Amy- Good thoughts for your Grandfather.

Theresa- Hang in there.'s

Janet- Your trip to Ohio sounds like fun!! Sorry about the mouth issues. :wizard:

Elin- I am so glad that Kathrin found a job.

Glynis- Can't wait to see pics, sounds like a beautiful day.

You are in our thoughts too, Amy. I hope Noah adjusts to that returned schedule and still allows you some sleep!

 for you and :grouphug: for Grandpa and the rest of the family.

what Elin said!!

I'm around....just dealing with issues with Jonathan's car. Thankfully I have known my mechanic for 20 years....Jonathan always comes up with the most bizarre issues with his car. Then I have to try and explain it to this man....who usually just sighs at me and then says...."My God Kristine, just bring it in, will ya" :rotfl2:

Sorry you have to deal with this, but... :rotfl2:

Hooray for Kathrin!!! What will she be doing at the college?

Thanks, Glynis... and... Marketing! Writing to be more specific.

Talk about a small world. Her new boss used to work for another school who happened to be one of her clients when she worked for the company in Richmond! When he finally figured out "who" she was he insisted that they come up with as much money as possible to hire her. He said she was integral to the marketing plan they have started. That sure made her feel good. :) Additionally, this guy has is undergraduate degree from Yale and his MBA from Wharton School of Business so she is ecstatic to be working with him. She figures she will have tons to learn from him too. :goodvibes

Hi guys! We're back. My kids downloaded a lovely antivirus pro parasite while we were at Disney, so I haven't been able to hit the internet. I was able to get on my home computer yesterday and get caught up. Why are you guys so chatty when I'm away, and quiet when I'm around? ;) :rotfl: Don't answer that!

Jake's birthday was yesterday, and since they were still out of school, I worked from home. It's been rainy and very cold here the past few days, but I can see the sun out of my window finally!

I'll give you guys a good update later -- I just wanted to say hello, that we had a great trip, and that crowds were just as heavy (or heavier) than last year.

Congrats to Kathrin on getting a job!

Prayers said for your Grandpa, Amy.

Janet -- I hope your infection goes away ASAP. Happy belated birthday to Garrett.

Glynis -- congrats on Timothy's Christening! It sounds like you and your family are trying to make the best of what you can for the first Christmas without your Mom. We followed our tradition during our Disney trips of sending two balloons up to Mom from Main Street U.S.A. :goodvibes

Have a good day everyone! I need to get back to work but will try to give you more of an update later. :)

Welcome home, Marci! Poor computer! :(

Kathrin says thanks to all her DDA aunts (and uncles) for the good wishes. She thinks you all are just amazing!

does it have to be a meaningful craft? or can it be just a fun craft

Meaningful craft? Isn't that an oxymoron?

How old is Princess??? She is pretty savvy!

She will be 3 on Thursday. She is scary smart. I hope she decides to show that at her evaluation tomorrow. It is one of the steps in the admission process for another school. Not that being scary smart helped her in her quest to wear the costume and eat at the same time, but it was a noble effort. ;)

Ditto!
I think I covered some of those earlier, but it was such a dittoable post I couldn't resist.

Hope it is an easy fix!

Gak Recipe

Ingredients:
# 1 cup Elmer's glue
# food coloring, your choice of color (optional: coloring can stain!)
# 1 cup liquid starch

Pour glue and coloring in plastic container.

Stir until color is thoroughly mixed in.

Add starch a little at a time, stirring with a spoon or kneading with your fingers as mixture thickens.

Keep stirring until mixture holds together like putty.

Test with your fingers: if too sticky, add more starch in small amounts until mass is smooth and rubbery.

(And then I found this too!)

Oobleck Recipe

Another interesting substance is called "oobleck." It also acts like a liquid until pressure is applied.
Ingredients:

* 2 parts cornstarch
* 1 part water
* food coloring (optional, as could stain clothing and skin)

I am not sure what one would do with those previous recipes... but there they are! ;)

Welcome back Marci! Sorry to hear about your computer though.

Glynis glad to hear all went withh with the christening & your dinner!

Elin thanks for the advice. I promise I will be keeping in close contact with my dentist so they can keep an eye on me. :goodvibes

So Kristine is there anything exciting to do at the train station during layovers :rotfl:

I am looking forward to hearing about your trip! :)

I'll ditto you!!

Thanks, but what is liquid starch? I have no clue.:confused3 :confused3

Come on over! :teeth: We are planning on Cedar Point, Wildwater Kingdom, Cleveland Zoo and Rainforest, Geneva on the Lake and a visit to Lake Erie and a possible drive up to Niagara Falls...

If you end up heading to Niagara Falls, let me know! I'll leave my scaredy cat family behind and join you there. I love the Cleveland Zoo, too, but that's a bit more of a drive.

so you all may remember when I resigned less than 24 hours later tattle tale's assistant had a "proposal" to take over my position (for more pay). Seems they may have hired her. She was answering the phones (badly, I might add:rotfl: ) when I needed to call the girls' piano teacher.

Oh well, if they hired her they deserve her. It also would explain why they haven't called me to come in and show a new person the ropes....why would I need to show the ropes to somebody who, if given the chance, would have strangled me with it. Now if I could just find that perfect position to go back to them to go "nahnah nahnah!", I would be a happy camper.

I sure hope that karma comes and bites them all in the tushie!

I hear you on that. This is the first time since June that I've made it past day 1 :rotfl: My SIL is going to meetings so she has all the info on the new momentum plan. It seems that they have restructured how they determine how many points each person gets. I need to read through all of her materials so that I can recalculate mine. I know that 3 years ago the lowest amount of points was 20. No one ever should eat less than 20. I think I have 22 right now, but it would be a nice suprise if I get more. I know that SIL gained 2 more points. They also have new guidelines for eating out. If you order a lean steak it only counts as 5 points, you don't have to worry about ounces :confused3 Since I eat out a lot (at work) I would really like to read that. Once I read it I'll try to post a condensed version for all of us that are doing it on our own :thumbsup2

I made it past day 1! Day 2 is even going well. I wasn't thinking that was much, but I need to celebrate even the small successes right now.

When I was on the plan, the lowest weight range ate 18-23 points (plus any exercise points). I think I would have been better off working with the 23, but I can be a bit obsessive sometimes (you all may have already guessed that about me ;) ). I think that I have learned a few things since that go 'round, so I hope to keep things more moderate this time.

Just don't turn into a Black Hawk parent or a Lawnmower parent. They are just unbelievable!! Once the kid becomes an adult, they should be handling that stuff on their own.

I've never heard these terms. I think I'm doing a pretty good job of letting Matthew handle the college applications process on his own. He definitely needs parental input, though. He is the one that needs to make all the contacts with the schools and his guidance office. It's a little struggle sometimes, since his priorities are a little different than ours.
