DDA Chapter 18

Ok, I see that it is too early to tell the gender. I'm sorry you are feeling so queasy. I have no advice for you on that, as I didn't go through it. I also didn't go through any cravings either. I actually had very boring, uneventful pregnancies.

The awards assembly was nice. There were 3 different awards presented to each of the first grade classrooms. The first was perfect attendance, so I knew she wasn't getting that. Next was Teacher Recognition, meaning that a student did something wonderful that the teacher wanted him/her recognized for. Not Alyssa. Third was most improved, again not Alyssa. So I knew it had to be the last one, which was the Soarin' Award for Academic Excellence. She got a medal, an Eagle (school mascot) pin (that excited her thanks to our pin collecting) and a Principal's pencil. I went to Walmart after and got her Taylor Swift's new CD as a little gift from me. I'll post some pictures later. I would post the video I took, but everyone was called up by first and last names, plus it has the name of the school and everything, so I'm being kinda cautious about that.

Congrats to Miss Alyssa! When my life settles down a little we will have to have tea in celebration!

Janet - congrats to Garrett... and I am sorry he will soon be driving. ;)
That was always a tough part of teenage-dom.

Great new pictures of the grandprincess, Debbie!

Time for bed here. What good news we have had in the past couple of days... babies born, babies coming, weight lost, exercise done, trips reported on and some about to begin. :goodvibes

Thanks for being good friends. Post 15,000

Congrats:cool1:

with Olivia grapes and peppermints helped not at the same time. Also wating something every couple of hrs helped.

With Virginia nothing really helped. I had phenergan and though it worked it made me sleepy.

Deli meat has been that way for at least 5 yrs. Also no fish from the oceans. I had heart burn with both girls luckily the maalox helped with that. Olivia only in the 2nd trimester. Virginia the 2nd and 3rd.

I tried phenergan too. It also worked for awhile.

Seems I keep being reminded that Garrett is growing up. He came home from school today very excited because guess what.......

He passed his drivers permit test! So by Tuesday he should have his permit in hand :scared1:

He told me that now he can drive me around :faint:

:cool1: :cool1: That is very exciting. Nick can't wait until he turns 15, only another year and a half.

That would be about 500 a year. I wonder how many times people eat cold cuts in the US in a year?

I eat cold cuts every day. It's usually ham for me. Colby does too.

Way to go to everyone that is exercising!

Tomrorow is one month til my trip so I decided I need to lose this weight NOW! I have some goals set and I will be doing at least 20 min/day of exercise or walking..4 bottles water a day..taking all my meds..no chips or candy..we shall see!

Good luck with that. I've been really good for almost 2 months now and the weight just doesn't want to go. I'm still staying right around 150. I want to lose, I'm dieting, I'm exercising and it isn't working :sad2:

I had planned to hit the gym after work, but someone called in sick and someone else didn't show up so we only had 3 waitstaff which meant we all had to close. The gym closes at 10 PM and I drove by at 9:55.

Tammi I hope that Bob didn't hurt himself too bad. Hopefully it will go away soon. Alyssa is certainly having a great school year. Please congratulate her for us.

Janet, congrats to Garrett getting his permit!

This reminded me of a photo I took of Leighanna.

A month later, I'm still dealing with sickness around my household (Matty's the latest on a stronger antibiotic for an ear infection), so I'll apologize (for the millionth time ;) ) for not keeping up. :flower3:

The pictures and trip reports have really brightened my spirits! :)

Heidi, I hope you and John have a very magical trip! :wizard:

And, Lindsay, I'm so thrilled for you! You are an amazing woman, and you and Jonathan are going to be fantastic parents! The nausea is no fun, but I always kept telling myself that meant the baby was doing okay. :goodvibes

Take care everyone. I'm sorry I never have it together enough to acknowledge all that is going on in the lives of the DDA. You always are in my thoughts and prayers! :grouphug:
 Hope you guys can all get rid of this stuff soon!!!:wizard:

Here are some pictures from today. Thanks for all the congrats. She loved all your notes! Bernadette, would you like to come along and be my personal photographer?

Your photos are good for the conditions! She's so cute! You should be very proud!!!

I had a great night, down 3.8lbs for the week. I really wish though, that I could get motivated to exercise again. I would probably be able to reach my goal a lot quicker. I was doing so well those first 2 weeks but fell completely off the wagon. My bed is just too warm in the morning to drag my butt out of it. Hopefully, once it gets warmer I'll get back to it.
:woohoo: Congrats!

Oh, stop being such an accountant. ;) 500 people is a lot! Especially if you are one of the 500! :scared:
They were probably mostly old and fully depreciated. (and you do know I'm just joking. )

Congratulations Lindsay, soon you'll have one of these,

Even more beautiful today!!!!

So, how long do you think it will be before she has her PawPaw wrapped around her finger?

IMG_0054-2.jpg
I think she already has!

I eat cold cuts every day. It's usually ham for me. Colby does too.
There are 300,000,000 people in the US so easily over 100,000,000,000 times per year. I'm sure you way more likely to win the lottery AND get struck by lightning than die from Listeria.
I just googled it and 2,000 people get struck by lightning-25-30% die.

When you're pregnant I think you are more vulnerable to getting listeria and the results can be so devastating that it wouldn't be too big a deal to just give them up for a while.

