DDA Chapter 17

So it took me over 2 hours to get home tonight. It was flurrying when I left. I was in my car less then 3 minutes and it was coming down blizzard like. I had to stop and get gas and in that short period of time my car was covered. The roads were not bad, people were just driving at a snail's pace. The roads were snow covered, but driving at 10 miles an hour was not necessary.

So my Grandpa is coming home tomorrow, just because his insurance refuses to pay for him to stay there anymore. It is crazy. But I do not work for the insurance company.

They suspect my Mom has blockages in her arteries as her blood pressure has been out of control. So they are basically doing angioplasty on Monday to see if she has any blockages.

Plus I had a co-worker whose house burned down due to a fire.

I rode 7 miles on my stationary bike.

I hope that all of you are doing well.

If you are sick feel better.

Happy Birthday.

Happy Anniversary

One would think, I agree! Oops... I misread your initial post and thought you were talking about our service.
I guess I used bad wording. I was meaning the overall quality/quantity of your dinner.

Becky-you and your family are in my prayers.

I hope the storms in your life pass quickly.

At times it feels like it. It pretty much started with my Mom's surgery over the summer. It has been going on since. I just do not think about. I can't control it just gotta deal with it.:thumbsup2

Meanwhile, we hardly had any hot water yesterday, and I was really worried. Luckily, when Kevin came home from his budget meeting, he realized it was a quick fix. It seems a nosy child was goofing around in the laundry room, and turned the water heater thermostat to a low setting. I thought Matty was the culprit, but this morning, after I was telling Alyssa how dangerous it was to play with things like that, she confessed. It would be wonderful if this sense of "guilt" sticks around through her teenage years! And, I only feel slightly guilty that I suspected Matty, because Alyssa confessed before he even woke up, so he didn't get lectured. :teeth:

As soon as Noah and Alyssa (she was up at 6:30 a.m. again) wake up from their naps, we're headed out to fill prescriptions.

I hope the DDA has a great weekend ahead!

I knew I would be able to share this story. It is just weird that I was just telling it to Stephanie tonight.

One day when Hal came home from work, he noticed his hand saw and hammer on the front lawn. Howie was about 8, Guenna was 5 and Steve was about 6 mos, so I was nursing him still and exhausted by suppertime. Howie had a habit of getting Hal's tools out and leaving them all over. Nothing helped so naturally he thought Howie was the culprit. Howie was crying and saying he did not do it this time. Naturally Hal ragged on this all thru supper. Finally when we were almost done, Hal went to the phone and started to dial. I asked him what was he doing and he said "I am calling the State Police to come out and take fingerprints so I can find out who left my tools on the front lawn to get all rusty" All of a sudden Guenna starts crying and repeating over and over, "Daddy, I don't want to go to jail" It was all I could do not to laugh so I had to get up and walk away. Of course Hal apologized to Howie and told him that he just didn't think Guenna was capable of doing something like that. We never did figure what she was doing with the tools. That story gets told over and over :lmao: :lmao:

I wanted to send you guys a link to the accident--this is before manyd etails, but this is what we have so far

(Edited to take the link out--more details coming available)

Continued prayers and pixiedust: for your family!

How sad for everyone involved. I hope the news from the firehouse is good for all the firemen involved.

Thanks

It is so frustrating watching the news..I knwo they are never right, but we just watched 5 different reports on the accident and there some that are so horribly wrong--it is crazy.

The road will be closed overnight, so im hoping that more details are available tomorrow.

I was just talking to my mom and said while I absolutely love being in a firemen family--its times like this..and the huge fire the other day--that can make me crazy..you just never know..

Well, i guess I should try to get some sleep...thanks for listening to me tonight guys--i just needed to "talk" i guess!

Absolutely, Jen! Talk away. I can totally understand that need and we're all here for you for as long as you need to just talk. :grouphug:

Good Morning.

I thought I'd pop in quickly to check on Jen's Fire Family. That is such a sad report. What a trajedy. I hope that no one else parishs from that accident :grouphug: I need to get the boys up soon (well Colby is already up). I'm Bowling Mom today as DH has to work. This afternoon we hope to tour the aquatics center. Otherwise no plans for the day.

Now see this wouldn't matter to me. The only reason she was invited last minute is because the person was put on the spot when Debbie's daughter asked if she was coming, in front of the person who is hosting the party.

I do not give my family that kind of power over me, if I am invited last minute, then I figure they really didn't want me there anyhow, so I would decline. Tough cookies if they got mad and I would tell them where to stick it.

BUT.. I don't know your family so I don't know if feelings would be hurt.

Thanks Tia and that is a good suggestion that I could make. They have a back hoe, so dumping it in empty lots should be fairly easy.

During the major snows in Boston a few years ago they were trucking snow to vacant lots. They also rented "melters" that the trucked snow too. Otherwise, it just sat in piles taller than my head along our street. Made the highly used street parking very difficult. Hope your next storm isn't too bad. :wizard:
