DDA Chapter 22

So I just walked in my house after the mammo...and my phone was ringing...I ran to answer it and it was the hospital calling :scared1: They were letting me know that everything was good!!! :yay::yay:What service!!

I am glad it was good news!!

Tia - Sorry you had issues with Phil tonight. I had them with my older DD. We have agreed to disagree, but I said things to her that I have never said to either of my children before and she knew I was

Thanks, Elin. This is definitely a agree to disagree situation so hopefully it won't come up again since neither of us plan to change our response. I'm glad things are working out for you guys. Even better that Kathrin is coming home! :cool1: Enjoy your time!

Good morning, DDA! Oops, guess it's afternoon already for most of us and close for the rest. Time is flying! Not too much going on here today. Terra is asking for help building a Tinker Toy playground so I guess that's at the top of my list after the computer. Otherwise, just the usual house stuff. To quote Chase, "Boring, boring, boring." Maybe we'll do some Disney planning in a little bit. That will liven things up a bit. Still working on thinking of something good for our "family weekend". At the very least we'll have a game night or something like that. I'd like to make it a little special with something different for dinner. Maybe an appetizer/dessert night...I don't know.

Oooo! Just noticed that 2010 prices are out (guess I missed something). Now I know what I'll be doing today!!! :cool1::banana::dance3:

Elin - Have a wonderful visit with your DD, the house doesn't matter and you can always go out for food. As much as I love my oldest DD we often "butt heads" my youngest says it's because we are so much alike. :confused3

That is partially, it, Debbie. She and I both texted Kristin and said we were having a "knock-down, drag-out" fight. The exact same words. :rotfl2:

Has anyone heard when they will be filming the Christmas parade? I think it may end up being the DDA weekend.

Debbie can't wait to see the cake, I know it will look great! I am so not a baker, I ordered Rileys cake from the bakery at the store :rolleyes1 We were going to stay out of town over night for his b-day & take him & Garrett to a place with go carts, wall climbing, ect. But that is out now. We will stay home & his friends can come over. I wanted to do something special for his 13th, but with his injuries not sure what that would be right now :confused3

Elin glad to hear Kathrin will be visiting!

Kristine that was quick on your results, glad all is well!

Tia have fun Disney planning!

I am off work now till Monday :yay::yay::yay:

Yes it will be, we just stayed clear of MK last year & had no problems.

I am pretty sure it is that weekend, which is why we are going to MK on Sunday. They tape mostly on Friday and Saturday. I have heard the front of the park is a madhouse, but even if you go during taping once you get beyond Main St. it's not bad!

so it's for sure that the Candlelight processional is 2 TS credits....:confused3 seems too much to me

That was our experience. Once you get to the castle (following the usual "cut through the shops" advice), it's clear sailing past there. At least until the filming is over for the day anyway. We actually had some good experiences by hanging out near the castle for awhile. The next groups up father just past the hub until it's their turn to film. Terra got to play with Santa's reindeer for awhile and got lots of attention from the parade performers as well - elves, bakers, etc.

"Long distances and modern-day technology do not good bedfellows make." ~ E. Havrilla

You know what is wrong with email and texting? Inflections and intent are never apparent. Emotions cannot really be expressed in the fast flurry of fingers no matter how well one writes. I don't think my older daughter will ever rely on those methods of communication with me again.

Anyway, things are better after a long phone call last night/this morning, but I am throwing that statement out there for all of you to heed. You may quote me, if you wish. ;)

The upshot of all this is that I get to see my first-born this weekend. She is coming "home" for the first time in almost 2 years! (The last time she was here was for Christmas 2007.) I know that sounds odd when you all know how close we are but our traveling habits and her move to Boston have made being here almost unnecessary. And when she was living in Richmond we were together a lot, so coming home didn't hold the same meaning for us as it does for most families.

My house is seriously a wreck and there is no food in the house and I am working all day but she is coming home. That is what really matters. :lovestruc
Glad she's coming home! I'm sure she won't care about the house!

I have to agree about the technology thing.:thumbsup2

Janet-poor Riley!:wizard:Hope he heals quickly!!! Can't you do something fun for his bday when he's better-just do a cake on the actual day?

Jen-glad you made it to TX safely and eventually made it to your hotel! Have a great time!

Bernadette,
I am loving your pictures. I felt so bad that last day when it started to pour so I agree, you have to have a do over last day!:thumbsup2 If you get a chance can you email me the picture of all our kids by the space phone. I do not have that one...I am so glad we got together.
Thanks! I was really worried that Gene would have that as his memory of the trip after all I did to try to keep it low key but I guess not because he has already said "when we go back...."

