DDA Chapter 18

I guess it would be a very long tour schedule if concerts were only on weekends. :confused3

The Billy Joel/Elton John concert we're going to next month is on a Tuesday night.

anymore most concerts are on the weeknights

Can you imagine trying to find any venue that will only book weekends? I can't imagine the Pepsi Center trying to do all of it's "extra" bookings only on the weekends....as it is it had to drop the Disney on Ice altogether and doesn't have too many open dates for concerts.

point taken! I just can't imagine going to a concert and then getting up to go to work the next morning.

How many kids were at Princess' party, Elizabeth? I'm still working with Alyssa on narrowing down her guest list for her Webkinz party. It's still two months away, but I'm anxious to plan and shop! :teeth:

I'm not Elizabeth, but had to chime in here. Once our girls were old enough for parties we allowed them to invite as many kids as they had years under their belts. So, the parties got bigger as they got older, but they were certainly more manageable!

There was one exception to the rule and it is kind of a touching story. For Kristin's 6th birthday she wanted to have her party at McDonald's. :upsidedow So we started planning an August party for Kristin plus her 6 friends . We took my parents and my siblings to the beach with us that June and were talking about the birthday party and my parents both thought it sounded like fun and planned to be there, as they had been for every single birthday my children ever had. No matter where we lived they also came to visit us on my birthdays too.

But when my birthday rolled around in July my father wasn't feeling up to the trip to Virginia so we went to PA instead. He took me aside the day we left to come home and said, "Missy, I don't think your mother and I will be able to make the trip to Virginia next month for Monkeyshine's birthday. So I want you to invite everyone from her Kindergarten class." He handed me a blank check.

Every single child from Kristin's Kindergarten class came to that party. The place was packed. And those "kids" still talk about it now! And Kristin remembers that her Grandpa made sure she had a birthday to remember even though he wasn't there. That trip to visit them that July is one of her last memories of him. :goodvibes

Alyssa got chosen as Student of the Month in her classroom. The word for the month is Honesty. Evidently she exhibits that in class. Not at home however, as she had a little soap this morning for getting caught lying. But that's a whole other story, that I think I've taken care of. Hopefully she's seen the error of her ways. ;) Anyway, she will be honored with other students tomorrow morning at a breakfast in school. She was allowed to invite 2 adults. Guess who she chose. Yep, you got it, me and Bob. ;)

Good for her! I hope you and Bob enjoy the ceremony.

I'm absolutely sure it will be, I just wasn't anticipating spending that much! I can't wait, though! (Still, I wish we didn't have to wait until May AND go to Cleveland!)

I would love to go to see them! Have fun.

Oh Tammi, what a smart cookie Miss Alyssa is! Good luck ;) :goodvibes:

Please send a little prayer up for my girls, especially Avery. This is just getting ridiculous. She just thrashes and cries and writhes in her sleep, even right out of my arms if I try to rock her, with what appears to be belly pain, but who really knows? I hate that I can't do anything for her! And I hate that none of us have slept in 3 days (including naps)! :guilty: If she's in the pain that I've been in (and others I know), I just can't imagine ... :sad2:

I'm glad you slept a little last night. I hope the girls and all of you are feeling much better today.

Last night for Scouts we took the girls to this local ice cream shop where the owner gave them a tour and showed them how to make ice cream. Yum!! We made rocky road. And then everyone got a scoop or 2 of ice cream. I broke down and bought a single scoop of chocolate peanut butter swirl, it was delicious. But I could literally eat only 3-4 spoonfuls, it was just too rich.

Tonight Emma and Eric and have a Father/Daughter dance. The theme is Country Western, why can't they just make it simple and theme-less.

How fun! I hope they have a great time. Pleas post a pic.

What a wonderful memory! :goodvibes

Andrew has a party tonight at 7 here in Dallas. He gets out of school at 2:30. I'm not sure what we'll do until I can drop him off with Randy. Randy will take him and hang out somewhere until 9:30. Another reason I wish we were loaded and could afford an appt. in Dallas. (The school is so popular people drive from all over the state to go, and some have apartments in Dallas to stay in for the school week. Maybe I should get to be BFFs with one of them. )

Busy weekend with lots of basketball and baseball. Enjoy your day everyone!

Glynis - I hope your arm is feeling better today. I lifted a very heavy suitcase last year when I was at the NAMM Show in Anaheim and my elbow gave me trouble for 6 months! So maybe it is something to do with how you lifted the car seat.

I am trying valiantly to get caught up on here. I came home last night with a nasty headache and it is still here this morning. I am assuming that it is sinus-related and will treat it as such. I am NOT getting another cold. I am NOT getting another cold. I am NOT...

Elizabeth - I never get pin codes either. :(

Tom - what a perfect birthday trip Leighanna is having! :goodvibes

awwwwwwwww... I hope you were both able to go this morning. Please tell her that I am very proud of her (and that she should also be Student of the Month at home ;) )

Jennifer - I hope your sweet babies are doing better this morning (especially Avery) and that you can catch a nap. Bob is a NOTORIOUS snorer and when I am especially tired I have no patience with it. I am sure you are finding the same to be true with Kyle about now. I love my couch some nights....

Good morning, DDA! :sunny:

I am caught up (I think!). I have to be at the studio at 9:30 to set up for our first weekend of Festival Recitals. Between 2:30 this afternoon and 5:00 Sunday I will hear at least 170 students play and accompany 10 concertos! I think I may hate music for a brief period of time...

Good morning, DDA!!!

Theresa - Hope the headache is gone now. :wizard:

Jennifer - I really hope your sweet babies are doing better today. It's not fun for anyone, I know. Lots of :wizard: that everyone gets some good sleep today. :grouphug:

And we are off again today. There is a special exhibit at the Science Center about Sue the T-Rex. We're meeting some other homeschoolers there this morning. Then, we'll probably end up staying awhile longer for some of Terra's favorites. It will all depend on how well the baby is doing and if she's napping okay.

Then, tomorrow I'm taking all of the kids to the zoo. Kristi was maybe going to go for a little while too, but I think she may be falling too far behind in everything so who knows what she'll decide. Sunday is Kassie's birthday party. I've been running so crazy lately that I may see if I can just drop Terra off at the party unless Kristi really needs help there.

For now though, I had better go finish getting lunches made and bottles ready. I was hoping to feed the baby her cereal before we left, but she fell asleep while we were taking Rachel out for a quick birthday breakfast before school. I guess I'll just have to do that when we get to the museum.

Have a good day everyone!!!

I actually have been to a concert in a LOOOOOOOOONG time but I used to be able to get up for work the next morning...I was just grumpy for the first part.

Tammi-you do have a smart cookie and I hope you have hit upon a reasonable agreement and she becomes more honest at home.

I decided to tell Abi that I would be there this morning since I wasn't sure I could catch her attention while there.

Her reaction was a very excited "Reeaally?" followed quickly by "but it's going to be crowded and it's just a piece of paper, Mom" She is such her mom's girl. :upsidedow

While I don't have the migraine, I have the shadow, bounceback headache and my stomach is still upset (please, oh please, let it not be the stuff you all have) but I wouldn't miss this for the world this morning. :goodvibes

Sounds like what Timothy had a few days ago. He worked it through the next day (blew through two outfits), but it was a horrible night. Poor girls! It's so tough to see them in pain. They look at you to fix it, but you just can't. Have you talked to your doctor? Any advice there?
