Elin safe travels today!

Tammi :yay: for new sump pumps! Hope the tooth fairy made a visit last night :goodvibes

Theresa your suite looks sweet :thumbsup2

Amy hope you get the autograph books figured out!

Chanon how is Bob feeling this morning?
He went to work but that doesn't mean anything. He didn't have a fever when he left. But I have a sore throat (but I slept poorly) and my temp is higher than normal (but that could be because I slept with socks on).

I got up late so I better get ready for work.

Hope Bob makes it through the day ok & I do hope you are not coming down with something :wizard:

b) My jerk of a mailman is hoarding it with all the other things he delivers way past the "please deliver by" dates and my Entertainment Weeklys that used to always arrive on Saturday, but now we're lucky to see them by Tuesday, because I swear he reads them and he's still mad that I didn't shovel the ice off the steps last winter when I was pregnant and Kevin was out of town

I'm sure this is it! :rotfl:

I have today off & it looks like it will be another decent day out! I need to go grocery shopping & get Garrett another gift for his birthday. One of the outfits I ordered him is on back order, so who knows when it will arrive. Hopefully Penny's has some good sales going on.

For his birthday he wants to have a few friends over & go bowling. I have to work, but Gary can drop them off. I do work next door so they can come see me & I will treat them all to ice cream. He chose tacos to eat for dinner & chocolate cake(which my friend is making for me).

I work new years day, so I plan on just buying some snack foods for everyone to munch on & new years eve I will make some bbq ribs. I have had a hankering for those lately!

That is some digs ya got, kiddo! Take lots of pictures for us peons. ;)

Please let me know how you like that can opener! I need one too. Here is the one I have:

Your interview sounds promising, Theresa. Here is all the PD I can find around here! pixiedust:

Hey, that's the same one I have! :teeth:

Theresa, please keep us posted! :wizard:

I am guilty of changing ADRs for every trip. But only one or two. I also cancel ADRs that we won't be using and that always amazes the CMs I talk to.

I might have to change every single one this time, since I just read that the UG Crowd Calendar changed  I have no idea when I'm going to find time to start over with the little planning I've done so far...... :guilty:

I am packed. Kristin and I will leave here about 6:00 tomorrow morning. I need to do some kind of manicure since the place I go closes at 5:00 and I didn't get over there until 10 after 5:00 tonight. My polish is looking ragged from the past week at WDW!

Wow, you hit the road early. Sorry I missed you, but I hope you are traveling safely.

I am on the phone with Kathrin. She is upset that she cannot get to the funeral. She can't fly into any airport less than 3 hours away from our hometown. She can't get a train into any town or back out from any town that is remotely close.

She tried to persuade me that she should rent a car and make the drive. Google tells her is will only take 8 hours. My brother made the drive one time and it took 14 and he said it was a horrible drive and he would never do it again.

Why my in-laws decided that this all had to take place so quickly and on New Year's Eve I will never know. (vent over.... thank you.)

:grouphug: For you and for Kathrin!

I got a wonderful package from Terry yesterday! :yay:

I took a picture, but have yet even get pictures off past Christmas Eve, and have my house practically in shambles because I tackled several large projects yesterday. I now have to finish them before everyone comes over for NYE tomorrow! :faint:

Thank you, though, Terry! They made my day! :goodvibes

Just as a start, though, there was this guy:

and a beautiful ornament from WDW!

Two pieces of good news for our family so far today:

Kristin has tomorrow and Wednesday off... she will go with me.

Kathrin was offered a job! She is waiting to hear from two other companies but this is the one she was hoping to get. She would like a little more money than they are offering, but is hoping that her references and background check reveal that she is worth more without having to ask for it. She will make a final decision on Friday! FINALLY!

That is great news all around. Congratulations to Kathrin! I hope they can come up on their offer, but either way...WOOHOO!! I hope that Kathrin is able to come to some peace about missing the funeral this week. I know it's tough. :grouphug:

Elin, that's exactly how mine came! The USPS sorting machines had it out for Tia's poor cards!

I know, what's the deal with that!

Tia - your card and envelope came fully intact to me. Did you send them all out on the same day?

I did. I sent them all on the 24th from the main Anaheim branch, outside mailbox. So far it's about half of the DDA cards and at least one other that are destroyed. My uncle's card came back today as I had the old apt number on it (come on, though, how hard it is to stick it in apt 14 instead of 21 of the same small complex!). The envelope was open on the bottom and 3 sides yet the card and his picture of Terra were still in there. I'm really surprised that at least the picture hadn't fallen out.

We didn't receive Tia's card at all, so I'm assuming:

a) She didn't think I was worthy of a Christmas card :teeth:

or

b) My jerk of a mailman is hoarding it with all the other things he delivers way past the "please deliver by" dates and my Entertainment Weeklys that used to always arrive on Saturday, but now we're lucky to see them by Tuesday, because I swear he reads them and he's still mad that I didn't shovel the ice off the steps last winter when I was pregnant and Kevin was out of town

or

c) Our card was shredded beyond recognition

You are too funny, Amy! I promise that there was one for you too. I would put money on the mailman, but then he odds are against me I think.

