Poor Dude, glad you found him.

If anybody is still up...send some pixie finding dust this way...we think Dude got out some time this afternoon and it is way to cold for him to be outside.

ETA: the ferret rescue guy was wrong....at least with Dude. He said ferrets have no homing instincts, Dude never left the area surrounding our building. We found him shivering under our porch.

Janet, Kristine, Deb and anyone else with -temps, come on ove to my area of PA its a lot more warmer. It is 12º with the wind from the WNW at 6 mph, tonight is going down to -2 with the wind WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Anyone else have plans for a Oct. visit to Disney?

IF we went in October it would have to be super cheap. We are out of DVC points and we never get any codes, so it doesn't look good. Also, airfare would have to be practically free.

No, it is NOT too soon. The rule is that you must be completely packed a minimum of 12 days before departure.

Whoever designed the stupid packaging for Cabbage Patch dolls needs to go in front of a firing squad.
It took me TEN minutes to get the doll out of the box. It felt like 10 days, because Princess kept saying "Is my doll out of the box yet? Is my doll out of the box yet? Is my doll out of the box yet?" She was standing RIGHT THERE! NO, the doll is NOT out of the box, and you can SEE THAT! The box is wider at the bottom than it is at the top, so you can't pull the doll out through the top of the box. Of course they seal the top of the box like it is a box full of rare jewels instead of powder scented plastic. After you wrestle with the top of the box you discover the damn doll won't come out that way, so you get to repeat the process with the bottom of the box. Then the doll is secured to the inner cardboard with no less than 4 million twist ties AND rubber bands. What? Like someone could actually get the box open to begin with? I hope that doll is the best toy she has EVER played with because it was entirely too labor intensive to be less than that.

OK, off to the pediatrician. Where Princess does NOT want to go and she is already being a pill about it.

I can commiserate! We spent forever trying to get those darn dolls open after Christmas!

And I can almost assure you I will not be completely packed 12 days out. I'm starting to thinking about shopping at least, and got some stuff on clearance for the girls last summer (for warmer temps) but am pretty sure I have no idea what will fit them in 50 days!

I remember that kind of weather well (in the metro area it doesn't USUALLY get that cold) in Billings we had cold weather days not snow days. The winter before I went up there they even put a do not leave the house/dorm order for about 3 days.

-12 is the regular temperature!! I am afraid to see what the wind chill is! I wonder if my car will start???

I was listening to them talk about Chicago on the news when I was waiting in the Drs. office. I'm trying very hard not to complain about the temp here, knowing what you all are going through.

Good Morning all-Dude seems to have no ill effects from being outside at least 5, more likely 7, hours. Pearl helped us find him again.....she went and snuffled at the porch in a specific spot for about 3 minutes until we got the picture. He seems to be a little quieter, and surprised that I let him out of his cage with no begging.

If you all could spare a little pixie dust and a prayer for my sister, she takes her driving test at 1 today. I know it's not a big deal in the long run, but she's a mess.

She's actually a very good driver, but had one incident where she turned and cut someone off a bit and it totally freaked her out (I'm sure my dad, wonderful but very quick to snap sometimes, didn't help the situation) (I picture a "When you're driving, you have GOT to be careful because someone could die" sort of lecture, you know...). I tried to reassure her that it's really by the grace of God sometimes that we arrive places safely, because - as far as I can tell anyway - we ALL have days that we either zone out or just do something stupid while driving. We shouldn't, but we do.

Anyway, after that (about a week ago) she just has herself all embarrassed, more than anything. She wouldn't try the maneuverability portion (she hasn't since driving school, 6 months ago), and when she did it last night she got flustered and had a hard time.

She'll be fine if she chills out.... but that's the problem. She's very chill all of the time, until she gets worked up about something. Then it's over!

Theresa, I'm glad dude seems to have suffered no ill-effects from the cold. I sure would have!
