DDA Chapter 18

Eric left for his Boy Scout camping trip last night. Crazy (although I think it's more like stupid) men and boys for tent camping in winter. Em and Mo are at my in-laws for the weekend. Lucy and I went down my aunt's last night and hung out and played cards with my mom, cousin and 2 other family friends. We had a lot of fun.

Today Lucy and I are meeting my girlfriend Amy and her DD, Abby, for lunch. Amy's birthday was yesterday and her DH has been working crazy hours so I suggested a lunch date to celebrate. We normally only see each other on Christmas Eve and the girls' birthdays so it will be nice to just get together. Abby is 2 months younger than Lu so it will be fun to have the 2 of them together.

Afterwards, I am dropping Lu off to my moms for the night. My cousin and I are headed out for drinks and to catch up. Should be a fun night.

Tomorrow I plan on enjoying a few hours to myself before the troops all start rolling back in. I guess we'll manage some dinner and then I have a parent meeting for GS's.

May all the men in your life allow you to sleep in tomorrow morning! Of course, this doesn't work if you have to get up early for bowling...

I like that you capitalized "Special Message." :rotfl:

May your caption contest yield many entertaining responses! May you sleep soundly, because you have a big day ahead with a 65th birthday bash and a long-standing traditional ball to attend with your husband (an event I have never attended, because I am a loser). Finally, and most importantly, may sweet baby Elise continue to feel better! :goodvibes

Okay, how's this:

May you wake up in the morning and find the scale has dropped more than a pound in your favor! :thumbsup2

Janet and Becky, I'm headed to bed, too, so I will leave you with this:

Janet, may you have magical Disney dreams now that your trip is back on! :wizard:

Becky, may you simply sleep soundly, because you have to work so much this weekend.

Ideally, this would be mine:

Amy, may Noah sleep through the night! :thumbsup2

But, that's a long-shot, since he's only done that a handful of times these past 7 1/2 months, so I'll be more realistic:

Amy, may Noah only wake up once, and may it not be five minutes after you fall asleep, because that groggy feeling is just horrid.

Goodnight DDA!

Loved them all.. and I hope Noah let you have a few hours of sleep in a row. :goodvibes

Congratulations, Chanon and Bob! What fantastic news! We are really having a baby boom here on the DDA. Don't anyone look at me to be the third! Timothy is definitely our last! I'm much too old to go through that again!!!

I'm so happy for you! Are you having the horrible morning sickness that Lindsay is having, or are you one of the lucky ones who doesn't get sick at all?
I'm one of the lucky one's. No morning sickness, I'm just tired a lot. I'm ready for my body to quit telling me this is hard work and/or just start showing something for it!

Amy - thanks for the Special Message - you should have used it on Lindsay....I was up twice last night. :confused3
And thanks for letting the cat out of the bag BEFORE I went out of town!

BTW, I like how you avoided my nursery post the other day. ;)
That was my backup! Thanks to a wonderful person on the boards, I was able to get the heartbeat from my phone to mp3 to 4shared so you all could here it. Here's our nursery bedding!

I think today is going to be a long one....

I went to bed at about 2, and the girls started taking turns crying out at about 2:10. I was already going to have trouble staying out late (I'm old, you know ;)), and that was before I had an infant with pneumonia, another that has the bug that started it all, and a thousand other things to do that really needed to keep me up even later than they did. If tonight hadn't cost us so much already (tickets, tux, dress, etc) we would cancel. The prospect sound awfully nice. :(

I hope there is a catnap in there for you sometime today, Jennifer. You know you will love the night when it finally happens.

The nursery is adorable, Chanon!

Tammi - have a ball this weekend!

I am off for a full day of (hopefully) great music. This is when it all pays off! See you all tonight. Have great days, DDA!

OH... Good morning! :sunny:

May there be no knocking tonight. :thumbsup2

Thank you! We had no knocking! She prefers to knock on nights when it will REALLY hack me off. I could have slept in today, so no knocking.

Well, it went like this:

"Mommy will take you to the library if you promise to be good at Cookie Cutters, but if you get into a fight or have a meltdown over what color balloon the lady gives you, we're going to Target!"

We ended up at the library. ;)

Good for you! I like Target, but not having to deal with screaming at the salon is worth NOT going to Target! :)

Jennifer I hope you were able to get a little bit of sleep

Theresa hope your funk leaves soon

Tammi hope you all have a good time tonight!

We are getting snow & way more than I want. Already had one of my morning gals call in because the roads are to bad(she lives in the country). So I guess I better get moving so I can go in early.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Ditto!!

Janet, be careful in the snow! :wizard:

Oh how I wish I had been able to stay up and chat with you last night, Amy! You were on a roll and I would have enjoyed seeing it in real time!

I guess I shouldn't have been the first one to to go bed! Loved all of your good night wishes, Amy! :goodvibes

Chanon - The nursery is cute!! :)

I hope you all have fun! There are a lot of nasty bugs out there that the kids are catching. My students are dropping like flies too! I am crossing my fingers that Nicholas can have a good time this weekend! :goodvibes
The kids in my class are dropping like flies as well!
Now that the cat is out of the bag:

OMG congratulations chanon and bob!!!!
Congratulations Chanon and Bob! :goodvibes

Since things happen in threes, who's having the third baby? ;)

Not me...for a little while anyway. :teeth:
Not me!!! Eventually, but not now haha

Good morning all! Well today is day 3 of my "I better lose some weight before my quick trip to disney" goals....so far, i have walked 20 min a day and met all my other goals so far (well today, just the walking..its early!)

Amy-the good night wishes were great..i was sitting here cracking up! You just made my day

My other fun news--my friend from the cruise ships texted me yesterday--he will be up in my area for a few days next week..i cant wait to see him!!!!

It's many, many months of sleep deprivation in action here. :rotfl:

That's the wonderful thing about being a grandparent, we get to sleep at night.

All the good night wishes were great, but it is a rare occasion to see a blue light special anymore.

Chanon - I love the Nursery!

Theresa - I hope you're feeling better this morning.

Tammi - Have a great time!

Robyn - enjoy your "Me" time

Deb - Sorry you got beat up in class, hope today goes better.

Congratulations Channon and Bob!!!:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I survived the first class. I was suprised that I was not the oldest in the class. There are 3 men that are older than me. There are also several under 20 kiddos. 3 of the boys are awful swimmers and I was running the class they would not pass. They are really struggling and apparently they have also been hired at the aquatics center. I do not want to babysit them so hopefully they won't pass. It wasn't too bad tonight, I did fine with the skills test and was even asked to demonstate a few things. I did manage to get punched in the mouth once when I was the victim and the skin was ripped off 3 fingers on my left hand in a backboard incident, but I'm sure I will survive. I need to get to bed as the class is 6 hours tomorrow and I'm beat from just 4 hours today

Injuries are not uncommon. I was not the oldest in my lifeguarding class either when I took it about 10 years ago. However, the older guys were recertifying. How are you feeling today?

Okay, how's this:

May you wake up in the morning and find the scale has dropped more than a pound in your favor! :thumbsup2

I'm definitely sorry that I missed the Special Blessings/Messages from Amy last night.

Deb, if you start to get Charlie Horses start eating some bananas. I had some issues with that and had other experienced lifeguards tell me about this. I started to have problems with my ears and they told me to stop drinking carbonated drinks. The difference with both these changes was amazing.

I'd volunteer except then you'd all be attending my funeral because if the pregnancy didn't kill me (and it probably would) My husband would since he's been snipped :lmao:

I've told people that if I tell them I'm pregnant to please shoot me. If they didn't, Chuck would anyway! I just don't think I have the energy to raise another child. I'll be thrilled when my kids get married and settled down so that I can have some grandkids to spoil but I want to have them visit, spoil them, and send them home when I have had enough. I don't think I could handle them 24/7 now.

