DDA Chapter 16

I'm heading to bed. Hopefully I will sleep tonight though I did take a nap this afternoon. I really needed it more to rest my mind than my body. Now I need to rest everything.

The dealership that Chris works for is the only one in the area that hasn't had layoffs, most have had large layoffs. We are hoping that this continues to be the case. They are currently doing an addition which will double the garage area. We are really hoping that they just don't fill those bays until the economy turns around. Chris is pretty high up on the heirarcy, but you never know. I don't think anyone anywhere is truly safe. My restaurant could go under if things continue the way they are :confused3 We are just thankful that we have jobs and we are trying to pay down all of our bills just in case.

Same here. We are trying not to do any shopping, and are eating out of our pantry for the most part. I do shop for the basics, but it looks like I might need to brush up on my bread making! Cost of food is just ridiculous!

same here, add to that are brilliant govt. is banning the re sale of kids clothes so its a good thing I got a sewing machine for christmas. now just to figure out how to use it. We have deers around here so not sure how well I would be able to grow a garden but that is a thought.

I guess it's my turn to ask for pixie dust! Alan came home from work and announced that his company laid off 13 people today. He thinks he's ok, due to his seniority, but you just never know.

:grouphug: :grouphug: Alan :grouphug: :grouphug:

supposedly your address doesn't exsist. :confused3

A business that gets packages all the time???? :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl:

I have things sent there instead of my home address since I am there and can sign for the package. Having it come to my home is not what I want anymore since who knows what could happen to the box if left outside the house.

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: I can't believe how this is hitting so many people. It's very sad. :sad2:

HUH? :confused3

Jennifer - I love your new signature picture!

Vicky - good thoughts for Chuck's Mom.

Deb - good work on outing those nasty little bugs.

Am I the oldest 25 year old on the planet?! Or just, more um..... suburban? Traditional? Classy? :snooty: :rotfl:

I am thinking it is this high-class company you keep on here that has influenced your choices, Mistress Jennifer. :snooty:

:rotfl2:

Jennifer, cute new siggy!
Even though you weren't happy with the photo shoot, you still got a couple of good shots, and they weren't that expensive, no? I know how frustrating it can be to not have a good photographer that likes to work with the kids.

I wish I could say it was just about maturity, but I have to admit it's a bit about preference. The other stuff I was alluding to is, I'm POSITIVE, just the difference in culture between a suburb and "the country". It's just that I have this idea in my head of what certain events (like weddings) should be like, and they're much more princess-like than anything else! :goodvibes

I'm from the "country". My parents families were farmers. I grew up quite poor. However, your wedding is supposed to be very princess-like. It was the one thing in my life that was very important to me. It is supposed to be special. Sharing it with your loved ones is one aspect. Mine probably wasn't as "classy" as yours but it was definitely princess-like. This doesn't have anything to do with the suburbs or country. I think it is more to do with the classy/traditional that you mentioned earlier.

I'm actually glad to hear that clarified. I guess I just made excuses for "them" and "us", touting that it must just be "different". They actually probably have more money than my family did, so I know it's not about that.... I guess it really is SOLELY about personal preference. I just have never met as many people as those in Kyle's extended family, that think a wedding is as joke-worthy as they do. :confused3 I just grew up assuming everybody wanted SOMETHING resembling a fairy-tale wedding, even if it wasn't the same level of "fancy" or "frilly" as someone else's, you know? Apparently I'm wrong. Not the first time... :)

Then again, everyone I know thought we were crazy for not drinking. We wanted to remember our wedding and reception, which is apparently also not normal

With all these statements in mind, I would think that you would be able to pick and choose your clientele if you decided that a career in wedding planning is in your future! :thumbsup2

School is delayed for two hours, so instead of going back to bed, I think I will Dis for a little while.

Tammi, there is a new law that is supposed to go into effect Feb. 10th, that will put a stop to the resale of used clothing, and any boutique children's clothing that is made for resale.
This law was to stop the infiltration of lead and deadly toxins that overseas toy manufacturers put into their products.
But since the law states that it is for all products for children under the age of 12, alot of businesses will go bankrupt.
They cannot afford the thousands of dollars that it will take to make sure that each and every product that goes into their creations is determined safe.
I understand the need for a law like this, but alot of small mom owned businesses (Dad owned too) are going to suffer.
You can read more about it here.

I'm going to go find something to eat (9pm dinner, anyone? ) and then either get in bed with the laptop or, more likely, play some more on here.

"See" you then!

Seems like a normal dinner time for me! :rolleyes1

Hi Everyone. I just found this board, I have been at Dis for awhile, but JUST got the idea to design shirts for our trip in OCT :). This board is awesome! I can't believe all the great things around here!!

Hi there, and welcome! :wave2:

Oh great! I just found out that the UCA High School Nationals Cheer leading Competition is the first weekend in February.:cheer2: Most values and mods are said to being booked.

I think most of them are staying at the All Star resorts, and some overflow into CBR. Hopefully POP will stay relatively cheerleader free!

I don't mind cheerleaders, heck Leighanna wants to be one, but I can only imagine the noise that will be created by all these kids!

So goes thinking that Feb. would be a quiet time to enjoy the parks!

I am sure that with their competitions and schedules, that we probably won't feel the effects until later in the evenings. We should still be fine!