Tia I got your card today. It was in an envelope from the post office the envelope was torn in 3 pieces the back, my address and the stamp. as well as the card.

Hopefully I just got one bad batch of envelopes, but who knows. The boxes were all the same company, but different designs. I know that the envelopes got mixed up some as Terra stamped them all one day and so they were all together before receiving cards, etc. It's just crazy!

nope...

I went and picked up my prize package....we are in a SUITE for the Av's game:cool1: and the best part is that it came under the reporting for tax purposes limit by $5 so I don't have to pay taxes on it!!:thumbsup2 ETA: here's where we will be on the 29th! http://www.pepsicenter.com/suiterentals/suites.asp

Then I went to my interview with the staffing agency. It's a little one...2 employees but I have confidence in the lady. Even with my crappy keyboard I am typing at 37 WPM and I passed all the other tests with the accuracy I needed or expected...espescially since they were testing on an antiquated Windows Office Suite and didn't allow for shortcuts. :headache:

I picked this up last night http://www.hamiltonbeach.com/openstation-can-openers-open-station-can-opener.html with some of my birthday money (yes, my birthday is in July....my sister just sent a gc) I had a crappy old opener that saw it's better days about a decade ago. But it took 6 stores to find that one...who knew can openers were such a big Christmas present??

Very nice suite! That should be a lot of fun. I also love your can opener! That may have to be on my wish list for the new house.

I have no motivation to create autograph books for our trip. I was even looking at Ebay to see if I could buy something premade.

Don't worry, Amy. I know the feeling. Of course that guilt you're feeling now also sets in and I always end up doing something. Not quite sure what's with that. My easiest one was the spiral scrapbook/journal book with stickers in it. I picked it up at Michael's or somewhere like that with a 40% off coupon. Combined with Deb's address label idea, it could be really easy.

He went to work but that doesn't mean anything. He didn't have a fever when he left. But I have a sore throat (but I slept poorly) and my temp is higher than normal (but that could be because I slept with socks on).

I got up late so I better get ready for work.

I hope that he is over and done with any illness. Even more so that you don't continue on the path towards it.

:wizard: that he feels better soon and that you don't get it!

Maybe not quite so to the point. Something a little softer like, "We love spending the time with you, but we would still like some days to be just 3somes." Maybe on days that you plan for 3somes, you could still meet up for a meal. Or is that still too much?

Stay well, Chanon! :wizard:

No, it needs to be blunt or Uncle1 will ignore me. I am looking at my schedule to determine if I want to offer to include them in my dinner ADRs on the days we don't do the park together. If I say we want "family" days he will assume that means them, too, because they are family. What I want are days reserved for my family of three so I don't get home and feel like I didn't have a vacation.

Oh. You mean Elizabeth.
;) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: ;) ;) ;)

I do make changes. This year I had 23 ADRs, but that was because it was a 16 night trip and we had the DxDDP. BUT some of the ADRs I made at 180 never changed. The CM's have to be there to answer the phone no matter what - it doesn't matter what the booking window is. I know they are bad about releasing park hours, but I can plan some things without the park hours. It just makes me mad that those of us who are perfectly capable of planning at 180 are now being penalized by having to wait until 90. Talk about punishing the whole class for the shortcomings of a few people.

well, the world as we know it, is now coming to an end......

Why don't you buy them at the park? :confused3

Oh, you all are funny! :rotfl2:

I'm lacking motivation and inspiration...I think I've baked those things away this year!

I really should have worked on this project about 180 days ago. ;)

Precisely. ;)

I know. She just second and third and fourth guesses herself. I'm just giving her a hard time, because she is the master of master planners. ;) ;) Actually I think it was Elin this past trip that was the big changer for the DDA. Or maybe that was her October trip, when she was originally doing the DDPDelux

But I don't change ALL of them. And if they told me what I wanted wasn't available I would be OK with whatever I booked to begin with.

I hate to admit it....but I don't miss the the whole autograph thing at WDW

DS is too lazy to carry the book around. And he doesn't really like to stand in the character lines anyway.

You and me both! There was dead silence on the other end of the line when I asked Bob where Kristin and I would be sleeping tomorrow night.

The hotel looks nice! I hope you enjoy it!

it was a rough couple of days..mostly because Bill drove me crazy. He was spinning around the house like the Tasmanian Devil espousing about the world coming to an end....at one point all 4 kids and I were just starring at him speechless...then we all started laughing and he stomped off!! :rotfl2:

Bill needs a nice hobby.

Speaking of floating away, I am proud to say that I have 2 new sump pumps in my house, thanks to a wonderful man that I know. Although it still cost $400 for the purchase.

Yay! I hope you don't have any flooding after this!