Janet, congrats to Garrett getting his permit!

This reminded me of a photo I took of Leighanna.

So cute!

Lindsay and Jonathan, I am so very happy for you two!!!!!

Make it till Sept 28 (that is my birthday)!!!!!!!!!!

Tom cute picture of Leighanna, before you know it she really will be driving!

Lindsay I meant to say. I drank a coke a day with each of my girls and they have no problems. But I also suffer from migraines and Caffeine is one of the things that helps mine. So I drank it as a preventive.

Migraines are a problem for me, too, and Excedrin Migraine is not on the list of approved OTC meds. Thus far (knock on wood) I haven't had one, but you're right, caffeine would definitely be in order there!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
Another DDA Baby!!!

Thanks, Vicki!

WOW!!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

So exciting! You are due on our 25th anniversary! I didn't eat cold cuts when I was pregnant with any of mine. You're also supposed to stay away from some cheese-like blue cheese but I can't imagine that is on your list of wants right now. I had a rough time with each one but once I get better I could eat anything with Joe-he's my good eater now.

I won't say how long it lasted with me-especially with Emma.:rolleyes1

It's funny - of the few people we've told thus far, I have 2 people whose b-day is the 22nd, and now an anniversary. I'm sure the chances of it being the 22nd are probably slim, but it's good to know baby will be in good company. :thumbsup2

I'm just hoping to avoid my DN5's b-day, which is 9/15. I was afraid that was going to be her demand when we talked to her last night, but she was only concerned with the # of cousins she currently has - 5 right now. She tells me a 6th would be fine, but she thinks 10 cousins would be too many. I assured her I had no intention of giving her 5 more cousins! :rotfl:

Wow - congrats to Garrett! (And  to you!)

http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Fact_Sheets/Protect_Your_Baby/index.asp

She shouldn't eat pate either but I doubt that is high on her list right now either.

Pate certainly is NEVER on my list of things I like. ;) However, feta cheese is - I just had to go check my container in my fridge to make sure it's from pasteurized milk. Phew - it is! (Not that I've had any recently, but I'm hoping my appetite will come back soon!)

A month later, I'm still dealing with sickness around my household (Matty's the latest on a stronger antibiotic for an ear infection), so I'll apologize (for the millionth time ;) ) for not keeping up. :flower3:

Amy - I'm sorry sickness is still persisting at your house! Hang in there - I hope this last antibiotic does the trick for Matty! :wizard: :wizard:

Thanks for the congrats!! I figure if I can just soak up what all of you talk about as far as parenting goes, I should be in good shape. :goodvibes

CONGRATULATIONS LINDSAY AND JONATHAN!!!

Thanks, Stephanie!

Tammi - great pics! I can't get over how much more grown-up Alyssa looks with her shorter hair. She's such a beauty!

I had a great night, down 3.8lbs for the week. I really wish though, that I could get motivated to exercise again. I would probably be able to reach my goal a lot quicker. I was doing so well those first 2 weeks but fell completely off the wagon. WTG!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Yes, I survived the stupid play group. AND when Momboss came home I talked to her and we are allowed to drop out now!! :yay: :dance3: :cool1:

Woo hoo!!! :dance3:

Way to go to everyone that is exercising!

Tomrorow is one month til my trip so I decided I need to lose this weight NOW! I have some goals set and I will be doing at least 20 min/day of exercise or walking..4 bottles water a day..taking all my meds..no chips or candy..we shall see!

You can do it, Jen!

Jonathan is exercising like a fiend right now. I told him, great, I get to pick up all his excess weight. To slow him down, I bought some Golden Oreos at the store today. ;)

I am headed to bed as I can hear it calling my name. I'll check back in sometime tomorrow but probably not until after GS. In the morning I am loading up the kiddos to take over my sisters for a bit. She is going to watch them while I run a few errands, a trip to the GS store and a haircut. I figure it's a win win situation, she gets a little extra cash and I get some free time.

Tomorrow night is GS so I also need to finalize the lesson. I've avoided it like the plague this week.

Good luck with your day! It certainly sounds like a busy one!

Congratulations Lindsay, soon you'll have one of these,

IMG_0064-1.jpg

Thanks, Debbie! She is just gorgeous - I'd be happy to take one just like her. ;)

What in the heck have you all talked about today?!?!?!? did you all have a wine float party without me? :(

I am on page 140 and cannot see the end of your postings!

Paybacks are heck, huh? ;) The wine float talk about killed me the other night (alcohol still sounds good :rotfl: )!

Maybe 2009 will be a decent year after all. :)

I should head to bed myself. In case the Knocker is planning an encore.

Good luck - hope it's a peaceful night!

I see girl scout cookies!!!!

Wow - what an eye! :rotfl2:

Lindsay and Jonathan, I am so very happy for you two!!!!!

Make it till Sept 28 (that is my birthday)!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Terry!

Who knows, but selfishly, I'd like to see him/her earlier than that. ;) The original due date they gave me was 9/29, but they thought from the U/S yesterday that I was bit further along, so moved it up a week. Time will tell!

I'm just hoping it won't be an August baby - we have WAY too many late August babies in our families!!

Well, I think I'm going to take my first dose of Zofran, and head to bed. This stuff better work, because the generic w/insurance was still almost $100. :scared1: (Retail was $600!:scared: )

Goodnight DDA! :cloud9:
