DDA Chapter 22

So I e-mailed the counselor and had her switch DS to a plain 8th grade math class. It worked quite well - same teacher he had last year, same 3rd period time slot he has Algebra so it didn't mess up his other classes. Hopefully this will be a good thing.

I just finished reading "Big Fish". I think, for the first time ever, I liked the movie better. I didn't dislike the book, I just liked the movie better. Some parts of the move were more palatable. And I am not sure DS is going to be able to get through the book without help.

Things with flashbacks confuse him, and the book is not only mostly flashbacks, it is flashbacks of myth-like things that didn't actually happen. I am afraid that will really befuddle him. I am REALLY glad I read it first. Now as he reads we can discuss it and I can make sure he understands before he becomes an object of ridicule among his peers. ;) Actually, I am not sure any of them will understand it any better than he would. But I will help him, so by the time the class discusses it he will have a firm grip on the topic.

Hi, DDA!

Quick fly-by post to let you guys know that Austin arrived safely at 7:57 this morning. He weighed 6 lbs, 5 ozs and was 19 inches long. We are just thrilled with him, and appreciate everyone's prayers and PD.

I will post pics as soon as possible, but as I'm still being treated for BP issues (with the dreaded mag drip), I can barely keep my eyes open and am not mobile as of yet. But I have high hopes for tomorrow.

Good night, DDA!
:welcome:Baby Austin!!!!pirate:

:wizard:Hope you have a quick recovery!:wizard:

Better thanks, she had to come home early yesterday because her head hurt but she went today. I had all her forms signed so the nurse can give her an advil so hopefully she will be able to get through the day. Thanks for asking.
Hope she had a good day!!!

I still owe you a photo! I haven't put them on my Mac desktop yet and can't figure out how to send it on my laptop.

Glad you were able to easily change the math class!!

That book sounds like it would befuddle me!

We split and piled a cord of wood tonight in a light rain  I've also managed to pack. We don't need much, but since it could be cold or warm or rain, we need a few options. We are hoping to leave by 7 tomorrow so hopefully I've remembered most things.

I'm sure you guys will have a blast!!!!

I was checking my January flights to see if my flight to MCO had dropped and noticed that my flight home was changed from depart Orlando at 7:15pm arrive BOS 10:05pm to depart 9:17pm arrive 11.59pm. I got that changed to depart 3:50pm arrive 6:44pm. I'm sure that flight had been changed too or I would have booked that originally. I think that flight was arriving around the 5pm rush hour. I'm glad I saw it right away-the agent said they made the change at 5:30 tonight-as I was able to keep my row 7 seats-close but no extra fee.

They also changed my flight to MCO from depart BOS at 10:20 am to 11:10am. BUT the next earlier flight is 7:35am. I just couldn't get to Logan that early easily and when I checked yesterday the Hyatt at Logan was $180. I could have gotten it before our Dec flight for $125 so I'll keep an eye out on the Hyatt price and if that drops I'll get my outbound flight changed too.

I think I'm turning in. I've got some loose ends to tie up in the morning so I might as well get some sleep while I can. I'm not bringing my computer so I won't check in until at least Sunday night. Have a great weekend.

Have fun, Deb!

Anne-Marie, did you hear about this?!! Swoon!!!

Johnny Depp, arguably the biggest movie star in the world, surprised the audience of Walt Disney Co.'s D23 Expo in Anaheim by sailing on stage in his famous pirate regalia.

As 5,000 fans jumped to their feet, the star emerged in full character, with his bleary ballet of the forever besotted Jack Sparrow.

Cracking wise about rum he also said he'd like a little snack -- that nice frog named Kermit who had been on stage earlier and "probably tastes like chicken."

Disney executive Dick Cook played the straight man for the short presentation and it was the least he could do: The "Pirates" franchise has pulled in more than $1 billion in domestic box-office alone and Depp is also on tap for a fourth, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in 2011. Depp is also starring Alice in Wonderland and The Lone Ranger for the Mouse House.

Depp arrived on stage in gliding replica of the Black Pearl pirate ship and, before they saw his famous face, the crowd was cheering at the sight of his silhouette behind a billowing back-lit sail and pumping stage smoke. Depp was the big finale in a program that featured appearances by John Travolta, Nicolas Cage, Tim Burton and a performance by Miley Cyrus.

Deb - I hope you all have fun this weekend!

I don't think I told you all (because I never write trip reports or post pictures ;) ), but when we were at at MK in January, there was a couple insisting Johnny Depp was performing the Pirate Tutorial that day. They were both certifiable...apparently they had been watching every performance that day (we were there for the last one), and the woman showed me a good 50 pictures of an actor who resembled Johnny but was definitely not him. I think I watched them more than the actual performance, because they were completely star-struck. :rotfl:

You may have been watching a good friend of Kristin's then! He went to work for WDW right after he graduated a couple of years ago and almost immediately landed the Jack Sparrow gig!

I think I am gonna go broke to DCL in 2011. Or I need to win the lottery.

Disney Magic is going to the Mediterranean
Disney Wonder is going to Alaska
Plus the previously announced new ship Disney Dreams.

I wanna do the repo cruise from Los Angeles to Vancouver and then the 1st Alaska cruise. Plus the Inaugural Disney Dreams cruise. I can Dream right.;)

Can't book until the end of September. Requesting quotes for the Wonder though so once prices come out we can decide and have a potential room.
