DDA Chapter 17

I just got a text from Jen P that a firetruck was in an accident and some fireman are not doing well at all. I'm trying to figure out if her family members are involved, I told her to keep me posted. I only got part of her message but imagine it isn't good, if she asked me to pass it along in "real time". Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. I'll let you know if I hear anything else.

Amy - :wizard: for you and the kids.

Glynis - I'm glad Timothy seems to be doing better.

Deb - congrats to the boys. I like your idea of a small reward at home.

Vicki - I have no advice, suggestions or story to relate. Just a big dose of :wizard: and some :hug:s.

Wow. It must be cold in Florida. From Allears:

The 8 p.m. Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at the Polynesian Resort has been cancelled January 30 and 31. The 5:15 p.m. show is still scheduled. Blizzard Beach is also closed on January 30.

Debbie - Happy Birthday to your daughter.

As for the birthday party you were invited to later than everyone else... I personally wouldn't go. I would not make a big deal out of it, but I would have something else to do and RSVP that way, saying I would have loved to come but already had plans. BUT.. I don't know your family so I don't know if feelings would be hurt.

That's been my question?! Becky is 19 and will be 20 in July. If she gets married in December, she'll be the same age as I was when I married Chuck. However, I told her there is a big difference between her & I. I left home at 17-3/4. I supported myself entirely from that time on and lived on my own except for going home one summer.

Hard to deal with rationally, I am sure, Vicki. I know what I would do, but I am not in your shoes. I wish you all the luck in the world making these hard decisions.

Her blood family (as she put it) is fine, she and her brother are headed to the firestation then the hospital. She is extremely upset and asks that we keep the men and their families in our prayers. It sounds like they're from her dad's station so could be people they know very well.

Jennifer please keep us posted, pixiedust: for the fire fighters!

pixiedust: and prayers for the firemen involved and their families. Let's hope it isn't her immediate family but since it is her firemen family that isn't much different.

Chuck said it was 50 something earlier today. He has been watching the weather daily since we have 28 days until our arrival. :woohoo:

I was thinking more on the lines of not having anything on the menu. I would think the chef has SOMETHING to do with what and how much is ordered? :confused3

One would think, I agree! Oops... I misread your initial post and thought you were talking about our service.

:wizard: for Jen's chosen family. I hope they all come out safely

Ya all know that I live in a development right? well we are to get yet another storm. Where in the heck are we going to put it all? :sad2:

During the major snows in Boston a few years ago they were trucking snow to vacant lots. They also rented "melters" that the trucked snow too. Otherwise, it just sat in piles taller than my head along our street. Made the highly used street parking very difficult. Hope your next storm isn't too bad. :wizard:

The boys are home from school. Nick got straight A's (and only one was an A-) Hunter missed with one B+ and Colby is doing well on the learning spectrum (that is how they grade K-2). The boys don't realize it yet, but I've cooked up a little celebretory party for tonight. My Mom is coming and so will my Dad if he gets out of work early enough. I picked up balloons while I was out today as well as brownies (for the kiddos) and some plastic champagne glasses (for their soda ;) ) I'm sure they'll enjoy a little extra praise for their hard work. My Mom is bringing a pizza for the kids and I'm making homemade ww friendly pizzas for the rest of us. It should be fun. I rented a few DVDs too.

Way to go boys! Congrats all around. Sounds like a nice recognition of all the work they've done.

Lots of prayers and pixiedust: all around. :grouphug:

Debbie -- Happy birthday to your daughter! Good luck with the decision on the party.

Amy - I'm sorry the kids are all sick, but glad you were able to get them all seen. I hope they all take their meds well.

Glynis - I hope Timothy continues to improve.

Deb - Those are terrific grades! You were so thoughtful to do the party.

Vicki - For the right decisions for you. :grouphug:

The firefighter wreck sounds terrible. Prayers to them!

We ran errands after work, and have been working on Andrew's homework. We just thought to try his cleats on for his baseball tryouts tomorrow, and of course, they don't fit. :upsidedow I guess he can wear his soccer shoes. I'm glad he's finally growing (and that we have a friend that works for Nike).

I have WW at 7:30 in the morning, then Andrew's tryouts, then basketball games.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

Don't know who has a Plato's Closet near them but tomorrow is their stuff a bag for $10....we always end up with a great amount of items for the money and what doesn't fit (I refuse to stand in line for the dressing rooms) gets passed on.

I won't here from the testing for 3 to 4 weeks. 800 or so applicants....100 got the test invitation...less than half showed up. 86 questions that took almost the entire 2 hours....espescially the stupid fraction problems. :upsidedow

Hi everyone-
First, thanks to Jennifer for passing along the message--when I first found uot, i wasnt sure how long it would be til I got online.

We are stillw aiting for details, but I appreciate all the good thoughts/prayers. I know I deleted a couple facebook wall postings and I apologize--I am friends with some firemen on facebook and do not know if anyone knows so I deleted .

2 of our guys are in the hospital, but are now expected to be okay--which was not hte initial report, which is why i was so scared when i texted Jennifer. I believe there are other victims in the accident but I do not know details os i am waiting to read or see a news report. We were headed to the firehouse when we were told to go to the hospital--then we were headed there when we were told firefighters and famiy were being asked to leave (too many, too much, etc) So as of now, my "family" is better than expected..when i find a news link, I will link you...I so appreciate you guys being there for me