I'll send the space phone photo. Joe & I had read about it in one of our books and found it for the first time in May. It is fun!

I spoke to the Asst. Principal this morning. The "Disciplinary Committee" has decided NOT to use lockers anymore. It is supposedly NOT due to overcrowding. She did say that due to budget restraints they will only have a "classroom" set of books, so the kids will not be allowed to take the books home. That settles the matter of lugging the books around. It also explains why EACH student is expected to provide EACH teacher with a REAM of paper. :headache: What a crock. Nothing like passing the budget crunch on to the parents. I will think about sending paper. The thing that chaps me is that the kids who DON'T bring paper will reap the benefits of the paper the other kids DO bring. On the other hand, I don't want the teachers to have to buy paper OOP! :sad2: Crummy situation all the way around.
Glad he won't have to drag books around. The budget stuff is annoying.

So I just walked in my house after the mammo...and my phone was ringing...I ran to answer it and it was the hospital calling :scared1: They were letting me know that everything was good!!! :yay::yay:What service!!
:woohoo:Great news! I really have to call and make an appointment!

Has anyone heard when they will be filming the Christmas parade? I think it may end up being the DDA weekend.
:scared1:Thanks for the heads up! I wonder if taking the train to some other part of the park is a good option?

so it's for sure that the Candlelight processional is 2 TS credits....:confused3 seems too much to me
I agree it isn't worth 2 credits. How much out of pocket?

Bernadette - I saw on a thread earlier today that the price for the CP for adults at Le Cellier is like $65. It includes soup, salad, entree, dessert BUT it is a set menu. It also includes reserved seating for IllumiNations. The CP isn't my cup of tea to begin with, so I don't care. I just hope I can get a dinner ADR without buying the stupid CP package! (I want to go to Coral Reef, not Le Cellier.) If I can't get Coral Reef I will book Flying Fish.

Sooo...

I just called and flipped my Dec. ressie back to an AP rate room only. :rolleyes1 The "free" dining was $700 more. Subtract the cost of 3 single day tickets and the package came in $23 less than adding dining plan at full price. $23 off is NOT free! Now I just need to decide if I want to buy a new TiW card in December or just wait until next year. That will be largely decided by what ADRs I am able to book. If I get crummy ADRs then I won't buy a new card.

I added our flight info to Magical Express so that is all set.

I wish I knew our 2010 dates for certain. Airfare for the dates I have booked is low, but the change fee would make it decidedly NOT low! :scared1: So I need to wait. I hate waiting! :headache: Stupid vacation bid.

Whoa, Nelly!!! When did the TiW go up to $75? Is that cost a reflection of this fabulous new name? So we would have to spend $380 on TS food to break even on the cost of the card. Hmmmm. :scratchin Perhaps NOT a new TiW card in December. Of course if we wait there is the chance they will raise the price again. :headache: Decisions, decisions...

Elin - YAY for Kathrin coming home to visit! Sorry about the fight, though. At least all is good.

Kristine - what wonderful service. Glad the mammo was a-ok.

It seems a blessing that we aren't going in December this year. I really enjoy the CP and would hate to 1. spend $65pp on the package, or 2. use 2 TS credits. That really blows. This was our last trip with the DDP since Nicholas will turn 10 in December. I guess I will be the next to invest in the TiW.

Janet - I'm off until Monday too! Let's party!

I stopped at Redbox on my way home and got The Haunting in Connecticut. Anyone seen it?

We just got home from the kids new school orientation & meet the teachers. Both schools seem great & the teachers were very personable & enthusiastic. Everything I heard so far I like & the kids (even Katie) love their schools already (thankfully).

Daniel was put in a class with gifted kids who learn at his rate but will have gym, art, & french with the kids from the other classes which I like. Sophie & Katie get to take french too. (only spanish was offered at their old school so they excited to try something different) If they learn well we'll have to plan a trip to Disneyland Paris!:rotfl2:

School here starts Tuesday & now they are all excited.

Tammi,
We didn't do the DDP this trip & used the DDE card. We came in about even if we did do the DDP. Daniel is 10 & they charged him as an adult at all the buffets so we didn't always get the advantage of him ordering off the kids menu.

Tammi - Our grand total for food/drinks/snacks was $2131.86 over the entire 14 nights of our trip. We ate breakfast in the lounge about 7 mornings, so that helped. Having the basic DDP would have cost $1680, but tips and appetizers wouldn't have been included. AND those 6 signature dinners would have burned through the TS credits pretty quickly so we still would have been paying OOP for some of our meals. DxDDP would have been $2940 and still would not have included tips. :scared1: We came out WAAAAYYY ahead with the DDE card. :thumbsup2
