DDA Chapter 19

I refuse to buy the magazine or join the 'club'. Although it is a brilliant marketing campaign. Get people to pay for their infomercial, and pay for their advertising which makes US buy more stuff!

With that said, depending on how well you enablers operate, I could change my mind. ;)

I was thinking the same thing.

I need some advice from those of you who have planned longer Disney trips (Anne Marie, Elizabeth, to name a few).

We always "plan" in a sleep in day but have never done it. We end up getting up & being at the park at rope drop or pretty darn close to it & staying all day, every day. We have had a pool morning once & we were all itching to get back into the parks so I do not know if I am any help. I hope since we will be there 14 days (our longest trip yet) that we will stop & relax alittle, hang at the pool, & the like but I can't honestly say we will.

I see you have the answer about seeing wishes.

Elizabeth,
Thanks for putting in the Cape May reuqest.

Good Morning DDA!!

I was asleep before 11 and slept almost all the way through the night. :goodvibes (that hasn't happened for over a week)

Today is supposed to be gorgeous and I have a few more gift cards, hmmmmmmmmmm maybe I need another date afternoon. :goodvibes

:yay: for a good sleep and :yay: for a fun afternoon on a beautiful day!

When do Jennifer, Kyle and the girls get back? I am going into TwinWithdrawal, I think!

We always say we will swim, we always say we will go to the water park, we always say we'll go play mini golf. It never happens.

Of course last year it was so flippin' RAINY we wouldn't have been able to play mini golf!

Hi, DDA!

Welcome home, Becky and Janet! Looking forward to hearing more about your trips!

Robyn - yay for one less "kid" at home today. :thumbsup2

Tammi - yay for being done with the Science Fair! You can definitely see the fireworks from Narcoossee's - you can go out on the deck and they pipe in the music. Or, you can go to the resort launch dock and watch them (and hear the music from Narc's, as it's right next to it). Or, you can grab a snack from Gasparilla's Grille (they even have soft serve ice cream with toppings_, and sit outside at the marina, where you can see the show, too. Sometimes the music is piped in - sometimes not, in my experience.

I would also plan some early park mornings (low crowds, heat not as intense), but definitely plan a "resort day." Those are becoming my favorite days of our longer trips. :goodvibes

Anne Marie - yay for closing on your house! :yay: I hope the buyers of yours grow up, or move on! Thanks also for the review of the new D23 mag. I almost bought it at B&N yesterday, but resisted, wanting to hear more about it (and I didn't have a coupon on me ;) ). I'm iffy on what I think of this - I love the fan mags I already subscribe to (Tales from the Laughing Place, Celebrations Magazine), and the two combined are still about 1/2 the cost of this! Right now, just don't know that I can justify it. The mag seemed a bit thin to me, too, to be charing $16 for it.

And I love how they pimp it as an "online community", but there's no online community component to it - no place to make comments, message boards, etc. And they supposedly didn't even consider that!

Theresa - glad you got a good night's sleep, and hope you enjoy your day!

Glynis - hope you were able to get some rest last night!

Deb - hope the day today goes fast for you, and that you can maintain your energy. :wizard: for Colby!

Our trips are longer then most, usually 3 weeks or so. We do rope drop some days, sleep in some days, go back to the resort for swims and naps, hit the water parks, mini golf and usually DisneyQuest too. We try not to plan much, just a general idea of park hours etc then we go with the flow. It is so much more relaxing then having to go commando :goodvibes Much more fun.

When do Jennifer, Kyle and the girls get back? I am going into TwinWithdrawal, I think!
Today, I think! :cool1:

She said that she would update her blog/pictures at least once for us during the trip, but she didn't! ;)

YAY for BLT!!

And Tammi... :cool1: :dance3: :cool1: for BLT!
Thanks. It's bittersweet. Because of BLT I'm cutting the first Sat. night off the trip (I refuse to pay such high points). So we will stay Sun and Mon night at BLT and then switch over to BCV for Tues- Sun. But because of dropping one night I'm only using 150 pts instead of 166. I'm like Elin - I would love to stay at AKL Club in December, but that would take a miracle I think.

I've never switched resorts so this will be new for us. Now I need to plan my first 2 days around either Epcot or MK, I guess, for convenience sake. Maybe not. :confused3

Switching once shouldn't be bad. We'll have to switch rooms, but not resorts. Unless you count the one night in Universal, but we're just bringing backpacks to US, not switching rooms. It's kind of a waste of points, but much less hassle to just leave our stuff at AKV for one night that we aren't there.

Arrgh! I've gotten 2 thanks but no thanks in the last 24 hours....one for the foundation I really wanted to work at....and I've gotten no response to an email I sent to the one interview I had on Friday. I am so frustrated!!!

Gee, I wonder if that is why I can't sleep?? and have had a dull to roaring headache the last 3 days??

My realtor just called. We have an agreement with our buyers & we now have a contract. Our closing on my NY house is at the end of June. Yay the kids won't have to leave until the school year is over. They do get a short summer since we get out late here in the northeast & they go back early (aug 25). I am so relieved that this house is in contract & we will have the new place at the end of this month. It has been very stressful on all accounts & to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel is just so great.

I do have a question...our new home will need new appliances in the kitchen. I'd like stainless steel. We need to buy fridge, stove, micowave.hood, & dishwasher. Also a clotheswasher & dryer. Can anyone reccommend a good/reliable brand?

Theresa - :hug:s.

Anne Marie - YAY! for the contracts!! As for the appliances - I think that's kinda like asking for opinions about places to eat on the restaurant thread. One person will like it, another will hate it. That being said, all of my appliances have been Kenmore, except W/D, and they've been fine. I think it's mainly because builders' have their contracts with Kenmore, not because I chose them.

My mom had her mamo today and the tech is not sure if she saw something around the scar area of the breast that had cancer, so she had an ultrasound done also. Now to wait on the results of the ultrasound.

Anne Marie-Woohoo for good contracts!! We have a lovely set of mismatched no-name appliances:lmao: ....I will tell you that my baker friend has had nothing but trouble with her stove (I believe it's a kenmore but not sure) since she got it 2 years ago and there is no customer service to go with it anymore.

Theresa - I am sorry things aren't working out more in your favor for the interviews. Keep your chin up, sweetie.

Anne Marie - :yay: for a firm contract and closing date!! As for your appliances... I agree with Tammi. What one of us likes might not be to your taste. I would swear by GE, based on what we own. However, our major appliances are REALLY old! ;)

But, I do have a suggestion. Try asking your realtor in NC. Sometimes local suppliers work with real estate companies to offer discounts on appliances for situations just like yours.