So, are you saying Tammi should start asking you next Jan.? ;)

Chanon - we need details about the doctor's appt!!!! I assume all went well, but we need more than that. :thumbsup2
She should be able to start asking in April or May of this year. She did say that she only "gives" birth in even years. She didn't say she only gets pregnant in even years. So Tammi, get ready to ask her again in a couple of months. :rotfl:

Good morning, DDA!

Janet and Becky, I'm headed to bed, too, so I will leave you with this:

Janet, may you have magical Disney dreams now that your trip is back on! :wizard:

Becky, may you simply sleep soundly, because you have to work so much this weekend.

Amy, may Noah only wake up once, and may it not be five minutes after you fall asleep, because that groggy feeling is just horrid.

Goodnight DDA!

Amy - I  your good night wishes. Most importantly, I hope yours came true, and Noah gave you some hours of uninterrupted sleep!

I think I dreamt something about Disney, so that at least doesn't count as scary pregnancy dreams. ;) I'm up at least twice a night, though, so your wish for Chanon wouldn't have done me any good.

Oh no.  I hope you were able to get some sleep, and I hope everything looks better in the light of day. :wizard: for all of you!

Lindsay and Chanon, just to calm some of your fears. Babies DO sleep. Just not hers. ;)

:rotfl: :rotfl:

One of the best pieces of advice my mother gave me was that whenever I put Nicholas to bed (for the night, for a nap, whatever) to always put him in his bed. Not in a pack-n-play or a swing or a bassinet. They were immediately in their own bed, in their own room, and I always put them to bed awake. I never rocked them to sleep and then laid them down. That way they got used to being alone and they learned how to fall asleep on their own. For whatever reason it worked for me.

The other great piece of advice was to put some formula in his bottle when he was about a month old. I resisted, because of the "they need to be at least 4 months old" mantra, but I broke down and did it. It made for a happier baby and a happier mommy.

So my piece of advice is, and do with it what you wish, don't follow the textbook advice. Do what feels right to you. Only you know your baby.

Thanks, Tammi. I'm leaning towards the "in their own bed from the beginning" way of thinking. My mother was just asking me yesterday if I was going to want a bassinet or crib to keep in my bedroom, and I told her no. Our house is not huge, so it's not like the nursery will be far away, and if/when I have to get up in the night, I would have to take the baby out of our bedroom anyway so J can sleep. I like the idea of getting them used to their bed from the get-go. I know one of my girlfriends has done this, too, and has had good success.

The same girlfriend told me the one thing they can't live w/o is the video baby monitors they now have - they even have "night vision" on them, so you can see them sleeping, and don't have to run a chance of disturbing them when "checking" on them. I don't think they're cheap, but she said it's well worth the $$.

Tomorrow I plan on enjoying a few hours to myself before the troops all start rolling back in. I guess we'll manage some dinner and then I have a parent meeting for GS's.

Enjoy your time this weekend with reduced responsibilities!

I'm one of the lucky one's. No morning sickness, I'm just tired a lot. I'm ready for my body to quit telling me this is hard work and/or just start showing something for it!

Love the nursery bedding - you are so much further along than I am! Where did you find it?

I am off for a full day of (hopefully) great music. This is when it all pays off! See you all tonight. Have great days, DDA!

OH... Good morning! :sunny:

Enjoy your day, Elin!

Tammi - I hope you guys have a great time at GWL!

Theresa - I hope today is a better one for you.

Gary only cooks breakfast for dinner & when it is warm out he is in charge of grilling.

Elizabeth good to hear your mother is finished with treatments!

Supper tonight will probably be take out lol

What doesn't the grill work when it isn't warm? :lmao: Chuck grills year round. He has always done so.
