Small vent. The phone just rang. I answered.

Me: Hello
Her: Hello?
Me: Hello?
Her: Hello?
Now I'm annoyed.
Her: Can I speak with Nick?
Me: No, he's not here. Who's calling?
Her: Ok.
Me: Who is this?
Her: This is Nick's friend.
Really? More annoyed.
Me: What is your name?
Her: This is XXXXX.
Me: Ok. He won't be back until tomorrow night.
Her: Ok. Click.

Is it me? Am I too hard on kids? Do I expect too much from them? Is it too much for kids to learn how to talk on the phone before they use it?

Sorry Tammi but I went thru this same thing when my kids were little. The friends also called after 9pm and when they did, I read the riot act to my kids and their friends.

Bad phone etiquette drives me crazy...although I can cut some slack to the kids...but adults who do it :scared1::scared1:

Elin the pin set came today, thank you. I will mail a check on Monday.

So when you go to a carnival what are your favorite games? Also what type of prize entices you to play a game? What are your kids favorite carnival games? What type of prize makes your kids want to play a carnival game?

Our Relay theme this year is Hope Carnival and I am trying to decide what game or games for our team to run.

Thanks!

I don't go to carnivals since dad passed, and I never played the games.
However my sister played pop the balloons with darts, and fill a balloon with water gun (both of those usually you won a small stuffy) also pitch a ping pong ball into a small fish bowl and win a gold fish.

Well im off to get ready and go out...We got free Box seats for a country concert (Zac Brown Band). So my cousin and I are headed to the show--of course its rainy and cold so im dressing in TONS of layers...have a great night!

The DIS is wonky for me... Posts are missing. I was on here last night and then earlier this morning and the postings from Janet and Vicki were not there at all!

And, Bernadette - the post about the AP pincode was under Beth's user name! I am not kidding. I went back and double checked!

I have shut down the computer, done a scan (nothing found) and restarted Firefox, so hopefully it is taken care of now.

Meanwhile... Janet - I am glad to hear that your niece and her precious cargo are OK, and Vicki - I am hoping for Katrina's homecoming. I am glad she is learning about this guy's true colors now, not later..

That is weird! I only wish I had an AP and and AP pin code! :rotfl: When I saw that you addressed the question to me, I thought that you had just mistyped.

Thank you Becky! Bob loves the outfit, he laughed when we opened it...Alex is going to grow orange and black stripes with all these Tigger items! :rotfl:

Is anyone on here able to put a castle in the background of this picture?

How's this? Or do you want a more realistic castle?

We are having a late dinner tonight. I had a horrible headache so spent a couple of hours in bed this afternoon. That never happens to me. I made some bruschetta. Yummy. I don't know why I love that stuff so much but I have been craving it for months.

My meatloaf is just getting done. Double yummy!!! Off to eat dinner.

For our December travelers to Disney, What are your dates?

We are too...obviously not as late as you.

Let me see if I can catch up:

Amy-you and Sammy will be in my prayers for peace to surround you the rest of this pregnancy.

Anne Marie-Abi is a bit disorganized....I've always blamed it on her genius. :rotfl2: She is better this year...only 3 missing assignments at the midterm break. All need to be turned in on Monday whether she gets credit or not. Also, part of her problem is going from 2 semi-advanced classes to 3 advanced and 1 super advanced class (her Language Arts is actually more of a 9th/10th grade class) so there was a HUGE learning curve in amount and quality of work expected.

I know some of you were complaining about the weather...you are welcome:rotfl2:that was the stuff we had last week.

My interview went well on Thursday....I REALLY WANT THIS JOB!!! I should know by Tuesday.

For all of you I missed :grouphug::flower3: and :wizard: to you all. I have been extremely busy with the band the last couple of days...they have advanced to state Semi-finals (by the skin of their teeth) and actually improved point wise today at DCMI. Cassidy loved our campus visit to the University of Northern Colorado. Cassidy was the host for the UNC band on Monday evening and contacted the director Tuesday and was able to arrange to sit in on one of his classes...Conducting. We then had a lunch break...being broke I had packed a lovely picnic lunch which Jim left here:headache: so we ended up at McDonald's:sick: and I now know where a LOT of the bathrooms are on campus. :rotfl2: I am so not ready for Cassidy to be hit on by college guys. :lmao:

I have been home about 2 hours a day all week....I am so ready for tomorrow...a do nothing day....except laundry. :rotfl:

The kids like the idea of tossing the rings onto the tops of bottles or tossing dimes onto plates. For small carnivals we have done a stick with a rope attached to the end with a ring at the bottom of the rope. The idea is to have a glass bottle laying on its side, use the ring to hook around the end of the bottle, then stand the bottle up. It is hard, but looks easy. We've also made a wooden tick tack toe board inside a box. Use three wiffle balls and toss them into the box, try to get tick tack toe. Not sure about prizes. Stuffies are good, but rubber bracelets would work, cheap jewerly, tops, jump ropes, etc.

Chris and I are jealous. We love the Zac Brown Band. Toes is our favorite song and reminds us of Mexico:love:

I have a laminator, it is similar to this one. I got it a few years ago on Black Friday for free after rebate. The one I have takes things up to 9 inches wide and is run by electricity and uses laminating pouches.

I know that Xyron has a few styles that do not require electricity. Some of their models you can get laminating paper that has magnetic or sticky backs. You can get these at Michael's, AC Moore, or Jo Anne's with their % off coupons. Or they put them on sale from time to time.
thanks Becky

Look at this cool cake!!