Bill wants to buy a generator.....because evidently we are now going to prepare for every possible disaster that may befall us....soon I will be hording canned food :sad2:

You never know...:rolleyes1

Don't forget the one gallon of water per person. :lmao:

Per person, per DAY, so you will need LOTS of gallons!

I need to head to bed too. 5:00 will come very soon. I may or may not have internet access in PA. I will take my laptop and see. If not, I will talk to you all on NYE at some point. Thanks for all your kind words and good wishes for our drive. Good night! :goodvibes

Safe travels, Elin!

Susan's FIL's service is tomorrow, too. DH and I both have to work today and tomorrow so we won't make it out to the funeral home. I left Susan a voice mail yesterday, and the nannies are sending flowers.

What women really want!

King Arthur was ambushed and imprisoned by the monarch of a neighboring kingdom. The monarch could have killed him but was moved by Arthur's youth and ideals. So, the monarch offered him his freedom, as long as he could answer a very difficult question. Arthur would have a year to figure out the answer and, if after a year, he still had no answer, he would be put to death.

The question?....What do women really want? Such a question would perplex even the most knowledgeable man, and to young Arthur, it seemed an impossible query. But, since it was better than death, he accepted the monarch's proposition to have an answer by year's end.

He returned to his kingdom and began to poll everyone: the princess, the priests, the wise men and even the court jester. He spoke with everyone, but no one could give him a satisfactory answer.
Many people advised him to consult the old witch, for only she would have the answer.
But the price would be high; as the witch was famous throughout the kingdom for the exorbitant prices she charged.
The last day of the year arrived and Arthur had no choice but to talk to the witch. She agreed to answer the question, but he would have to agree to her price first.
The old witch wanted to marry Sir Lancelot, the most noble of the Knights of the Round Table and Arthur's closest friend!
Young Arthur was horrified. She was hunchbacked and hideous, had only one tooth, smelled like sewage, made obscene noises, etc. He had never encountered such a repugnant creature in all his life.
He refused to force his friend to marry her and endure such a terrible burden, but Lancelot, learning of the proposal, spoke with Arthur.
He said nothing was too big of a sacrifice compared to Arthur's life and the preservation of the Round Table.
Hence, a wedding was proclaimed! and the witch answered Arthur's question thus:
What a woman really wants, she answered....is to be in charge of her own life.
Everyone in the kingdom instantly knew that the witch had uttered a great truth and that Arthur's life would be spared.
And so it was, the neighboring monarch granted Arthur his freedom and Lancelot and the witch had a wonderful wedding.
The honeymoon hour approached and Lancelot, steeling himself for a horrific experience, entered the bedroom. But, what a sight awaited him. The most beautiful woman he had ever seen, lay before him on the bed. The astounded Lancelot asked what had happened
The beauty replied that since he had been so kind to her when she appeared as a witch, she would henceforth, be her horrible deformed self only half the time and the beautiful maiden the other half.
Which would he prefer? Beautiful during the day....or night?
Lancelot pondered the predicament. During the day, a beautiful woman to show off to his friends, but at night, in the privacy of his castle, an old witch? Or, would he prefer having a hideous witch during the day, but by night, a beautiful woman for him to enjoy wondrous, intimate moments?
What would YOU do?

Noble Lancelot, knowing the answer the witch gave Arthur to his question, said that he would allow HER to make the choice herself.

Upon hearing this, she announced that she would be beautiful all the time because he had respected her enough to let her be in charge of her own life.

Now....what is the moral to this story?

The moral is.....
If you don't let a woman have her own way....
Things are going to get ugly.

Kristine I know you posted about this, but I don't remember your thoughts :rolleyes1 What did you think of the Kennedy Space Center? Gary has mentioned a few times about wanting to go here & I am worried I will be bored to tears.

I also think I am going to buy hm another ticket for the Richard Petty driving experience. He really enjoyed the ride a long & tickets are on sale for $49 till the 31st.

Deb, was it you that asked about the Kindle? My friend Michelle had one and I was messing with it while we were in CA. I can really see it being nice to have. Totally easy to use, very easy to read and would be great especially on a trip when you could just pack that instead of several books. As long as I could get title I would want and had the money, I'd totally get one!

Yay for Kathrin getting a job offer!

Lots of :wizard: for Theresa and Lindsay to receive the same!

Hi Marci! Thanks for checking in from WDW! Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Chanon, I hope Bob is feeling better ASAP and you manage to avoid his bug!

Anne-Marie, how are things going for you? Any prospective buyers on your house?

Janet, I forgot to compliment how nice your kitchen looks!

Robyn, how is Lucy acting tonight?

Lucy seems back to her normal self. Thanks for asking. I know you'll come up with some fabulous autograph book.

I am moving at tortoise speed this morning. Which would be fine except that I and another Girl Scout mom are meeting at 10am to drive over to the eastern shore (an hour or so from here) to check out a State Park campground. It was going to be a fun escape until we learned we had to hike about a mile to the youth campground, it's closed til April 3. Fun, fun!!

Will chat with you all later. Have a great day
