DDA Chapter 23

Hello DDA!

We had a marvelous day yesterday! The Liver Life Walk was a little chilly, but then it warmed up to a beautiful day for the zoo, a little Ted Drewes and last night's bonfire. I want this family's house! It is on a nice sized piece of hilly and wooded property, but with plenty of level area too. It feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, yet it's less than 15 minutes to everything we do regularly - Target, grocery store, library, park, Krisit's, Mom's, etc. Glorious! Most of all, the kids had a blast running around like crazy, swinging on the tire swing, riding in the tractor haycart, roasting marshmallows and checking out the chickens.

Jennifer - I hope you're feeling better!

Deb - Good luck getting wood cleared at camp.

Tammi - Congrats to Nicholas! Good luck on the floors.

Becky - We've had so much rain here too, it's been crazy.

Anne Marie - Yeah for being packed! In case I don't make it back much before you leave...have a great trip!!

Hope You Had A Great Day
Hunter!

Happy belated birthday Hunter

After a horrendous night I ended up at Urgent Care this morning, I've had what I believe to be a sinus headache for days now, last night it got to the point I almost had DH take me to the ER, I made it till this morning and went to UC, she seems to think that it could be something else and wants me to have a CT, so I left there with a shot of Toradol, a prescription for Fioricet/Codiene and orders for a CT. I don't think I'm going to rush out and have the CT done, I really still feel like it's sinus related.

Ouch! That does not sound fun, Debbie. I hope that the headache clears up soon on it's own and is just sinus, but don't wait too long on the CT either. :wizard: :grouphug:

Debbie  with all the health problems that you've had lately it might not be a bad idea to get the CT done.

We helped Nick with a writing assignment tonight. This is what we came up with

My parent’s like to make me work
I say no and look like a jerk
They cut and pile lots of wood
And tell me it will do me good
They want my room **** and span
‘cause it’ll make me a better man
I want to hide I want to sleep
I try not to make a peep
They wake me up before Eleven
And expect me to help Uncle Kevin
They won’t ever give me a break
So injuries I have to fake
First my knee and then my finger
All these injuries do linger
Why don’t they just understand?
It’s not work that makes a man
I go to school and get good grades
After that my enthusiasm fades
I promise I will go to college
In search of gaining employment knowledge
I’ll get a job that much is true
No manual labor will I have to do
I’ll use my brain not my brawn
They’ll work for me from then on
I’ll get married and have a son
I’ll remember to let him have fun
I’ll be the parent and make him work
And then he’ll think that I’m a jerk
He’ll turn out great just like me
It will take time, just wait and see

We moved about 10 cord of wood off the hill into a pile at the bottom. It was alot of work, but we had friends and family to share the workload. After we got home I filled the wood shed, loaded the furnace and changed the outside lightbulbs that were burnt out. I also cleaned the garbage out of my car. After I came in and cleaned myself up I helped Nick and Hunter wil homework. I think we've got is all finished now. Maybe we can relax until bedtime.

Has anyone here had any experience with renting a scooter for Disney? My mom and grandma will be going to Disney for one day during a stop on the cruise and she wants to get a scooter for my grandma...I have no idea if there is an outside company or if you do it thorugh disney?

Deb - I love the poem! That is great. Sounds a lot like the "mean mom" poem my aunt game my grandma several years ago. It was about how "mean" she was for insisting that friends come to the door, not honk; insisting on meeting dates before they went out; insisting that chores and homework be done; insisting that they eat their vegetables, etc.

We had a fun night at the church's Trunk or Treat despite a little rain in the middle. The kids got a lot of candy so we may pick some favorites and then use the rest to start out the giveaway bowl for Saturday night. Not to mention Terra's party she's now having Saturday afternoon. The kids loved the "hayride" through the parking lot in the hay-filled truck beds. Now, it's just time to get things moving towards another week. Right now we look pretty open Wed-Fri, but what do you want to bed that changes. ;)

Have a great week everyone!

I was told that they can get one at BoardWalk... they are from Buena Vista Scooters, I think.

There are several outside companies that offer better pricing for longer stays, but for just one day I'd probably just do Disney's scooters. They are $45 per day with a $20 refundable deposit. From outside sources they are $30 for one day, but then you'd have to mess with getting it delivered, to the park and back again just for the one day. Plus, if it's just a cruise stop, where would they have it delivered? (An outside source was definitely the best option the time I needed one for a while week, though.) Now, that said, if you are going to be there on a really busy day, outside might be the better option unless you are going early and not park hopping. The parks do sometimes run out of scooters, but I'd say only really during the really busy times. Hope that helps!

Debbie - PLEASE take care of yourself. I hope you feel better in a dya or so.

Deb - You all were really busy today! I liked Nick's poem!

Anne Marie - :yay: for getting the packing done!

Friday evening we are headed back to the winery for this! They are having a Haunted Taste & Treats pairing! Since I am a member of their Wine Club it is only $15 pp, so it seems like a great deal.[/B]

Menu is:
Pumpkin cheesecake paired with Chardonnay
Caramel Apple Crumble paired with Vin de Paille (their Ice Wine)
Balsamic Hazelnut Truffles paired with Cabernet Franc
Dark Chocolate Mousse paired with Rabelos Port

So Tia what are the plans for Terra's Halloween Party.

I think we're going to paint little pumpkins, play pin the tail on the black cat, guess the candy corns in the jar, dance to Halloween music and she's working on a couple of more game ideas. For food we're making spooky cakes, some kind of fun punch, and maybe decorate cookies.

She's also made several decorations for the party of her own creation. A really cute pumpkin, a Frankenstein face and a warewolf. She says she has plans for more.

Jen - If Buena Vista does have a pick up area onsite, that would be a good choice.

Elin - That menu sounds delicious!

How is it only 7:45?!?! Terra was just asking to go on the computer. I started to turn and say "we need to get ready for bed soon", but caught the time just before I spoke. I swear it feels more like 10! I think I'm going to turn the computer over to her, go find my jammies, grab some pumpkin bread and find something to watch on tv. Maybe football won't have messed up the schedule too much this week and I'll actually be able to watch Cold Case, plus I caught that new Three Rivers show last week and think I like that one too.

Walker Mobility is who we (work) uses. They give an AAA discount and has a website. Though a park rental may work too...
