DDA Chapter 23

So I took Mo into see her pediatrician today as her fever spiked to 103.6 and she was having trouble breathing. She has the flu and tomorrow I have to take her to get tested for the swine flu. :scared1: She told me Mo cannot return to school until her cough is gone, which could be 5-7 days. And now Eric has a fever, so it looks like we've all had/got the flu!! Oh, it's gonna be a LONG week.

Oh no! A lot of doctors will give Tamiflu preventively to the well people in the family if a case of flu has been documented. See if you can get it for yourself and the girls. :wizard: to you!

I'm here with my hands out, begging for prayers, pixie dust, good thoughts, whatever you can spare.

My dad had prostate cancer 12 years ago, and came through it just fine. However, this past week, he had a swelling and went to the doctor. At first they thought it was just an infected gland, but after some antibiotics, and then a blood test, they've determined that it is cancer. They're not sure where it is situated, and he has a CAT scan tomorrow to see what's going on. His doctor is pretty sure that they caught things in time to take care of it, but I'm still scared!

I still haven't adjusted to my mom being gone, and I'm terrified of losing my dad, as well. I'm a daddy's girl, and proud to be one, and I'm so not ready to go through losing him!

Thanks for all your DDA magic!

Glynis -- I can understand why you are terrified. Remember that prostate cancer is one of the easiest to beat, and it sounds like he got help quickly so that helps as well. Sending lots of prayers to your Dad, his docs and to you and your family. :grouphug:

:bday:Birthday Wishes to Deb, Steffy, & Robin!!!:bday:

:wizard:For everyone not feeling well!

:hug:Glynis-prayers for your Dad!!!:wizard:

:wizard:Tia-hope you get some answers!

Elizabeth-Lizzy was just asking if it was still hot in TX. We've had some cool mornings here.

Debbie-WOW!!! LOVE that cheerleader outfit! Can you do it in a size 10/12 in royal blue & white? I'm not looking forward to making it. I like yours more than the pattern Lizzy picked out.

Denise-stay safe!:wizard:

I bought my latest from www.babye-store.com I was a bit worried to order from them as the site doesn't look like much but they had the best price and shipped very fast. They have a limited selection-don't have what I ordered anymore. I also bought 2 other strollers from www.albeebaby.com I even called them a few times-asking questions before I purchased- and they have excellent service and usually have great prices.

Tomorrow is our 25th anniversary. Seems like yesterday and seems like forever too. I have a nephew who was born that day. I can't believe he is 25! I'm sure my sister can't either!

Things are crazy busy at work and the fun has just begun.

Happy Anniversary!

Good morning. :)

I'm pretty sure Alyssa will be going to school today. By last night her fever was gone and she was feeling good. I let her sleep in today and I'll check her when I get her up, then go into work a little late. Nicholas went to her classroom yesterday to get her work and her teacher told him she's the 4th person in there to come down with strep.

He also came home with a paper regarding the swine flu vaccine. They will be offering it on Tues and Thurs in October, and will set up sites in the high schools. I thought the would be doing it in each school. So that is going to be inconvenient! But not as inconvenient as everyone being sick for weeks on end.

I hope Alyssa is better. That is a pain about the swine flu vaccine, but at least your kids will be able to get it. My doc is saying they won't have near enough to vaccinate all their patients. I'm hoping we will be able to get it for Andrew and Jake.

Denise -- I hope you, your family and friends are all safe!

Tammi, as far as I know NONE of our schools ever offer any sort of vaccines. And when I went in for my flu thing yesterday the pharmacy guy looked at me very suspiciously and said "Do you want the vaccine for a CHILD?" I had Princess with me. So I tend to think pharmacies will be squirrelly about vaccinating kids. Maybe not.
Our schools don't either, but they decided they would vaccinate for the swine flu. I assumed it would be something simple, like each school nurse would do the vaccines IN THEIR SCHOOL. Silly me. So I'm going to have to compete with families from all over the area getting into the high school. I'm wondering how many families are going to NOT get the shot.

Is it free? Because around here that would be the determining factor. My primary Dr. is an HIV specialist so I KNOW her office will have the vaccine. The thing is, I don't really want the shot. I don't know if I want DS to have the vaccine, either. I guess I will call his pediatrician and see what they are suggesting.

DH is one of those people who REFUSES to get a flu shot of any sort. Not sure what his particular mental block is, he claims the shot will give him the flu. Bonehead.:sad2: DS and I get the shot or the mist EVERY year and so far the vaccine has not made us sick. But DH staunchly REFUSES to get the vaccine. So more than likely HE will get swine flu and infect the rest of us. From that standpoint I think maybe DS and I should get vaccinated.

I believe the swine shot is free, and that is the one they are giving in school. Also, it is 2 shots, given 30 days apart, just like the first year that you get the regular flu shot. For the "normal" flu shot, we will go to the ped., and it is covered by insurance. I get my shots at work. We get the flu shot every year too, and have never gotten sick from it. According to the "experts", the fact that you get sick FROM the shot is a myth, that you were already coming down with something before you got the shot.

