plates.

We use paper plates most of the time. The dishwasher works, but paper is just easier.

Stephanie

I copied and pasted your email, but it was kicked back. :confused3
I will try agin right now.

I won! It's already up to 64 in here, and it is noticeably warmer. :thumbsup2

We had to buy a new dishwasher at the beginning of summer, because our old one sprung a leak. We went with a Bosch and like it.

We haven't had a budget for over two months. The Governor signed over two weeks ago but they are still fighting over things. The Governor is fighting to keep the monies for the education programs. There are some day care centers that the workers have not gotten paychecks for over 6 weeks. Parents are bringing in food and toilet paper.
I cannot even begin to imagine how many people will be filing for bankruptcy, losing their homes.

Well, we still had no budget. We got our official notification that we are laid off as of midnight tonight. We were told that we need to watch the news and the state website. So, we are still waiting.

Wow, that really sucks. I hope they are working round the clock at solving this. Obviously the state can't run with no employees.

Hal knows that for me to be happy, the house better be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The one compromise is that the thermostat is set at 72 in the summer and 70 in the winter. We keep some rooms closed off or no heat and that works fine. He has the electric blanket for the winter, I have my heat flashes to keep me warm!!!

That happened twice and lasted for about a week each time. This time it has been over two and a half months for some with no pay. That is just crazy.

They took Monday off for Yom Kippur knowing they didn't have a budget. I have a feeling that we won't be working tomorrow. I'm starting to think maybe that was their plan all along. Supposedly, they have a plan for one month but the Governor told them several weeks ago she wouldn't sign anything other than a full budget. We'll see.
