Eek  at least ours is only for 1 day. Once its time for the race, 115 turns into both lanes going one direction, and then the opposite direction when its time for the race to let out. So we would need an alternate route for just a few hours.

Heidi - I-95 and I-64 are bumper to bumper for over a hundred miles (I am not kidding) on beach weekends. It is horrible. It can take us 8+ hours to make the drive on a Saturday. And the trip is only about 225 miles from here.

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

I slept in until 7:00 this morning and then spent the next two hours on my patio reading and drinking my coffee. It was a glorious way to start my day! :)

I have everything about ready for my last two recitals tonight and then I am onvacation for two weeks!

I want to mow the lawn so I am off here and headed outside again. Have good days, everyone! :goodvibes

Good morning friends,

DH wants to go see "Drag me to H***" today, just the previews give me the heebie jeebies. :scared1:

those ads give me the heebie jeebies too....hopefully that is as bad as it gets.

I've managed to talk him in to Hangover instead, now I better go get myself ready to go.

that one didn't look much better.....not a whole lot of variety too chose from at the movie theater....good thing I have no money to go. :lmao:

Hi DDA,

Well our first night was not the best ever. About 11:30 last night the smoke alarms went off and we thought someone was just too close to the downstairs door smoking and that was what caused them to go off. Well after that, every, I mean EVERY hour after that some or all went off. First with a little beep and then the full blast. Finally at 6:30 this morning we were all awake because they were going off with no intention of stopping. This was after a night of cursing, swapping, hitting or whatever you do in your sleep in the middle of the night to make the noise go away!!!! :lmao::rotfl:

We called the realty co and they really never responded until we called again after 9am. Finaly at 11:30 this am someone came and started looking at each of the dectors and found the problem. lets just hope he did indeed find the problem cause if this happens again tonight, we will really be pi**ed off. I have already taken a nap but the kiddies and others will be taking naps this afternoon when they get back from the beach.

BUT on the good side, I managed to get three bloody marys under my belt before i took the nap!!!!!! :lmao: I swear I do not do that ever but today was a special circumstance and since I am not driving,, what the hay.

Have a great day everyone :goodvibes

Terry-have a great vacation!

Kristine-Hope Jaquie had a great dance.

Good morning friends,

DH wants to go see "Drag me to H***" today, just the previews give me the heebie jeebies. :scared1:
Glad you are seeing something else. I went to see Up with some coworkers Friday night and there were some teenage girls going to see that.:scared1: I have to say I enjoyed Up even more the 2nd time around and all my friends loved it too.

I've been a real funk. I know some of it has to do with the meeting on Joe on Monday. The "team" of his teacher, the adjustment counselor, behaviorist, speech therapist, and occupational therapist all concluded that Joe has "social and processing deficits" that "severly" impact his education and they say that qualifies him for a 504 ed plan and came up with some accomodations. They came to this conclusion by observing Joe in the classroom and at recess. They all agree Joe is very smart but he can't finish his work in a timely manor and can't seem to follow multi step directions. The thing that gets me is that I thought I agreed to testing Joe back in February and in fact asked his teacher if I didn't have to put it in writing. They did NOT test Joe to determine what is causing his processing difficulties. How can they determine accomodations without knowing what is causing the issues? I am so mad. And so mad at myself. I knew it had to be requested in writing. Now another school year has gone by. I called Joe's pediatrician and she said I had to go through the school. She said private testing isn't covered by insurance and that it would likely cost about $3,000. I tried calling the facility Thursday to see how much it would cost and how soon they could do it but I called at 3:30 and they are only there Mon-Thu 8:00 - 3:00.

I also booked a room last week. The summer codes had to be booked by yesterday so since DH has done nothing to plan a trip for this summer I figured it wouldn't hurt to book a room. I susggested to him that we do 1 week in Canada and 1 week in Disney. I was hoping that maybe if I agree to a more relaxed trip to WDW he might enjoy it. I booked 1 week Wed 7/29 to Wed 8/5 in a Lagoon View Club Level room at Poly. It was cheaper than 1BR at AKL. I didn't book airfare and right now would have to say the chance that we actually do it are pretty slim. I don't know that I want to spend that much money-even at 36% off it is still pricey and Canada won't be cheap either.

So now what do I do? Be satisfied with the 2 nights on the Cape with DH's family as our vacation this year? OR do I try to help DH plan a trip to Canada? He's supposed to be doing the planning. He can't decide where to get the passport photos taken. I really don't want to bail him out. I told him last August he had to plan. I got him all the tourist info, I got him the passport info.....I would help him if he asked but I don't see that happening either.

Elizabeth-I just don't know what to say about your Mom & Diva. I've never met and I am mad about their choices I just can't imagine how frustrating this must be for you.