So I took Mo into see her pediatrician today as her fever spiked to 103.6 and she was having trouble breathing. She has the flu and tomorrow I have to take her to get tested for the swine flu. :scared1: She told me Mo cannot return to school until her cough is gone, which could be 5-7 days. that is not good, not good at all. Your poor family can't catch a break.

you've got more prayers and bucketloads of :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard: coming your way.

I know. I should just be happy that we are able to get it and be quiet.

Who wants to give me their thoughts/opinions on my January itinerary???? For some reason, I am having fits with this, mainly because CP will be closed.

Wed 1/6 - arrive at AKLV around 11-12 and get snacks in the lounge, then head to MK. Wishes is tonight at 8, but I don't know if I should plan to stay for it. If we stay, where should we eat since there is no CP? I'm tired of LTT and 1900, Ohana's is getting bad reviews. We could eat at either CM or Tony's I supposed. Or should we skip Wishes and go back to AKL and eat at Boma? It's been a few years since we've eaten there. Any other suggestions?

Thurs 1/7 - This day is set in stone since it's my bday and we are doing the Sunrise Safari. We'll just stay at AK all day then. Dinner is at Yachtsman.

Fri 1/8 - HS - I can't imagine being here all day. The kids really want to eat at SciFi, so we will probably have lunch here. Maybe CS for dinner at either the Commissary, Pizza Planet or back at Mara at AKL

Sat. 1/9 - Epcot - We'll probably have a big lunch or early dinner at Tutto. Tonight is our only opportunity for Spectro at 7, so if we want to see that we'll need to rush over to MK. We can stay for Wishes at 8. That's the problem with winter hours. Everything starts too early.

Sun 1/10 - Probably back to MK before heading to the airport. No meal plans yet.

Ok ---- let me have it!

Wishes Dessert Party is extended through 12/29.

Happy Anniversary, Bernadette!

I am glad Alyssa is feeling better today, Tammi.

Glynis - good thoughts again today for your Dad.

Robyn - I know Eric is sick now too. I hope this all gets through your house very quickly!!

Good afternoon, DDA! :sunny:

Today got ahead of me and now it is afternoon! The weather was unexpectedly lovely this morning so I took advantage of some time on the patio.

I also was reveling in the fact that I am in

:yay: :dance3: SINGLE DIGITS!!! :dance3: :yay:

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts and well wishes...

I honestly don't think that what we have is the swine flu but it would be nice to rule it out. The problem is the place the pediatrician sent us told me that they don't do it. But after coming home and looking on their website, they do do it.:headache::headache:I am ticked I wasted the time there this morning. So Mo and I are headed back out to get the test done.

The girls seem to be ok. Em & Lu still have coughs, Mo hasn't coughed but once this morning and that was right when she woke up. None of them have fevers. Eric's temperature seems to go up but only when he is moving around. I never had a cough, so I guess I never had the flu. I am so confused.

Hello All.

Did you notice that McDonald's has free coffee through Sept 31st? I stopped to buy Chris a large yesterday and it was free :goodvibes He got another one today. He says that Newman's Own is not a bad cup of coffee.

I hope everyone is feeling better. :wizard::wizard:Nick has a stuffy nose and post nasal cough, but says he's okay. I kinda feel like something is brewing, but nothing specific yet. The sore throat seems to be gone now.

Hmm.

For MK on your arrival day I would just eat at Cosmic Ray's or Casey's or somewhere.
Boma's quality/selection has really taken a dive. It is OK for breakfast, but we will be taking a break from dinner there.
We like Pizza Planet. Mara doesn't have much selection anymore - very basic CS offerings. Not that the food at Mara is bad - it isn't bad - it just isn't any different than you can get in the parks.

No African Stew?!?!?

No African Stew?!?!?

That's not something I would eat, so I can't say for sure.

They used to have a really good salad that they don't have now. I think now the only salads are house and Caesar. They do still have 2 soups each day, and the butternut squash soup is BETTER at Mara than it is at Boma. Mara's soup is thicker and has more flavor.

The bills are paid and the budget is done :cool1: Why does that always take so long? Now to get to the post office.

Hello DDA!

Robyn - Hope you are able to get the test this time!

I read and thought I'd responded this morning, but I guess not. We spent the morning trying to find cups for Daisies and picking up my fun drinking stuff for the CT scan tomorrow. Yum! :blech: Now I've got to finish getting ready for our meeting and find Terra something to eat. I'm starving, but this whole liquid/very light bland food diet is keeping me that way mostly. Amazing how good everything in the convenience store looks when you're not supposed to eat it!

We are one of those families! We have never gotten the flu shots & now that I have said that I have probably jinxed my family
