DDA Chapter 22

Good evening, DDA!

Another day another craziness around here. One of my cousins and her husband stopped here yesterday on their way home from a wedding. We grilled, hung out for awhile and then hit Ted Drewes for dessert. Today, Kristi, Rachel and I took the kids to the lake/park for a bike ride. Terra rode the whole 2 miles with little complaint (though she's a little nervous of anything resembling a hill after her spill a few weeks ago). Kristi's kids didn't fare quite as well, in part because Connor's bike is just a little too big apparently and Kassie's seat was too low and she wouldn't let Kristi raise it before we left - she's learned her lesson there. After that, we met the cousins at Chick Fil A for free chicken sandwiches before they hit the road for home. Now we're home and just hanging out. I cleaned out my car, vacuuming and all, and now need to get started on finishing up plans for our first Daisy meeting tomorrow.

Whew, no wonder I'm often tired! I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend!

On Saturday night my Aunt and 2 other firends decided we were going to NYC on Sunday. We left around 7 am Sunday and got back around 4am on today.

We entered our names in the lottery for Wicked but were sadly not selected.

So we wandered around the city. Went to Times Square, Chinatown, Little Italy, and Ground Zero and the sites in between.

I will upload pics, but photobucket and facebook are being annoying. Surprisingly none of my friends posted on facebook for over 20 hours Saturday. Friday none posted for 9 hours. Let's just say I know that is impossible as I saw some of the posts that were in those time frames, facebook now says are blank.;)

Elin- NYC now has duck tours. I saw the loading area but did not see them wandering around.

It was very crowded in the city which I figured it would be since it was a holiday weekend. We had a long, but tiring day.

Becky - Facebook has been doing some VERY creative things all weekend. The news feeds are way off - things appear and disappear randomly.

I know as at one point the latest post was from Friday at like noon. I wanted to get caught up on things since I really did not look at it much this weekend and that idea went out the window.

We got on the train around midnight, we had to wait until it left. It is about a 10 minute train till the park and ride. Then till we got to our car. It is about a 2 hr 15 minute car ride. We stopped twice. Then I had to drive home from where we met.

Goodbye summer. :(

I spent the day laboring.....mowing and weedeating. Then we went to the pool for a while for the last hoorah of summer. Of course it wouldn't be Labor Day without a cookout so we grilled burgers and dogs. The kids are showered, their clothes are picked out for their big first day, backpacks are packed, and now they are watching a little tv before bedtime.

Jen did we miss skydiving pictures? Chris and I NEED to see them;)
Just PMed you a link--sorry, i put them on facebook but forgot not everyone is on there. If there is anyone else that wnats to see them, PM me and il lsend you the link!

Goodbye to summer :(

We're back. I know that I said we were meeting elderly relatives, but I need to correct myself. The couple is 80 years old and they act like 40 year olds. They just got back from an adventure in Equador and the Gulapicous Islands. They took small boats on the Amazon, hiked mountains in knee deep water in the Rain Forest and came home with amazing pictures. She said that you have to be able to run a flight of stairs without the rail in order to even sign up for one of these adventures. One stairway they climbed was 37 flights  I only hope that I'm in that good a shape at 60. They loved our Cancun pictures and amazingly they've never been there. They have travelled all over the world.

I am not ready for school to start either. :(