DS soooo wants to see that. I told him NO.

Yeah. They are infuriating.
DS wants me to call my mom today, but really, I am too angry to talk to her. I just wonder what other things are going on that she hasn't bothered to mention.

I am sorry the school is being so backwards. I do hope you can work out some vacation plans for this summer. Of course I want you to come to WDW, but Canada is better than no vacation at all!

Terry-hope you get another nap in and a good night's sleep tonight!!!!

Terry, that sounds like a rough night! I do hope they fixed the problem for you! :wizard:

In other news...

I have a stye on the bottom lashline of my left eye. It looks lovely.

Sam's has the teeth whitening people there, and I am HUGELY tempted to go have it done. But I just can't seem to take that plunge. $190 for something that might not work is holding me back.

DS is very pouty today. Partly because I said he will NOT be getting a $3000 electronic drum set. The other part I suspect is because he wants to go swimming, but DH REFUSES, and I mean R E F U S E S, to take him to the pool on weekends. If he keeps pouting I may have to take him myself. The thing that annoys me most is that DS won't SAY that's what he wants to do. He just slouches and pouts and waits for us to GUESS what he wants to do. :headache:

Bernadette, I don't know what to tell you other then no way would I bail out DH. It sounds like he is purposefully dragging his feet so you will do it.

We finally had someone come and check every smoke detector in the place and he ended up replacing two. He feels very confident that will take care of the problem. He did give us his card to call if it doesn't.

Guenna and I lounged by the pool and I got in a few times and then showered and took a two hour nap. Time to get in a few more drinks for everyone!!!! :lmao:

I don't think an unplanned vacation with someone who does not travel well and 3 children who aren't used to long car trips is better than no vacation. What I can't decide is a trip to WDW with mr cranky better than no trip to WDW.

I did email IPO for a few ADR's just in case.....

I really don't think he's hoping I will do it. He's hoping the summer will come & go and no one will notice that we didn't go anywhere.

They look beautiful. Jackie has changed so much.

Nick is going to the 8th grade dance next Saturday. I'm interested to see what everyone wears around here. Nick is only in 7th grade, but he has to go since he is an usher at 8th grade grad.

Thanks for all the kind words about Jackie :)

Yep...times have changed. I was thinking of my 8th grade dance...and for whatever reason I can still remember the dress...long sleeve, lacy number with a high neck and below the knee :rotfl:as you can see...lace is out :rotfl2:

I wore a blue floral gunnie sack dress with white lace at the top and bottom. It was full neck and below the knees with long sleeves :rotfl:

Belated birthday wishes to Daniel and Kirsten!!!

:hug:I totally understand your frustrations with Joe's school. I have been going through the same thing and it sure isn't easy. I'm just praying that Colby matures a lot over the summer.

As far as vacation goes maybe you could not do so much this summer and have a nicer/different vacation next year. That is our theory anyway. We will do a few weekend camping trips, use our season passes to Six Flags and do a one week camping trip to Maine, nothing overly exciting or expensive, but next years trip will more than make up for it :goodvibes

I hope you can figure it out. (Have you thought of a summer cruise for next year :rolleyes1)

We had a nice weekend. I forgot a few things for the camper, but nothing life altering. The weather was okay, a bit overcast, but we still managed to get sunburned through the clouds. The kids (and Chris of course) loved the water trampoline. I thought that I'd swim out to use it, but the water was so cold I knew that I'd end up with hives  The campground wasn't as nice as the website led us to believe, but it wasn't horrible either. The kids rode their bikes a lot and the even talked to other campers which is unusual for them. I guess we'll chalk it up to a good weekend :thumbsup2

Terry, that sounds like a rough night! I do hope they fixed the problem for you! :wizard:

Hangover is definitely not a movie for kids, too much se**al content.

Debbie - There is no way I would take him to an "R" movie. There are things on TV that are too explicit (like the crap on Adult Swim), and I make him change the channel. But he watches them when I am not in the room.

He starts Band camp tomorrow. I REALLY wish we didn't have to deal with the bus for that, but it is what it is. Hopefully it won't be too bad. It is too far for me to be able to drop him off and pick him up. We will pick him up on Friday because there is a concert for them to show what they have learned. But that will be easy becasue DH is off on Friday - Princess and I will come by our house and get DH, then we'll all go to the concert at 4 PM.

Good luck with figuring out what you are going to do. Coming from someone who's been in a relationship with someone that couldn't/wouldn't plan his way out of a paper bag, I would have a vacation planned for myself and the kids and leave him at home. I know he doesn't want you taking all the kids by yourself, but I do think you have a say in it too.
