DDA Chapter 19

I can't get in to see the Dr. until tomorrow morning because she's not in today. :headache: The other thing that kind of chaps me is that they have a Dr. who specializes in styes (that I am going to see in the morning) and this is the first I have heard of her! I specifically told the eye Dr. that I have trouble with styes and he just shrugged it off. He never said there is another Dr. who specializes in treating them.

So today I get to suffer. I took an Advil so it isn't quite as sore, but it is 10 out of 10 on the annoyance scale!

Have I told you lately how much I hate doctors. :headache:

Tammi I am reminding you, please post your meat sauce recipe when you get home from work today.

Elizabeth - sorry about the stye. I can imagine how annoying that would be.

Janet and Jennifer - I'm so jealous!

I grabbed it on my way out the door!

2-3 small cans tomato paste w/ 1 can of water apiece
2 small cans tomato sauce
1 diced onion
1-2 cloves garlic (to taste)
1 tsp basil
1/4 tsp oregano
3 tblsp parsley
1 lb ground beef (or more if you want it meatier)
salt/pepper to taste

Brown the meat, onion and garlic; sprinkle with parsley, salt and pepper.
Drain grease
In large pot add the paste, sauce, water, meat and other spices.
Bring to a boil and then simmer 2-3 hours.

Oh I forgot to tell you all that Sophie shaved off half her eyebrow in the shower.

She didn't want to have "fuzzy" eyebrows.

So now she has half a brow over her left eye & we have her communion pictures coming up. Just grand!!!!!

Obviously I have to take my razor out of the shower so she doean't do more damage. I know one of the kids in school is going to notice & her feelings are going to get hurt since kids say exactly what they are thinking.

I am soooo looking forward to my own bathroom in a few months. I have to hid everything on the ceiling so these kids don't get to it! (including katie, as she takes my makeup!:headache: )

oh my!! Quite the picture. My sister cut her bangs off (when in middle school:scared1: ) and 2 weeks later it was the latest fad in the school....it was horrific.

My eyelid is so swollen it won't open properly, and it is incredibly sore. I had a stye that started 10 days ago, but I am thinking we have moved beyond that into something worse. I now will require medical intervention. And Princess doesn't have school today, so I guess she will get to tag along. Maybe the Dr. can call something in so I will just have to go to the pharmacy.

Have a good day, all!!

oh dear!!!I hope your eye is better quickly:hug:

Anne Marie sorry about Katies eyebrow

Elizabeth glad you are going to the Dr., I hope your eye heals quickly :wizard:

It is 14 degrees here. It is funny we are leaving tomorrow looking forward to warmer temps, the time that we are gone it is suppose to warm up & be in the 50's, maybe low 60's here. The day that we return it is suppose to drop back down to the 30's :sad2:

and right now Colorado is warmer than Florida and will be this week....and you choose Florida:confused3

So my post count is 7 per day, although I venture to guess that total is coming down every day since I post less frequently than I did when I started out on the DIS!

And as for the referrals, so that nobody loses sleep over "reported posts" (though I've had a few of my own, for sure! :rolleyes1 ), it really isn't about infractions. The vBulletin system allows you to refer other users. The DIS doesn't really have it enabled, so I'm not sure how any of us get "credited" (unless there's a way to enter someone else's screen name when you sign up... I don't remember). Other forums will provide unique links so that when your friend signs up you get "credit" for it, though, as explained here (from a different vBulletin powered board):

;)

Have a great day, DDA! After yesterday, Kyle and I are hoping to get a lot done around here. Then..... less than 48 hours until our trip starts! :yay:

You are going to have a wonderful trip :goodvibes

Elizabeth :wizard: That sounds like it would be so annoying. I hope they can make it go away quickly.

you all are so chatty when I can't get on. :confused3

Hope you all have awesome days!!!

Here's my favorite meat sauce recipe:

1 pound ground bef
1/2 C. chopped onion
1 pound plum tomatoes, diced
1 C. beef broth
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
2 tsp. minced fresh rosemary
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. minced garlic
1/2 tsp. salt

In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Add tomatoes, broth, tomato paste, rosemary, sugar, garlic and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.

It's good over pasta, ravioli, in lasagna, etc.

Elin - I forgot to tell you, Nicholas has been invited to perform at the the County's Fine Arts Festival Musical at the high school. He was one of 2 chosen out of his classroom. I'm not quite sure if he will be doing anything other than singing or recorder. He'll have practice 2x a week before school starts for the next couple of weeks.

I finally found time to completely catch up. Hunter stayed home from school today. He said he was okay staying home alone so I let him. I must say that it has been hard for me, but I've checked in and he seems fine. My stomach is still kind of wonky, but nothing that I can't funtion with. We are overstaffed here so I could leave if necessary, but I'm hoping to hang in there until the end.

:yay:  :goodvibes

Way to go, Nicholas!!!!
