DDA Chapter 17

I've shoveled my driveway and the kids are having a fun time playing in the snow. They don't get to do that often. Nicholas and a neighbor are attempting to build a fort, with one of those plastic brick molder things. I'm afraid there isn't going to be enough snow to make an entire fort.

If you run out you can come to Vermont to visit. You can build snow skyscrapers here. We could even dig the snowmobiles out of the basement

I got Nick and Hunter's rooms cleaned and most of the laundry put away. I had to stop and shower as I need to go to the bank and pick up a few groceries before the kids come home.

I never realized how much more I can get done with no one around to bother me. Before I had to stop, shower and get ready for the day in order to pick up Colby at 11:15. Now I can stay in my jammies and clean away. I have no more excuses

I just took Kristin to work and the main roads are fine. The side streets are not good, however.

To give you all an idea of what happens around here when it snows a little (we have about 3-4inches now)....

My boss called me a minute ago to tell me that her doctor's office called and canceled her appointment for tomorrow. Why, you might ask? Because it is supposed to be snowy still.

And then there is the phone call from a parent last night as I was teaching. She expected to get the answering machine but I picked it up since I recognized the name and her daughter had a class in less than an hour. She said she was calling to see if the school was closed. When I acted puzzled and asked why she thought we would cancel classes her response was totally serious and therefore priceless...























"Because it is supposed to snow tomorrow."

To give you all an idea of what happens around here when it snows a little (we have about 3-4inches now)....

This happens around here...you would think people would be used to it. We do have more snow days/delays now than when I was in the school system and we have less snow.

I guess we usually have a different outlook. Typical conversations are "oh it's going to snow? I haven't bothered to watch the weather forecast" 6 - 12" the skiing and sledding should be great. I might have to shovel. Less than 6" no need to shovel, we can easily drive through that

DH is on his way home. I just got an e-mail that all after school activities are canceled, so he will pick up DS at 3:30 instead of 5 PM.

I am posting this here so y'all don't have to go to my TR...

(I have decided to try to write my TR without pictures since I had already posted many slideshows of the trip. Maybe this way I will get it done!!)

Bob and I left earlier in the morning that we thought we would. We decided to try to see if we could fly standby on an earlier flight so we got up and got going. We drove to Baltimore and checked into our Park ‘n’ Fly, took the shuttle over to BWI and got in line. I knew that we didn’t have to pay additional money for our third bag (we booked the day before AirTran added that little “perk”) and I also knew that AirTran allowed same day standby flights two different ways: either take your chances and fly for free or pay $40 per leg of the flight and be guaranteed a seat on the earlier flight. With that information in mind I approached the ticket agent. He was newbie. Had no idea that there would be people flying that would not have to pay for the extra suitcase and had no idea that we could pay a fee for the standby guarantee. He was anxious to learn so closed his station and took us to a different computer to have another agent walk him through the process. In no time at all we had boarding passes for the earlier flight and we through security and eating a light breakfast.

The flight was without incident, as was picking up the rental car at the airport. Brrrrrrr…. It was chilly here in Florida! We had a shopping list and stopped at Albertson’s on Orange Blossom Trail to get what we needed. In no time we were driving into the parking lot at POFQ and in checking in. Our room was ready (it was about 4:30 now) and we made our way to Building 6. We had a standard view room on the 3rd floor. We were really hoping the girls would have the connecting room to ours when they arrived on Wednesday. Bob called the desk and asked if there were any packages for us (I had shipped two) and we were told they would have to call over to POR to check, In no time at all a CM was there with one package. He didn’t know there were two. So he had to go back and get the second one. We tipped him and unpacked our goodies and decided to try out the food court for dinner that night. I had a muffaletta sandwich and Bob had the pot roast and we were both very happy with our choices.

We were both tired and it was after 9:00 by now so we decided to stay in the room and unpack and decorate the Christmas tree I had brought in that third suitcase. Bob had a beer and I had a glass of wine as we got all that accomplished. Ahhhh…. We were finally back at WDW and all was right with the world! Tomorrow is still supposed to be cold and since I had canceled our Epcot Segway Tour the only thing we have planned is dinner at Raglan Road.

Thanks! It would be REALLY, REALLY good to be able to leave here before it gets dark, but I don't think that will happen.

Yes all you do cut the unworked canvas to create a 1 inch border around the hooked area. Fold the border firmly to the back and stitch in place.
Or for a more finished look use rug binding, by placing binding over the turned back unworked edge and sew in place.

I would have to dig it out before I could send it. Do you know how to finish off the edges? I can do the hook part OK, but I have never done the edges before. Not sure what you are supposed to do.

We're off to swimming. Nothing like swimming in an ice storm.

We watched The Green Mile and I knew it would make me cry as I had read the books first. When that scene came and I starting crying, John leaned over and said its all right and pated my back. Never once did he make fun of me for crying.

Or for a more finished look use rug binding, by placing binding over the turned back unworked edge and sew in place.
